i am so grateful that the events of this game were (almost) completely forgotten in kh3

Good improvement over the ideas in Birth By Sleep, much more fluid and fun to play, world design is a bit too open with too little to do, but still fun to run around and fight in. Good way of filtering out the idiots who weren't really into the series anyway.

The HD version makes this a lot more tolerable

It's ok. Kinda feels like a set up game for what is to come and also to answer some questions that were still in the air.

None of the bosses are good and the pacing was kinda wack, all the expository dialogue is in the last 2 hours. Still, I had fun messing around with the combat and I thought the story was satisfying enough.

Now this... this is a good Kingdom Hearts game. Right away, you're given a whole host of movement abilities and told to go fucking nuts. The command deck from Birth by Sleep is back, only without the insane tedium of the melding system. It's just find a cool new command, equip it, and fuck shit up. The game is always pushing you to move faster, fight faster, and all the while get better at dodging and planning your moves around a boss's attack patterns. Complex, yet still tied to that simple concept of slashy, satisfying combat that made Kingdom Hearts 1 so immediately lovable. In fact, aside from the titan that is KH1, this has to be the best game in the series by a landslide.

Dream Drop Distance, 3 D's, 3D, wait a second... wait HD what the fuck?

O final do jogo é insano.

Osaka team strikes again! It had its frustrating points, but interesting mechanics with the dream eaters. The world choices were fun, the flow motion was pretty unique. The story... was the most convoluted excuse to setup KH3.

Okay, Dream Drop Distance. You had me understanding most of the concepts for the KH storyline this far, but then when you add Young Xehanort into the mix with half-Xehanorts AND TIME TRAVEL, that's when you confuse me so much.

Besides the puzzling concept of time travel aside, Dream Drop Distance was alright. The gameplay itself was decent being akin to Birth by Sleep with the deck, but the added flowmotion was really fun to use as movement rather than attacks. The Dream Eaters were okay, although I didn't really care that much to take care of them as virtual pets for abilities as much, although I went for the vital abilities like Leaf Bracer and Second Chance asap. And the worlds felt a little too open to run around in honestly. Also, the new drop mechanic where you switch characters when the gauge empties, it's kinda lame as you can either manually drop or refill it with items, so in a way it got pointless.

But other than those, I enjoyed the game. Just less spirits to take care of for another playthrough when I plat the series. Also, for anyone who understands the time travel plot point, please let me know how it works cuz I cannot wrap my head around it.

My personal favorite entry into the KH franchise. Booting up the game and learning you have a strict time limit to play before the game boots you out of one storyline and into the other may sound frustrating and flow breaking, the game softens the blow by giving you points based on how much/how well you did which you can exchange for boosts and buffs such as dealing more damage or extending the timer whenever you swap over. After the first world I could easily finish an entire world in 1 sitting and manually swap over without having to break up the flow at all. I am a huge sucker for themes of duality, and this game exemplifies that to a T with Sora constantly struggling with Xemnas and the nobodies in his worlds and Riku getting harassed by Ansem and the heartless in his. The main gameplay gimmick of the game is this strange SMT esque pet collection that are used as temporary party members until you replace them for better ones. Decently interesting, doesn't take up too much time if you don't care and if you do there's an entire Nintendogs minigame to mess around with them.

The story is the pleb filter of the series. Most people will complain about the multiple Xehanorts being stupid, but the real issue with the story is that is poorly explains how the time travel works.

Generally I find that the worlds aren't as good as what is in other entries of the series, but flowmotion is a lot of fun to play with, even if it is absurdly broken.

balloonra vs nightmarish beings of darkness GO

best videogame of all time need i say more

HD actually fixes things up a lot, increases stagger, makes it faster to level Dream Eaters. NG+ makes it way more fun

This game is really fun. The flowmotion mechanic was fresh, new and fun. Happily the command deck system came back, but without the merge system it's actually... meh.
The worlds are great, mainly the Fantasia one.
The bosses aren't the best (they are, actually, really FAR from that, mainly Ansem and Anti-Coat Nightmare), but, it was fun after all.

just as fun as Birth By Sleep and loaded with fan service. My boys Riku and Axel getting what they're owed.

Damn good game, the story is a disaster, but the combat is great, the bosses towards the end are terrific, great music, and a few really great scenes among the mess. Not as good as KH1 or 2, but easily the third best so far. Excited to play 3

Good game, but I played it totally wrong which made it excruciatingly difficult for the final boss. I was able to beat the boss before it just barely, however I couldn't beat the final boss no matter what. I couldn't go back and grind either, so I just gave up and watched the ending on Youtube. I'm not proud of myself for doing this, but I had to.

Best movement gameplay in the series, pokemon feature is a bit repetitive if you want to max it out. A little hard as it should be. Sleep mechanic can be frustrating but you can play around easily

One of my favorite Kingdom Hearts games. The levels are unnecessarily huge in this game to make up for all the parkour mechanics they added but dang these world choices tho!!! Tron legacy!!! TWEWY!!! Three Musketeers!!! FANTASIA!!! THE ONLY GAME IN THE SERIES WITHOUT MFIN HERCULES!!!! I'm pretty meh when it comes to Disney properties so a lot of the worlds that you go through in other KH games were just eh but the choices they picked for this game were right up my alley. There's also a creature collecting sidegame that replaces traditional party members and I vibed with it ngl. Plotwise the game wasn't too interesting compared to other KH games and I think its done more to set things up for games to come. This game was a hella pleasant surprise and a highlight of my KH marathon (which I still cannot stress enough, do not marathon the kingdom hearts games)

If the monsters are spirits of dead children and sora makes them do his biddings for him, that means....

I only finished on 3DS. Honestly it's not bad as people made think, but I can understand how the Sora-Riku sleep gimmick can be annoying and feel narratively bad.
