Short and sweet with a decent plot and I'm very happy with the ending. I absolutely love Kaito and the insights we got into his character were delightful.

With that being said, this DLC is very overpriced and I feel like they could've expanded more like letting us take Kaito to Ijincho or at least give him a few more side activities.

An overall improvement over the first game.

The story is no longer riddled with unnecessary filler and the pacing is much better. I guess the thing that I liked the least is that the mystery is pretty much over about two thirds into the game.

The last third felt like repeating the same ideas over and over with some revelations here and there that ended up falling a bit flat because the player already has the full picture.

I don't think this is necessarily bad, not everything has to have constant plot twists but it did make the game die out a bit for me.

The combat is much better and I appreciated the amount of side content. However I still feel like some of the mechanics like stealth and parkour were way too much on-rails. Why the hell do I need to distract someone with a coin before taking them out when I approach them for behind? Why do I need to inspect my surroundings before attempting to parkour? Why doesn't the game let me run freely during chase sequences like in the older yakuza games?

Still I heavily recommend this game, I might even come back and try to platinum it.

Looking forward to the Kaito files!

You can tell a lot of love and care was put into this remaster. I only played tiberium dawn but I'm sure red alert plays fine as well with the new quality of life changes and revamped UX.
glad to see they got frank klepacki back on this

Has a few pacing issues and some annoying filler in the main story. Also the tailing missions are boring and the chasing sequences were a letdown when compared to the yakuza.
Other than that, this is an amazing game.

I guess for the long time fans of the series this game might've been a bit disappointing due to it having less content.
However, as a newcomer to the series and having just played yakuza 5, I really appreciated the smaller scope and the more personal story this game tells.
It was easier to follow, the supporting cast of characters is great and very memorable, the gameplay is a bit rough but that's to be expected because of the engine change.
I had a blast

Someone needs to organize a writing workshop at Square Enix HQ

I was tricked into pre-ordering this game by the demo and I even bought a PS5 just to play it. I got such a strong Ivalice vibe from it and I was expecting some quality political intrigue from the way the demo set the scene.

Boy was I wrong... Instead we got some half-baked subplots with some predictable twists that eventually degenerated into a bland "save the world" type of deal.

Having played FFXIV and all of its expansions I was expecting CBU3 to bring in their A game when it comes to writing a good story, especially since Heavensward and Shadowbringers were so good. Instead, it seems they brought in the worst the MMO had to offer: a main scenario with unnecessary filler quests that rarely contribute to the lore, worldbuilding, or character development.

With that, we have a game that doesn't know on what to focus for more than half of its length. At some point, I just wanted it to end because I knew nothing significant would come out of it by the end — and I was right.

The gameplay is great, the battle system is very fun and I like that it rewards finesse as opposed to mindlessly mashing buttons, but I did miss some elements from the series like status effects. Also, the crafting mechanism is a complete joke since you always get the best weapon available at key points in the story.

The eikon battles absolutely carry this game and other games are going to have a hard time rivalling these spectacular scenes, but I'm afraid that's the only thing noteworthy about the game.

Overall, the game did not resonate with me but I'm happy to have played it and this is definitely a step in the right direction, coming from FFXV.

Doesn't deserve the hate it gets.

The plot on this game feels like a fever dream and the characters seem to be completely fine with it which makes you wonder if this was intentional or if it's just poor writing and direction.
Regardless, the artistic direction on this one is among the best in the series and the music is great as always.
The junction system is not my favorite but it's definitely unique in its own way and I can respect that.

Very experimental, very campy, definitely a lot of fun to be had here.

The visuals are great and the soundtrack is pretty good too. The gameplay felt more braindead than the first game and feels incredibly less rewarding with how easy it is to pull of really high jumps with little to no momentum and way less puzzle solving involved. The story had potential but it should've been written by a different person because it fell absolutely flat.
Overall, a huge disappointment but thanks solar fields for the score I guess

The amount of ways you can softlock in this game are ridiculous. If you're thinking of going in blind save yourself the trouble and read a guide as you go, trust me.

Aside from that, the game is honestly pretty fun and the story is campy and entertaining. The soundtrack is stellar!

It's a good remaster and the changes in combat are very much welcome. I also did not mind the new VA who seems to put so many people off, which I can see why. However there's only so much you can do with dialogues as terrible as the ones present in this game.

The game pushes the FF7 lore way too far with the introduction of Genesis which serves absolutely no purpose but to be flashy for the sake of being flashy.

Overall this could've been a great game but the writing is terrible and sounds more like fanfiction. Sometimes some things are better left alone or unexplained and in this case I wish this game was not part of the canon.

Overall, I like the game for what it is and I like that it sets the stage for FF7 but it's one of those games that I have to tell newcomers to the series not to take too seriously.

I enjoyed this game and I think it's very good considering it came out in 2007. However it makes you run way too many errands: chapter 2 alone is reason enough for me not to replay this game. Too much filler to an otherwise decent story filled with interesting and funny dialogues.

Improves on everything the first game offered and delivers a memorable experience with impressive attention to detail. Still a charming game to this day.

The best Sims game if you like to build and play dress-up but probably the most empty and charmless when it comes to live gameplay. Also, the amount of DLC for this game is absurd.
