Little robot boi searching for his robot gal in a gorgeous hand-drawn game with no dialogue.

A very neat, artistically beautiful little point and click about dingy little robots in a dingy little world.

SO good. The game with the absolutely best riddles ever. The main character is just lovable. Must-play game.

I finally finished a long-forgotten mission and It brought back so many childhood memories for me
and after all these years, Berta still has a place in my heart...

ALSO! That bastard in the bar with his fucking annoying laugh, he REALLY knows how to play tic-tac-toe xD

A super charming and adorable point & click adventure game made in the classic vein. It doesn't do anything to evolve the genre, nor does it aspire to, but for what it is Machinarium is a game with top notch presentation, a reasonable level in puzzle difficulty and a campaign that doesn't outstay its welcome. The very definition of 'reliable'.

absolutely gorgeous game with some of the most "what the fuck am i doing" puzzles of all time. i can totally forgive it for that though, cuz you're really not gonna get another game that looks quite like machinarium. i'd just recommend a guide and a bit of patience

Incredibly charming. Really cute adventure with a robot and his girlfriend. Outstanding soundtrack and great puzzles. Loved this game, can't wait to play Samorost!

Cute, fun and challenging at times. I love this kind of Point & Click games.

My favorite puzzle game of all time, I’ve replayed it dozens of times. Beautiful art and gorgeous soundtrack.

Such a cool-looking game! The puzzles were challenging but entertaining and I really enjoyed the whole experience!

Nothing that stands out to me beside the design and some okay puzzles, but there is a problem that bothered me a lot

The game is kinda old and there isn't a "options" tab, so I had to ajust the audio in windows mixer, but every time I passed a level, it would go to 100 again

I'm deaf now 👍🏼

The game from 2009 that called attention to the unique beauty of Amanita design. Many were its copycats, all forgotten. Machinarium reigns supreme, a timeless timecapsule to that time in the 2000. Play this, play Braid, and play everything from Amanita - I recommend Samorost 3 as a followup. Play on your phone, whatever. But play.

might actually be the first game i ever played.. its so cute the puzzles r hard ngl and i remember being literally 4 years old and my dad helping me with them. never got past the tic tac toe as a little child so i finally got to see this game after 2009

Good puzzle game.

Except for the puzzles.

A charming steampunk aesthetic paired with a cute story makes for quite the lovely adventure experience.

I don't really like Puzzle games, the only puzzle game that I enjoyed playing was Portal 2. I knew about Machinarium for a long time, but didn't really play it I only loved to just listen to the ost. Now I can say that Machinarium is one of the best puzzle games with Portal 2!

The OST is very good, level/map design is also decent. The way that the puzzle work is interesting and fun to figure out how to solve them. It sometimes can be tedious and irritating, but that's just like 1-2 times I have experienced that. The "Lore" if you'd call it that is funny and I laugh whenever I remember the Robot's flashbacks with the other Robots.
There's mini games too. the most notable and rememberable for me is the Connect game with that fucking robot I pray for his downfall every time I remember him. THE MF NEVER TOUCHES GRASS ONLY TRYHARDING ON CONNECT FFS.

I recommend to play it with a friend (stream it on discord or invite them to watch on Steam) and try to solve them together, you'll have so much fun.

Fun game, I recommend it even if you were not in the point and click puzzle solving games. Trust me I too don't love them, but this game is an exception!

Machinarium is a charming point and click puzzle solving game akin to the old LucasArts games. The art style is absolutely stunning and it runs at a smooth framerate. Game aside, I would love to see an animated film revolving around this game’s plot with the same animation style.

In Machinarium you control a robot starting out at a junkyard, as you progress you slowly reveal his intentions and what got him to the junkyard in the first place. Along the way you will solve puzzles and collect items to unlock your progression. Some of the puzzles take a short time to learn but a long time to master. The game does offer an inbuilt guide however you need to complete a mini game just to open it up. I couldn’t even complete the minigame.

I have no shame in admitting the puzzles in this game were above my intellect level so I used a YouTube walkthrough for most of the puzzles. I’d much rather go through this game at a nice pace and have fond memories of it than I would rage quit the game out of frustration and only remember the bad things about it.

Machinarium had been on my backlog for the past 10 years or so and I’m finally glad I got to play it and complete it. It’s a beautiful, well animated and well detailed game with sweet interactions with the other robots. It’s just a shame this game isn’t completely accessible for everyone due to the very hard puzzles.

Amazing style everywhere and very cute story.

I wanted to like this more, being a big fan of point and click adventure games of the past, and this having such glaringly positive reviews, I expected great things.

Ultimately I was let down, as, although it was good, it wasn't great. The movement is frustratingly slow, some of the minigames are really needlessly long, and it just didn't really do anything to stand out. Perhaps it has aged poorly, as I am playing it rather late on in it's life.

Visually stunning and creative.
It's not as good as Samorost but still worth it.

I never actually finished it though. Some of the puzzles are hard to understand which is common for these type of games (sometimes it's more like trying to understand the devs' heads than following logic).
It can get boring after some time.

J'hésite franchement à lui mettre 5 étoiles parce que c'est un classique parmi les classiques.

Absolutely charming. It's just a feel good game, it's impossible to not make you smile. The puzzles are all descent with one or two being a bit obtuse. The graphics and music are fantastic.

lo jugue de chiquito muy bueno

Sights & Sounds
- I love the style of the game. It feels like I'm playing a watercolor painting
- The character designs are also great. Lots of personality despite being robots
- The music is pretty good, but not very memorable

Story & Vibes
- The story is very simple: you're a little robot trying to save your friend from captivity
- The game is very relaxing despite the objective defined by the plot. It's easy to take your time and get lost in the little visual details

Playability & Replayability
- It's a point-and-click adventure game, and the gameplay doesn't break that mold very often
- Some of the puzzles are pretty devious, but exploration, intuition, and trying different things will usually get you there in the end
- I don't think any of the achievements are missable, so it's pretty simple to 100% this game. As such, there's not a lot to motivate a replay

Overall Impressions & Performance
- It's an easy game to recommend to adventure game enthusiasts. Others may find the simple plot and focus on puzzles to be a little dry
- Ran flawlessly on the Steam Deck

Final Verdict
- 7.5/10. A fun, pretty little game. It should only take a few hours to 100% it

A unique, lovingly crafted game.

I'm not too familiar with the point and click genre, but this feels like it's got to be one of the better ones. It's got an intricately detailed world realised in stunning visuals with a unique art style, and some consistently pretty great music throughout. I perhaps wasn't the biggest fan of the sound design; being a robot world, everything is constantly creaking and clanking and groaning, and the character voices are just... weird, but I guess it does all help to sell the world.

The puzzles are a bit more hit and miss; the standard point-and-click / inventory puzzles are mostly good (with the occasional splash of some pretty heavy moon logic, but that's just a given for this genre), but the more self-contained puzzles can be pretty disengaging or frustrating (e.g. sliding block puzzles, a prolonged Space Invaders clone, etc.). I also found the game could be quite picky with certain objects' click detection boxes; there were quite a few occurrences of me figuring out how to solve something but then being unable to actually solve it because I didn't realise I was clicking a few pixels away from where I needed to. But overall, it's a solid experience throughout; while the aesthetics are what sell this one, there's nothing too awkward or annoying in the gameplay to detract from it.

So... why have I given a relatively low score then? Well, I played this on Steam in 2023 and it barely runs at all. I am not an FPS snob at all, I couldn't care less as long as I can tell what's going on, but the whole game ran on my PC at something between 1/2 to 2/3 speed. At one point towards the end I ended up googling the answer to one of the more esoteric puzzles, and seeing how fast Josef is supposed to walk was shocking. I did a fair bit of reading up about this and it seems to be some kind of issue with modern graphics cards (it seems to be a common problem with the Steam version, but only in the last few years), and I hate to demote a game for something like that, but it honestly becomes near unplayable at times. Once the world opens up and a lot of the puzzles involve backtracking to previous areas, I could feel the seconds of my life draining away as I watched Josef waddle across the map at 10FPS for what felt like minutes at a time. It's such a shame, because Machinarium is a sweet and charming little adventure that I wanted to get invested in, but so much of it ended up feeling like a chore because of the slowdown. But I have to rate the game I played, and the Steam version of Machinarium is absolute ass on this technical level.

a good game with amazing artwork and a great story. the puzzles are kinda meh, but it's forgivable.

Pretty cool but has at least one prominent slide puzzle so how good could it possibly be actually.
