This is an idle game that is more focused on narrative versus gameplay mechanics. It's incredibly simple, and yes — it's also short. However, why do we equate time spent with value? This game cost less than an energy drink in my country, and yet it was fun, interesting, and a little thought-provoking. I'd say you should go into this expecting a neat little game that can show you what a good mobile game experience can do, versus expecting a GOTY-worthy masterpiece.
I never thought I'd actually play a clicker game in my entire life, but I'm a sucker for anything space related, so I swallowed by pride and tried out Spaceplan. The game is pretty standard clicker fare. Make the number go bigger so you can buy better equipment so you can make the number go bigger faster. By clicking a button you generate energy (referred to as Watts, a unit of power, with an optional toggle to correctly display them as Joules. It slightly annoys me that's not correct by default) which you can use to build devices to generate more energy per click, or to generate automatically. You and your trusty spaceship AI are in orbit of a mysterious planet and by generating energy to send out probes and scans you attempt to figure out where you are and how to get home. The humor is very Portal (down to the inclusion of potatoes) but it works rather well. There are some minor twists in the plot, so I won't reveal too much, but for a game that could have had nothing at all, I was pleased with the events and dialogue. The UI is also very aesthetically pleasing. You mostly view a minimalist depiction of the planet, your spaceship, and any potato-based items you send into orbit or the surface. Good use of shading and subtle effects make it much more pleasing than a mostly empty screen could've been. My one criticism is that there are some gaps in rewards where it's unclear what you're working towards, or that the next reward is a much larger wait than previously. It's a fairly minor complaint, especially since the game still generates energy for a time after you quit, but it's worth mentioning. The very nature of the game means that it's not going to go on my favorites list, but I did rather enjoy my time with it overall, even if it is on the shorter side (especially for this genre).
An experimental clicker/idle game that sadly goes nowhere. The clicker elements are poorly balanced and the only way to progress was going offline for hours, since active play is boring and ineffective. The story is not bad, just not very engaging or interesting and the ending simply exists.
The highlight is the music and the presentation. Banger soundtrack and sound design, but sadly it is not enough to compensate for the game's shortcomings.

A silly little clicker game that actually has an end. The whole thing is just so stupid it's quite funny. Play the free webgame on a browser if you want to know what the humor is like because it's is essentially twice the length of that and takes the same brand of humor up a couple of notches. It also has nice visuals and a pretty bangin' soundtrack (if weird trippy 80s themed electronica is your thing). Try it on for size; it's cheap enough
Now, let me preface this by saying that if you don't really 'get' clickers then you might have issues with this. This one's a good one, though, and one with an actual story/ending, a few laughs and some good audio. On a side note, what is it with low interaction games and great music? Magic Potion Explorers springs to mind, with its Yuzo Koshiro-style trance tunes. The Steam store description calls it 'an experimental piece of interaction' which is a bit wanky but don't hold that against it too much. I enjoyed the prototype on the web and £2 is probably about right for something which I largely let click itself away in an afternoon.
