Too much MTX. Probably will come back to it in a few years

a fantastic game that has been obliterated by aggressive monetisation. For shame.

In many ways this is exactly what I wanted from a GT game: licenses are back, the cafe menus structure makes for a nicely directed single player 'campaign' and the car fandom/museum aspect is even better (and quirkier) than ever. The problem is that once the credits have rolled I've found absolutely no desire to go back to it.

I've talked about the curate's egg in other games as a lazy shorthand for a good game negatively affected by a single aspect. In this one I think it's closer to the original story of a rotten core that you can try to get around but eventually cannot avoid. In this game it's the GAAS implementation. Credit rewards are far too low - I can't even afford one of the high end cars from Brand Central after 20 hours in the game, assuming the game actually allows me to buy one. The game's always online and it fails silently if you do something like go into rest mode in the middle of a multi-race series. I've lost multiple races' worth of progress from this. Most of all though is the way the game cycles stuff in and out to make you try and log in every day. I've packed in multiple mobile games recently because of the amount of time I was spending doing my daily logins and this is in a similar place. At that point it stopped feeling like a fun game and went into that cynical GAAS hole, where I just won the right to buy that Koenigsegg but only for the next 7 days, better get earning credits! Want a particular car? Well you'd better wait for it to turn up!

When I went through the game I really enjoyed the progression from my Mazda Demio up to the racing thoroughbreds in the end, via some real classics on the way. After playing another Forza Horizon game where I could rely on two or three cars (FH4 in particular just boiled me down to driving a Ferrari F40 around everywhere) it was a much better sense of progression. In the end though, I do want to buy my Ferrari F40 but the game won't let me. Apparently it was in the Legends area a fortnight ago, at over three times the price it was in GT Sport. I guess I missed out.

First system seller for ps5.

The haptics really make it feel like you can feel the breaks and acceleration and helps you stay on the line.

Also its almost Edutainment or a large ad with the history of cars in the game.

I was as invested in this as TEST DRIVE UNLIMITED 2 or METROPOLIS STREET RACER. Haptics, handling and actual gameplay are absolute top tier.

I will doubtless come back to this on a regular basis just to experience it with a new weekly spotify playlist in the background. It seems perfectly suited to that

I'm happy to just have the car from OUTRUN and Burt Reynolds Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit, gameplay is everything to me, so the grind will not affect my enjoyment in the slightest. However for car enthusiasts and completionists, altering the economy post launch was a serious red flag.

The stench of microtransations is very real for those with a certain mindset.

Mit ganz viel Liebe fürs Automobil, der motivierenden Fahrerkarriere, Missionen und Lizenzen kehrt die Reihe erfolgreich zurück zu ihren Wurzeln.

why this just gt sport but it looks slightly better and cars can fly :(

GT7 is the first Grand Turismo game I've played. I didn't expect to like it, but turns out taking the perfect corner, breaking at the correct time and making sure the car doesn't drift while turning at the highest speed possible is not only harder than I anticipated, it's also really fun. Collecting cars and getting to know about their technology and history was really interesting.

Though making races so long at the second half of the game really killed my interest. Maybe mixing up short and long races across the whole game would had made the gameplay feel more varied. Cars being so expensive to purchase doesn't help either.

i like it, but it's one of my least favorite gt games. this feels like if a different dev was given the reigns to the gran turismo franchise, the vibes are off. good tracks, great physics, best customization in the series to date, but i feel no motivation to 100% this one. nowhere near as much variety in the events as previous games, feels like a third of the menus are wtc championships. everything is very noticeably centered around psn connectivity even in singleplayer. being able to buy most of the cars in the game is just rng with the rotating stock at the used dealership and the legend dealership, and if you arent interested in/already have something it takes like 4 real life days to rotate a new car into that slot at the dealer. also has one of, if not the worst money grinds in the series, you need over 30 mill to buy all the cars you need for the platinum trophy. i have no idea what the multiplayer is like, havent touched it; i played gt sport a lil bit back in like 2019 and i hated it, and this game also has sport mode so i'll pass. overall this game is alright, but the worst main series gt since the original, and it's a damn shame grid legends got overshadowed by this due to ea's genius plan to release it exactly one week before gt7. go play that game instead, youll almost certainly like it more.

A nice return to form for the franchise that really does everything I expected of it. I feel like the car catalogue seems smaller but at least they have been proactively updating the game and adding new cars which is nice. Looks gorgeous as well and the music is great as always.

First game I tried out on my PS5. Absolute system showcase. The sound design, the haptic feedback, the graphics. I dont like to be a nerd like that but for a driving simulator those features really shine.

The Definitive Driving Sim.

This game is very pretty. Not just the cars themselves, but the lighting and weather effects are pretty incredible. The cars handle brilliantly and the new "Licence Centre" mode is a whole lot of fun to experiment with and perfect your driving skills.

However, despite Gran Turismo 7 being "The Definitive Driving Sim", cars just really haven't changed that much since Gran Turismo 6 released in 2013. It's good, but not entirely unique.

Looks nice but thats about all i'll give it.

Very strange game, beat it by playing bits of it at a time after buying on release. The updates really changed the game back and forth in a lot of ways. What you're left with is a game with rock solid core gameplay and mechanics, with an extremely weird design linking everything around that. Used car inventories are weirdly limited, most of the cars you're expected to drive are given to you for free, and buying them feels like it's very much off the beaten path. That being said, the cars you're given for free do give you a pretty good path through the most important parts of automotive enthusiasm, so I'm not as mad as some really dedicated series veterans.
That core setup though is incredible, I'm a little annoyed that this game is even available on the PS4 (even though I started playing there and only played the last third or so on PS5 once I got it), the game is the perfect showcase of the PS5's capabilities, both in the obvious sense of being visually impressive, but also making the quirks of the DualSense controller feel like genuinely useful ideas (particularly the trigger feedback) and not gimmicks. Driving in this game just feels right in a way that doesn't require dealing with the ridiculous overhead and technical hangups of Serious PC Sim Racers. The primary gameplay loop is the most important part of a game, and this nails it, I tend to be pretty forgiving on other things.
This score is being given under the assumption that in a decade when they pull the plug on the servers, they'll update the game so that it's still playable, please downgrade to 0.5 stars if they don't.

im not a huge fan of sim-racing games but all the DF coverage leading up to release convinced me to give it a try and I absolutley loved it. A visual treat and it feels great to get better at the game, even if im just racing the computer the whole time. Only qualm is that its always online and exclusivity/price of higher end cars :/

An absolutely incredible racing game held back by its always online DRM.

The rolling starts need to die, but unfortunately that can't happen until Polyphony invests in some form of a proper racing AI instead of mindless path following algorithm. The economy is extremely predatory and feels like it has been designed by someone who knows exactly what they are doing, but does not understand what this game is. Kaz, if you are reading this, I can help you out. I love the series and know my shit around game economy.

First time I'm playing a GT, or a driving simulator for that matter. I have to say, it's a game made with a lot of appreciation for cars and races, full of trivia or minute details. The campaign does a good job getting you into the specifics of the game, and streamlining your experience with the game, starting from more basic concepts and expanding to stuff like the different types of cars, the need of tuning and the importance of tires or the way race tracks change. Difficulty wise, I think it's challenging enough, with the requirements for Gold during the game's challenges being rather harsh actually. It makes you learn and experiment way more than I expected. Lastly, the photo mode in this game is rather good, and I like the social aspect of it, like sharing a cool decal or a rare car's photo.

The elephant in the room is the mtx, right now it feels like there's a lot of grinding in order to be able to afford the rare cars, and the roulette system is really damn stingy. Hagerty is an interesting concept where prices of cars match their real world value, but combined with the mtx, it feels like such a terrible implementation that works against the player. Also, the online only requirement sours the game a lot, as it's perfectly playable for its rather meaty single player content, the campaign and the various challenges.

Overall, definitely a great game for fans of cars and racing, that seems perfect for newcomers to the series as well, and can be enjoyed solo. Hopefully, Polyphony will improve the game's rewards and make the mtx less of an issue.

The way the haptics make every car feel different is fantastic, and the Café career mode makes even me, someone completely unfamiliar with car culture, appreciate the art, sport, and different brands. However, the monetization is really sketchy, especially for the premium price, and the tracks look slightly unpolished at times.

Game is good, but feels like an Expanded and Enhanced version of Gran Turismo Sport.

Loses half a star for the slightly disgraceful pushing of micro-transactions in a £70 game. But the game itself is magnificent!

would be higher if not for locking content behind online status

Very fun single player in this one - the menus, in particular, have a good progression. It's a better introduction to Gran Turismo than I remember from past games and brought me throughout the offerings of the game. Single-make races and track unlocks are steady, and I found myself enjoying the tuning, practice laps, license exams, and missions more than in the last several entries. Too bad the economy is a complete mess, not to mention the obviously terrible odds on the roulette tickets. The game would simply be better without them. Oh well, the racing is the focus and highlight, anyway, and the racing is good.

First Gran Turismo and driving Sim I've played and came out really enjoying it. I say this as someone who knows little to nothing about cars.

There's something so chill and relaxing about playing through this games campaign. It weirdly reminded me of Picross 3D Round 2 for the 3DS in its presentation.

Graphically this game is just so aesthetically pleasing. It has such a clean look to it. It's just perfectly displayed without the usual blur or pixelation you see in some games nowadays.

Overall just a real pleasant experience.

Ok, so for the First Two hours of this game, i thought that GT7 was an Amazing game but as i progressed through the campaign It made me realize that it's One of the most dissapointing games i've ever played as a big Gran turismo fan. It's so Damn Linear and It constantly holds your hand every second. Also not to mention the (mostly) Poor ai, the amount of grinding that you have to do, the lack of in game content & variety of events, the bad UI and it's predatory microtransactions.

5/10

pretty good, the progression is nicely curved. the haptics on the dualsense are incredible. feels like there's slightly less cars than in 6, but that might not be true. (I have not counted.)

Fast & Chillout : the game.
Very pleased to take the wheel again and race at full speed.
But the true happiness playing this new Gran Turismo comes from the Café. I also like the museum side of the Gran Turismo franchise.
