I would’ve been happy to have Prince of Persia back in any capacity but the first game in the series in 14 years being this good is more than I could’ve hoped for. This game was a blast from beginning to end, with my momentum only slowed somewhat by some truly punishing platforming and boss fights towards the end. Gorgeous art style and environments, awesome combat, and some of the most exciting platforming I’ve seen for a while. I can only hope we see more from this series in the future.
The odd glitch aside, this still holds up as a fantastic puzzle game. The story, world-building, characters, and writing are now among my favourites in gaming. This is also one of the most consistently funny games I’ve ever played - playing Grim Fandango for the first time was a joy, even if the puzzles did completely stump me more times than I’d like to admit.
