Not completely finished with the game yet, but I have a lot of thoughts, so I made a list of pros/cons.
PROS:
+ Gameplay is epic and immersive. Parts are reminiscent of Skyrim meets Monster Hunter, but there really isn't anything quite like it. It feels like I'm on my own epic journey with my fellowship.
+ Pawn system is fun and goofy at times and a cool way to interact with friends, co-op in this game would have been INCREDIBLE though.
+ I genuinely love all of the vocations. The combat feels so damn good, you cannot walk 10 feet in this game without getting into a combat encounter, but its fresh and fun every time. That's an incredible achievement.
+ The amount of freedom and systems at work here is mindboggling.
+ Customization is also extremely impressive. The character creator is one of the best I have ever seen, and there is huge amount of armor variety.
+ The way that huge monsters interact with the game physics had me grinning from ear to ear.
+ meat cutscenes.
CONS:
- Performance is the biggest one, 30 fps isn't a deal breaker because the rest of the game is so good, but it does hold it back. Anything below that is unacceptable and needs to be resolved.
- NPC pop in is weird and can disrupt quests.
- Story feels uninspired, but its not a huge deal since that's not one of the big draws for this game. Dialogue is also uninteresting. ESPECIALLY with pawns, wish they had more things to say.
- Probably the biggest actual gameplay critique I have is the lack of enemy variety. It's same 5 types of mobs, I would have liked at least double that number.
- There are microtransactions, but it has been blown way out of proportion. All of them can be obtained easily in game.
Overall I'm in love with this game, it has some rough edges, but it managed to completely suck me in.
