Why are the only good modern Sonic games spinoffs?

Weaker than the first one, not as complex, but music is somehow better

Nobody and i mean nobody is seeing me in this game when i play shadow

Fun but not close to the first game

An acceptable bargain bin game for the PS2. I don't actually remember playing much multiplayer with this, but I had fun with time trials and the campaign. Fairly entertaining story from my vague memory, even if short. Unlockables are nice too.

This game was a whole lot of nothing. The game basically takes the sonic riders gameplay and simplifies it a lot. Considering the fact that the first game had a lot of mechanics and didn't really tell the player all too much about said mechanics, it definitely could be frustrating, especially to younger players, so I understand why they super simplified things here. I think they went a bit too overboard though, as now there's not really a lot to do in the races, and the game and track design pretty much tells you exactly when and where you should be using the various few mechanics that are in the game. It was easy and boring, i guess. The plot also was rather frivolous. Things just kinda happen and they keep happening until the credits abruptly roll, and they even like retconned the whole babylon rogue backstory to make them descendents of aliens rather than genies...???? idk. I will say though that while the music is kinda lukewarm and forgettable, the track themes and aesthetics are cool. Lots of watery and techno-y vibes throughout, and the game stays visually colorful and interesting, so I'll give it that. This was the one Wii sonic game I didn't pick up and play as a kid, and after playing through it finally now, I missed absolutely nothing.

Nowhere near as good as Riders 1

Apenas pesquise a Soundtrack aí no Spotify e seja feliz.

Another childhood classic. I'm kinda surprised that kid me understood these jank Controls. The gameplay is really difficult to grasp for newcomers but really fun when you get used to it. The story is bat shit insane and post game content is really fun too. Overall an underated racing game that just might tickle your fancy if you give it a shot

the fucking goat number 2 the music cums

Not as good as the original, but still a fun game. Let's all just pretend this is where the Riders series ended.

i never gave this game back to my friend

fun game to play, a bit flawed
love the ost though

People sleep on this game compared to the first one. The learning curve is pretty steep but once you learn it, this game is fun as hell.

It's okay, not nearly as good as the first.

Not entirely sure why I got this game since I didn't even like the first one, but I guess it's more hoverboard racing if you're into that specific aesthetic for whatever reason.

A short game, but rather fun for its short length.

Well worth the discounted price I purchased it for as a kid.

Much like the game before I have lots of fond memories playing this game. My cousin owned it, so technically I never played the campaign if there was one, but the co-op racing was always a fun way to spend the afternoon.

The Kinect controls were so bad I couldn't even play the game

There was some fun to be had here.

Zero Gravity takes all the complex elements of Sonic Riders and, instead of improving on them, mostly just gets rid of them. Their air gauge is gone, instead replaced by a gravity meter, while preparing for a jump has been changed to pressing the jump button at the last possible moment.

While I can see why some people would hate these changes, I personally found Zero Gravity much nicer to play, with some good track design (although there was one I hated, Crimson Crater) and surprisingly good graphics for the Wii, especially the water-based level. The story, while extremely short, has a more interesting story, plus some really nice cutscenes.

While I did enjoy this more than the first Sonic Riders, it also feels a bit too “safe”, and is a less interesting game overall. It’s just another mascot racing game, while the first game tried to be unique.
