This is the definitive Battle Royale game. The devs have managed to innovate the genre with new ideas and also delivered the most polished game out of the box. They do not offer new content in an unhealthy (for the devs) pace as epic games does, no matter the collaterals, but when they release something it is always working out quite well.
The core game, movement, guns, the maps, all of it feels well balanced and just right.
On top of that, this game has the least punishing and frustrating ranking system of them all and so I really stay engaged with the game while grinding. The only thing that is ok’ish, is the cosmetics part and the battle pass. Most of the stuff just doesn’t grab my attention the way that for example fortnite cosmetics do. But that’s one of a kind I guess.

I have played Apex since day 1. A battle royale made by the Titanfall team, in the same universe? Aye, that's made for me.
And it was, and all. All of that incredible gunplay from TItanfall 2 carries through to Apex, minus the titans and wallrunning - but the legends and their different skills more than make up for that. What a cast, too! Coming out the gate with two black women, a nonbinary hunter, a cool robot and a goth is a statement of intent, and it's one that the game and the team have lived up to,
Apex just keeps getting better, too. In the two years since launch, the number of legends has more than doubled, they've added two extra maps, a short-form skrimishing mode, guns, skins, the works. You can go the whole time without ever paying and still have a great time, but you'll almost definitely want to chuch Respawn a few quid anyway because of what a good time you're having.
Just don't play the Switch version. Oofah doofah

I know this is controversial but i think fortnite is way more fun lol. The mobility is nice but really feels like its sorely missing double jump, and the UI is honestly disgustingly overcramped. This also just feels way more luck than skill based with the different armor varieties. I see why people like this and cant say its bad, but I also cant say I was a big fan of this and the majority of the fun I had playing can just be contributed to the fact I was playing with the bf
if i was gonna like any battle royale type game i think it would've been this one. the characters are great. tho take wayyy too long to unlock, which seems to be an unfortunate theme in these free to play character-based games, like valorant and overwatch 2. i've played like 5 hours of this and still haven't gotten a single new character. which i don't like!!! gibraltar is great don't get me wrong but let me try loba and seer they look so sick!!!
the real problem i have with games like this tho is i just don't like looting! i don't wanna spend like 10 minutes sneaking around the map trying to find a decent gun and ammo and armor only to die in the first combat opportunity i have because i'm not good yet. inventory management makes me anxious! i want to just have my little gun with enough ammo to last and play as a cute cowboy. is that so much to ask :'(
obv this complaint is more towards the genre than the game itself. if i were into this style of looter shooter gameplay then i think i'd love this game. just not for me sadly. bit too slow paced for my liking

This game doesn't know when to stop. Every single thing in it is put in place so as to facilitate the player's relationship with the object - the way you glide, shoot and relate to its characters. So of course it's fun - at times exhilaratingly so - but I find myself demanding an annoyance, a chance to breathe that would get in the way of this constant flow of "things".
This is not Respawn's design though, because Apex Legends is slick, accomplished. But just as I can play ten games in a row while finding new ways to approach its gunfights, I will put it down at a moment's notice and leave with no hesitation, no sense of longing.
Apex Legends is violently pedestrian.
[Updated since I replayed the game quite a bit these days]

With the amount of tired free-to-play battle royale’s that the gaming industry spews out every year, it’s refreshing to get one that’s actually… sorta good? I’m not saying it’s perfect by any means, but it’s certainly unique in ways that many aren’t.
I’d say its movement is probably its biggest advantage over other battle royale’s; running, sliding, and wall-jumping feels great, and the game would fundamentally not work the same way without these mechanics.
The legends all feel pretty unique — I only have like three, apart from the default ones — so I’m assuming a bit; but judging from the ones that I do have, they all feel wildly different, which can change gameplay up in cool ways.
Remember when Fortnite had a good map? and then proceeded to make a new one that was 10x worse? and then did it again? because I sure do! and the game was all the worse for it. Apex Legends does the smart thing, so instead of scrapping the old maps, they put them on… rotation?? what a fucking wild and crazy idea, honestly. (Thank you Respawn)
I will say that the game isn’t very accessible to new players, seeming as you have to play for around 30 hours to unlock a single legend; and on top of that, it doesn't even have a solo mode, which is a weird choice. (Fuck you Respawn)

I love this game and I've put a ton of hours in it. The constant changes to gameplay can get a little frustrating but I still love it. I love the lore and the fact that I can play with friends. It's absolutely one of my favorite games but I'm definitely going to be hard on it because there are still a lot of issues with it and they tend to cater towards pro players over casual players a lot.
