i got a big soft spot for this game but it's undeniably sort of a mess. like so many games of its type, i wish i could revisit it but strip out all the gunplay. im just here for the goofy plot and fun meta bits.

pretty cool game about how quickly you can get banned from a discord for doing MS Paint drawings of a pitching machine saying "i want to get eaten by a giant squid". honestly this is ostensibly a community game about screaming at a random number generator, but really it's a CIA experiment in creating the most out-of-pocket userbase ever seen in videogames.

anyway crabs rule, luis acevedo must be incinerated, the garages are a bunch of babies who can't hit the ball, and tillman henderson is a war criminal

edit: i have just been informed that they renamed a player called Groverhaus because the userbase complained it was problematic and have lowered my rating accordingly. i would say i'm doing it in solidarity with groverhaus but that piece of shit is the polar opposite of solid lol

david cage games are just fucking Embarassing, you know? like you're constantly embarrassed for everyone involved, to be committing so much dedicated craft to something so bad.

just sort of perfect, you know? i remember playing it at trade events for years before it eventually came out and that gave it this real storied feel that i haven't had from a game in a while, that feeling of a friend you trust grabbing you and saying "yo you GOTTA play this". that's something you cant recapture really but it's very precious to me, and so, too, is this game.

2012

some people love games with fake languages you have to learn! theyre a complex and interesting mystery which you can really bury yourself in and get a lot from! anyway im not one of those people.

A deep and moving exploration of the complex sociocultural factors leading to hahaha just kidding pew pew eat shit loser

honestly bumped up a couple stars by just how big dick a move it is to continue to call it garrys mod even when it gets to commercial release. aspirational.

2008

delightful little game about the dangers of posting hole

this never got an official release but i adored it whenever i got a chance to play it at events. one of those games of pure oki which was part of the resurgence of offline multiplayer at the time; i'd love to see a full release one day.

sometimes you play a game jam game which just blows you away. so glad this got expanded out into a full thing, deserves every bit of success it got.

it's rare that a video game discovers a new way to make you feel Cool, but superhot does it a couple of times every level. what more could you want.

small domino: initial decision not to translate danganronpa
