pikuniku is an adorable little game and it was a well spent 3 hours.
the game's art style is very neat and simplistic which really fits in with the overall feel of the game itself, and the soundtrack is very good, even if most of the songs have the same sequence in them.
The game has 2 different modes, a singleplayer campaign and a co-op adventure. the co-op is local only which is kinda upsetting if you dont have anyone around to play with you. i've never played the co-op mode because of this, but from what i've seen, it doesn't look all that special when compared to the main campaign.
the singleplayer campaign is the best part of the game. according to the game's website and the steam page, the point of the game is to "Help peculiar characters overcome struggles, uncover a deep state conspiracy, and start a fun little revolution in this delightful dystopian adventure!" and that's no hyperbole. the game starts with a man by the name of "Mr Sunshine" who wont shut the hell up about free money, but this money man has ulterior motives. around each main area, you see giant robots destroying the property by sucking up corn, cutting down trees, and draining water. after you defeat these robots, you are taken to Mr Sunshine's lab where it's revealed that he wants to build a "perfect city"
let's point out the elephant in the room. there's likely some anti-capitalist undertone to the game's plot. i may be looking into the funny vector game too much but that's just how i see it.
the collectibles and achievements in the game are very nice and they make you want to do all the sidequests and try to go for 100%. these trophies and hats and achievements are completely optional but they're still cool to have.
this game is very funny and it managed to get a laugh out of me alot. even the stupid jokes like the guy telling you about how you should do the dishes after you eat, or the mixtape microgame (which unlocks the flower hat btw).
i highly recommend this game, along with the collectors edition DLC which includes the soundtrack for the game and a cool little comic
in conclusion
