I used to think this was just Mario fanfiction - it still kind of is, but it's a fun story overall. I'm glad I played it.

I would also have liked to be able to attack, at least damage enemy spawners so that they don't spawn as much tough enemies so constantly - that, or more downtime between waves. Later stages end up having about five spawners with varying distances from your ship, so it means enemies keep coming from each of them with no time to breathe.

edit: backloggd wiped most of the review for some reason. i'll write a new one if i ever go back to this game

i'm not much of a fighting game person usually but this is fun.

It's a bit of a generic platformer sometimes, but I have a really soft spot for it.

It can get really fun when it starts incorporating momentum in its level design! Gyro Jungle and Flaming Fortress are some of the best for this. The extra content in the DS version are a fun touch, too - especially the original Pac-Man and a recreation of it in Pac 'n Roll's engine and mechanics.

At the end of the day, it was still one of the best 3D platformers for the DS.

It's kind of disappointing. It feels a bit too light on the coding part of it, given that I feel like I understand the logic behind it enough already from stuff like WarioWare DIY

I don't know if I'll keep playing it, but we'll see.

dad, why does falling in the video game scare me in real life?

(i'd love it if i weren't literally scared of everything)

The best Pac-Man game by far! It takes everything cool about the first two CE games and recontextualizes everything its own way to make for a solid, mechanically perfect experience that's just so much fun to perfect.

i also don't get the point of this game

it's probably a bit easier to go hardcore into this game than with minecraft, since its character ability upgrade mechanics are pretty evocative of metroidvania design

but it's simply less immersive for casual play. i don't get the same feeling here when i go on adventures with friends of actually exploring a world; i'm just... sidescrolling.

and i'm kind of sick of sidescrollers that don't focus on good, interesting platforming at this point, honestly.

Aside from BotW? This is the best Zelda game.
Atmosphere, characters, worldbuilding... oh, this game has it all. It's closer to Link's Awakening in terms of its design than to Ocarina of Time, despite all the shared assets, and is honestly so much better off for it.

also, playing in 30fps is worth it

I don't know how I feel about putting games like this on here given that they literally never end, you can't really finish them

It's comfy, though. I loved playing it when I was alone in my college dorm.

It's kind of a shame that online play is dead, but I'd be wrecked if it were anyway.

2018

it's a competent zelda-like. i like how the time limit led to a generally concise enough map design, but it's still a bit hard to navigate sometimes.
the main time mechanic is a bit underused, but it's a fine enough game.

babby's first bullet hell, which means it's the bullet hell for me

qp dangerous is one of my favorite 100%oj characters.

everything i said about undertale applies here

i'll be waiting patiently until you're ready, toby.
