I forgot how boring it is to play a bethesda game without mods and quicksaves. I didn't get too far, and the focus in building shit + the incredibly bad PC UI just really turned me off.

Everyone said that this game is good now so I tried it and it still sucks just as much as before. Though playing it with other people is fun so that's a net positive.

My first impressions with this game were abhorrent. There was absolutely nothing to do in this wasteland of a game. Since then Bethesda has updated it a ton, and with the hype of the Fallout TV show, I figured I'd dive in and give it another go. I mean yeah, there is certainly much more to do. I wouldn't say I absolutely hate the game now, but the content that was added isn't all that engaging. Most of it feels like busy work. Really, it feels like a watered down Fallout 4 with multiplayer slapped on top of it.

Really couldn’t force myself through it. Fallout 76 borrows a lot of the stuff I didn’t like about Fallout 4 and on top of that adds boring multiplayer game padding, and it’s not like the gunplay is at least enough to power through this. I can at least appreciate them trying new stuff like some of the wildlife in Appalachia and mutations, but those are about the only positives I took away from this. Writing is incredibly boring, the engine bogs down the experience, and there’s just not a ton of engaging content, if at all (in the base game, don’t know about the expansions). Here’s hoping the next Fallout game won’t be this much of a slog.

I should've never played this game because now everytime I see Fallout I get a bad taste in my mouth. An absolutely horrible introduction to this series and to whoever it was that made me play this game instead of any of the other Fallouts: Fuck You

Dude, I swear on my whole life people will get on the internet and just tell lies. All these lame ass normies that play like 3 video games a year watch Fallout on Amazon and are on Tiktok and shit now saying that this shit is sweet. Dude, tell me how this 6 year old game is STILL broken as fuck, still has awful netcode and graphical glitching. This is a fucking full release that plays and feels like an amateur's mod and its fucking embarrassing. The UI is shit, progression is shit, and building literally anything at all will require you to play for hours to find these randomized crafting blueprints for literally everything. This game is abysmal, I refuse to allow you people to whitewash this stain the same way you did Cyberpunk. The fucking game sucks, it sucked when it came out and it sucks now, stop peddling that fucking brainlet ass shit in an attempt to gaslight people into wasting their time with this GARBAGE.

It's not terrible, but it feels weird in a sense. I can't exactly put my finger on it.

la verdad que no es TAN mierda como dicen todos, pero sigue siendo bastante mierda. (Aunque es divertido dentro de todo)

I didn’t think I’d ever play Fallout 76 as I heard it had an abysmal launch.

It’s literally just Fallout 4 + Multiplayer Online.
This means the graphics are nice - for an early 2010s game. Oddly, this means the game almost feels nostalgic at this point.
But I think it’s excellent, so far it has all my favourite parts of Fallout 4, I like to just explore the world slowly. And I’m planning on playing it co-op which I think will enhance the experience quite a bit. The always-online / MMO aspect, I think, works in favour of Fallout’s setting - it makes the stakes feel a little higher in that you can’t game the system in the same ways you can in a single player game. Similarly, the tweaked survival system has put more emphasis on food, hydration and other chems beside Stimpacks.
The dialogue system from New Vegas makes a return, and that alone is making progressing through the campaign more enjoyable than Fallout 4 for me.
I’m playing as a revolver-toting gunslinger, but I receive about 6 bullets for every enemy I kill with 1 or 2, meaning I’ve amassed 800 revolver bullets in just a few hours, so that could’ve been reworked a little - I don’t have any reason to try other weapons. Nonetheless, it runs very well on PS5 and the shooting is the best it’s been in a Fallout title.
The C.A.M.P system also looks like a good appropriation from Fallout 4’s building system.

I’m enjoying this a good amount.

Fallout 4 but it somehow feels even more vapid and empty

I have to say that waiting almost 5 years after release was probably the best decision I possibly could have made.

Is this game fantastic and have minimal flaws? Absolutely not. This is a watered down version of fallout 4 at best with a neutered VATS system with no slow mo kills. In terms of general combat, it’s basically fallout 4 which was serviceable. It returns to the old dialogue system prior to 4, and has a crafting system I want to meaningfully interact with.

With that said, this is the first multiplayer game in years that has got me playing for 20+ hours (36 hours at time of writing) and even interacting with others. The game world is incredibly chill to play in. The relaxed nature has made exploring and discovery a fun and simple experience. The part of the gameplay loop that grabbed me is that I feel like I am cycling weapons quite often due to ammo scarcity. It changes up ever so slightly how I play which keeps the combat fresh.

One of the bigger pluses is being 36 hours in that I haven’t hit a single point where I have felt a need to spend money. Which for a live service game is quite nice.

It has also been the first game my significant other and I have put serious time in to playing together, which bridging the gap between our tastes has been hard, but this did it which makes the game slightly more special for me.

If you’re looking for an exceptionally chill experience, I would say to at the very least, try FO76. It’s a completely serviceable game after 5 years and I think offers one of the more interesting living/virtual worlds you can operate in. It’s always neat seeing how others build their little outposts and personalize them.

All in all, FO76 is a totally serviceable game 5 years later that while it doesn’t reach the heights of previous fallout games, I do think it provides a unique experience of the fallout world that we didn’t have prior.

Fallout 76 had a rough start, no doubt about it. It was buggy, felt empty, and was missing that classic Fallout charm... BUT, with all the updates and expansions, it's actually a pretty fun game now! There's way more to do, NPCs bring life to the world, and exploring Appalachia with friends is a good time. It's still not perfect - the quests can be grindy, and it's not what I wanted from a Fallout MMO. But if you missed it at launch and like the core Fallout experience, it might be worth a second look.

When it launched it was a mess now that it's worked through it's kinks it's a ton of fun with a better story and better gameplay with a great game world to mess around in. The problem is when the server is laggy or has issues but the more time clearly Bethesda cares about this game cause its keeps getting better and better. If they gave the team more time this could have started like this.

Pese al desastre que fue cuando salio, hoy en día es un juego muy disfrutable y divertido con amigos y en solitario.

super underrated game in the series! no man's sky type deal where it sucked on launch, but rocks now. most people making fun of it haven't played it in years, or at all. the main story is lackluster but it's not really the point. the nuka world event was pretty neat, some of the side quests are cool, and i like the idea of being able to drop nukes on the world for some reason. take it as a multiplayer fallout game instead of fallout 4.5, and you get a pretty fun experience

Despite tweaking the ini file, turning off vsync to uncap the framerate, and turning down the graphics settings, I can't get this to run at a consistent 60 fps. The framerate is all over the place - it goes from 40 to 70 to 50 to 120 to 30, seemingly at random. It appears there is an actual improvement in Fallout 76 since its initial release (though I'm sceptical to what extent this may be), but I'm unable to experience it due to pathetic techincal issues, typical of Bethesda.

i dont know man it just scratches that fucking itch

Really bizarre. Simultaneously incredibly shallow and incredibly overwhelming. Runs like shit despite looking worse than Fallout 4. It feels... wrong to play, if that makes sense. But in a indescribable sort of way; it just doesn't feel right. There's no atmosphere, both because they do a dreadful job at establishing an interesting world and, y'know, because it's a multiplayer game. Just doesn't work on any level, utterly atrocious idea.

People can laugh if they want but the game is actually good now. I enjoy the gameplay loop of 4 and now with NPCs and plenty of quests the game is basically fallout 4 with some live service multiplayer on top, which i think mostly works, other than the really awful fallout 1st and purchasable items such as repair kits, scrap kits and locking certain storage behind paywalls. The base story of 76, while a bit samey at times, is actually pretty good and has some pretty well written characters that would be even better if they were, y'know, actually characters and not just logs. The wastelanders update added a different main quest which im most of the way through, and outside of some grind its definitely improved. I'm excited to get into more of the content. If you like the gameplay loop of fallout 4 and you can tolerate some of the online aspects, its worth playing.

Mothman my beloved. Why is the online mode so.. weird with the quest stystem

If I could give this 0 stars I would. Genuinely terrible game. Even with 3 of my friends it was a slog. I was tricked by the internet into believing this game was actually good now. Lesson learned, everyone on twitter has terrible game tastes.

A dumbed-down version of Fallout 4 that has multiplayer components.

While the game suffers from floaty controls, abysmal writing, looting systems and god awful SPECIAL trading packs system, it's no excuse that Fallout 76 has the best map among Bethesda's releases.

Appalachia's diverse biomes, alongside its various flora and fauna, and the sheer amount of details that are scattered in every corner are delightful to see. Yes, the textures are often blurry and your frames are all over the place, but its hard to deny that the game's art direction is really strong.

Multiplayer component is kinda barebones but events and especially the community itself are pretty cool. Plans, or recipes that are required to unlock various craftables, are grindy, but getting them and improving your C.A.M.P's appearance and your character's feels really nice!

Microtransactions are bad, regardless if its functional or cosmetic, no other reason for that.

Overall, I find Fallout 76 as an enjoyable game. I'd like to shit all over FO76, but I find it to be one of the most highly enjoyable 6/10 games that I've played.

Despite the character controller that's somehow worse than FO4 and the lack of free singleplayer modes (and single-player in general, as you always connect to a server, regardless of private worlds), I think this is one helluva game. And an even better fallout game. The world is absolutely beautiful and expertly woven into the story of the land.
HOWEVER, it IS an online game and you do have to play it like one. You cannot rush through it. It is meant to be played for a long time, grinding through levels and slowing down the pace of gameplay. I think a lot of Fallout fans are turned off by this shift.
The abysmal launch is certainly a large part of this game's legacy, but games nowadays are a sort of living thing, changing over time. At the present moment, Fallout 76 is a good-ass game.

It's definitely a better experience since launch, but it being constantly online still makes the game feel floaty and unresponsive.

first things first, obviously it's a live service game. it's got the shitty monetization practices we've all grown to abhor over the past decade. you will never see me defending that in particular.

but damn, it is honestly so fucking fun to go questing, exploring, and killing in fallout with your friends. i have tried and failed to find an MMO that kept my attention for more than a dozen hours or so. but this has been so fun to play, especially with friends. i'm 30 hours in, so maybe that will change as i play more, but for now, this is a solid experience if you love fallout.
