balance was kinda garbage but otherwise fun times

try drawing with a wiimote (i should give the ds one a try i guess)

In retrospect it probably isn't that bad, but when I first played it, having bought it myself at a Toys R Us, it was the most disappointed I'd ever been with a video game up to that point.

It's a mediocre platformer that interrupts itself to have you draw the graphics for it. Unless you spend a ridiculous amount of time perfecting details, the things you draw always look ugly and out of place compared to the (honestly pretty appealing) non-user-made characters and environments, so I never found drawing to be satisfying. When the game isn't interrupting the action with drawing, it's having you read through a mountain of text that would be more appropriate in an RPG. None of these elements are necessarily bad on their own (from what I've heard the story in these games isn't half bad), but it feels like much, much less than the sum of its parts.

Drawing your own things and having them show up in the game is really neat but the gameplay itself isn't anything to write home about.

Improvable level design but the whole "draw your hero and some ingame elements" mechanic was, and still is, pretty rad. Also this game and its sequel had no right having the story it had. You know what I'm talking about.

baby game but I get to play as super mario smoking weed

A bit too overly simplistic for my tastes but this was a fun little time waster. Besides the drawing mechanic (which even then is limited) the side-scrolling platforming leaves a lot to be desired. The cute characters and sprite-work help make up for a lot of it though.

The idea behind a game like this is much better and more developed than the game itself could ever be.

The concept was amazing and so were the characters, but it was so repetitive. Still, it made me feel so good to see things I made in different levels.

A creatibve game in the sense that you need to be creative to make it into a game because you are drawing a lot of the elements. Its fun and engaging story.

Pretty fun and I loved it as a kid. Nowadays it doesn't hold up quite as well.

A fine enough platformer, the drawing concept could've been explored better and the story is flat but could be worth a remake/reboot

a very slow 5/10 platformer but you could draw stuff and the art was cute

Haha what a silly little fun game I'm sure it won't make me cry

This game looks gorgeous with its spritework, not to mention it's a really fun and creative game.

I remember the story was so good but I haven't been able to take the gameplay when trying to revisit it lol

It was a great idea to let players add their own art to a game. It's too bad that your character looks very out of place and that the game is about as bare-bones a platformer as it can be. I did always find it amusing that your character is basically stated to be an otherworldly spawn of God, though. Helps to justify the disparate art styles.

very nostalgic. probably what got me into character design
