Might just be the hardest game FromSoft has made.

2016

It's very rare that you get to see an oldie somehow continue to be THAT fucking good.

This is very very good, I do not understand some of the hatred I have seen in the reviews. Extremely polished and solid Outrun gameplay, it is filling its niche borderline perfectly.

What do you want me to say? If there's one game I will always come back to, it is this one.

In the very rare instances, this game captured the level of scale and immersiveness I had come to expect from a cyberpunk setting. Buildings and holograms everywhere, absolute corporate control and filth strewn everywhere at the bottom of the streets. BUT this was very far and few between. Maybe 10% of the experience gave me this feeling, and for that I honestly consider this a failure for the cyberpunk genre. It's just not polished or handled with care enough. The story is about half really good and half meh, it consistently looks really good the whole time though. The music is amazing too. In the end, maybe I am just too snobby. Maybe I've been spoiled by things like Cowboy Bebop or Blade Runner, but all I know is this is certainly not near either of these two, or others interpretation of the CYBERPUNK genre.

Very conflicting experience here. Most Ubisoft games do end up looking pretty good visually and having great music, their production values are kind of similar to someone like Michael Bay, where the things on display mean nothing but usually look pretty damn good. The crazy John Wick execution style gameplay, immense detail of Chicago and amazing music score might at times, convince you what you're doing is actually meaningful. But it's not, the story is wet bread and although Aiden is very cool and badass most of the time, he's a piece of cardboard, an action figure. A strong visual and gameplay base does not mean anything when your beautifully rendered Chicago has nothing to do in it. There were times that felt great interacting with the city, mostly figuring out the puzzles to activate the cTOS towers, but that's about it.

An actual fucking good metroidvania, insanely slept on.

Everything I wanted out of a Peter Parker story and representation. Heavy respect was given to him and his rogues gallery. The people who made the game knew what they were doing. Great graphics and beautiful score are a given too, and the gameplay is just Arkham. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

I literally have over 500 hours in this on PS4. I am level 110+. When you actually have things to do and might have a friend helping along with you it is amazing but even then you can feel something hasn't reached its full potential. Rockstar basically abandoned this entirely even early on. You run out of fun things to do so early on and eventually reach a peak and there is nothing else to do. (because Rockstar, like I said, abandoned this)

It's actually pretty damn good

This really is a phantom game. There is something missing in every area, you can feel it, like it's still there. But somehow, even with its immense tedium, bland looking openworld, terrible story and padded waiting, there are still enough moments of excellence strewn across its sandbox experience that make it shine. I have actually 100% this game and I think it's a terrible completion experience, but there's something entrancing and addicting about how well this game plays and runs. There was something special here, just with a lot of garbage and filler bound to its treasure. I love its art style, setting, music, soundscape, it's all basically perfectly done, and Venom, as quiet as he stays is expertly voice acted by Kiefer Sutherland. Everytime Kiefer speaks as Venom my eyes were glued to the screen, it's a very big shame most of his lines were cut and the game is unfinished. He comes off as emotionless but he most certainly is not, Venom is a victim because he was the hero Big Boss chose never TO BE. He built a legend someone did not deserve, he's a hero, BB certainly is not. He disallowed child soldiers and wanted all nuclear weapons disassembled, these were HIS decisions. He did these things before he was told of his identity, he did what he thought was right. He's flawed in one way though, and it's that he can't let go of people. He imagined Paz as alive to keep her in his mental vision, this is a trait of his own identity. When Quiet left, he chased after her even though he knew she definitely was leaving for a reason. There is something here, be it formed on accident or genuine character breadcrumbs placed by Kojima, and knowing him, it's probably a combination of both. Venom and Raiden will continue to be my favorite characters in the series. To wrap this up, yes I know this is a bad Metal Gear game, and I am completely awake and aware and accept this but for some reason, I just can't put this goddamn game down.

Extremely solid if not the best gameplay in the series, ultra refined and filled with, mostly, useless depth. Barely any gameplay which is a massive problem when it plays so well, framerate issues melt and you become used to them if you are accustomed to using a PS3 at all. Batshit insane story that is terrible and honestly infuriating at times and ruins things, BUT there are some moments of excellence. Character interactions usually range from entertaining to amazing.

On the rare occasion I enjoy it more than MGS3, and that's a pretty fucking high bar.

Excellent voice acting and character interactions. Still holds up very well.
