When I think of the Steamdeck, a game like Nobody Saves the World should always come to mind. This is an absolute gem of a 15hr dungeon crawler/action RPG that doesn't take itself serious, both in its story and its gameplay.

It's great that we have complex ARPG titles like Path of Exile, but it's also heart warming that we have easy to understand systems like the ones found in NStW. No armor, no items, no weapons. Just skills and talents. EXP? Get it through questing and using your skills and talents in certain ways! Such a simple idea, but the execution is perfection.

I'd put this on a must play list for fans of the genre, or anyone looking for their next pickup and go game on the device of their choice.

So after about 30 hours i finished it. I was close to giving up a couple times, but there was something about this game that always pulled me back. I loved the big bright colourful graphics, the animations, the different forms and their different attacks and perks. You can tell they really put a lot of effort into making a balanced game where you can get a lot out of every character if you put the time into it. The world map and all the different dungeons got a little grindy but still enjoyable enough to keep me playing. Oh shit, and the music! So fucking good dude. I had some of these tunes in my head for days.

I haven't got this addicted to a rogue-like since Hades, and that's a super high compliment.

Nobody Saves The World conseguiu me arrancar diversas gargalhadas, e vou deixar claro, o humor não é o principal desse jogo.
Quer fazer a história principal e tchau? Vai lá, dá pra fazer também.
Poucos jogos me fazem rir.

Hopped into this one to give it a shot for a few minutes in between other games to see what it was like. And then hours flew by in the blink of an eye, I was leveling up and I realized I was hooked line and sinker. Other than like a half hour of Diablo 3 splitscreen co-op play on the Switch, I've never played a Diablo or any other similar action RPG - despite my partner putting several hundred hours into Diablo 2 I would watch her play and go, eh I don't really think it's for me. But Nobody Saves The World made me see the appeal big time, holy shit.

The best part of this was that the "grinding" to level up, was just a ton of playing around with every player form and trying out all of their attacks and mixing their unique powers with other forms' attacks to make these wacky builds. Going into dungeons and wrecking shit, it didn't feel tedious until the very end of ranking every form to the max level, and even then I wasn't bored. I got every guy to S rank and still wanted more.

The world building, stupid little freaks and characters everywhere with their silly lines and quests, so much funny and cute stuff - and then there's some really gross and nasty cartoon-ish horror effects for some enemies, and especially the main villain; that final guy was nuts and I loved the design. I loved the Skyrim-like factions you join, and all of the regions and villages with their own flair and feel - reminded me of Paper Mario a bit.

What a sleek little title, super easy to navigate UI and menus, the addictive pop of leveling up and completing quests, the combat is just horde smashing fun (along with a tiny bit of a planning required for dungeons/enemies having different criteria for completing/defeating).

I got every trophy except the one for completing new game plus, otherwise I'd have the Platinum. I just got other games I wanna play instead, but I can def see myself going back someday and doing another run through the story. I also beat the final boss at level 69 - hell yeah. Great great great little game!

Nice as Bun-B when I met him at the Source awards
Girl he had with him - ass coulda won the horse awards

This game is currently in the Humble Choice for December 2023, and this is part of my coverage of the bundle. If you are interested in the game and it's before January 2nd, 2023, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle.

Achievement hunting the game.

You know what’s better than Achievements, lots of them, and in quest form, with multiple different characters, and abilities that you’ll have to use to complete the quests. You then tie the completion of those achievements into progression in the game, so players are constantly pushed to beat more of the game’s meta quests. And while this sounds like a sick fantasy of people who care about achievements too much (which I do)... it’s also how Nobody Saves the World works.

Players will change their form to use different abilities and constantly switch what attacks they’re using so they can beat these mini-quests. In addition, the game has an interesting and often funny story. There’s a lot to do in the game, taking about 20 hours for me to beat and I was having a great time throughout.

Still, this is very meta quest and achievement style gameplay, so players who want to focus on the large epic journey and get annoyed by achievements in games should steer clear, that’s most of what the game does. The art style is a take-or-leave-it number, and while I like it, it took me a while to get comfortable with those empty eyes.

Pick this up if, I keep saying it, but if you like metagaming. This was an engaging title, and I even picked it up myself because I wanted to play the whole thing after seeing it on Game Pass, but I’m also thrilled more people will get the chance to check this out.

Fun to play and the writing is goofy. The constant form changes and mix-n-matching abilities between them are a blast. How all these move sets and passives work together is a testament to the excellent game design. Just the right depth and consistently engaging. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the art style, but that’s mere indifference.

This is a phenomenal experience, especially in couch coop. I bought it for 11 euros including the DLC and it‘s worth every cent.

- great design
- nice gameplay
- motivating
- cool music
- funny characters

It feels like a mixture of an old 2D-Zelda game and Super Mario Odyssey with all the different transformations.
I highly recommend this game if you can play it with a friend! ❤️

## Edit after beating NG+ and 100% ##
Well, I sort of got addicted. I love this game! The deeper you dive, the better it gets. Building whacky builts or just crushing through a dungeon with zombie familiars etc. is so fun to do.
This COULD be my GOTY already! ♥

hidden gem of a game this was an absolute blast to play with my friend and I highly recommend it. we would get lost while playing this game as well.

Had a lot of fun with this. A classic 2D adventure similar to 2D Zelda games but with the fun twist of changing into various forms with different abilities. A bit grindy to get everything done, but as someone who likes that sort of thing they managed to hit a good balance.

It's not without it's flaws - the story wasn't anything special, and definitely the weakest element, and most of the time the game was too easy. There are also some crazy choices, like preventing quest progression in story dungeons, that really got in the way of me enjoying it at times. But I think the core gameplay loop, unlocking forms and experimenting with them to then unlock even more, was fun enough to keep me enjoying it throughout my entire playthrough.

Me divertir jogando e recomendo.

nice and simple but can definitely be repetitive at times. was fun getting plat

Perfect little game.

Just smiling through the credits right now.

A fun dungeon crawler with a shapeshifting gimmick. Core of the game is to mix and match forms to make builds that would best suit the dungeon you're tackling. Lots of potential to be one of the greats however it falls short by starting to feel repetitive around the halfway mark due to the fact that dungeons are combat focused only. Would have greatly benefited by adding puzzles or something to spruce up the dungeons from just being room after room of combat.

I had a blast playing this coop. The gameplay loop is really addictive, the whole thing of leveling up each form and unlocking new spells and perks is insanely fun. Trying different builds with each form and building some insanely broken stuff was the highlight for me.

I really liked the long-form player progression system. The way the quests tie seamlessly with the player abilities encouraged me to try new things constantly. I got more out of the story and environment then I was expecting. Overall would definitely recommend as it's the sum of its many good parts.

This game is the embodiment of dopamine. It starts slow, but the rate at which you acquire new forms with unique abilities and passives during moment-to-moment gameplay is insane. The final key ingredient is that you unlock the mechanic to combine any non-signature abilities and passives to any form early on, and that's when the game truly became amazing for me.

As you might assume, the difficult balance must be broken as hell, and that is where I'm gonna surprise you by saying no. The dungeons in this game present modifiers that push you to craft optimal builds for your forms, despite the numerous options available. This becomes especially important in the new game plus mode, where unique dungeon modifiers present additional challenges. This game's difficulty is impressively well-tuned for how easily it could've broken in half.

The charming visuals and writing that Drinkbox Studios is known for are once again delivered in this game, which I fell in love with when playing Guacamelee for the first time last year. However, I do have one complaint about this game, apart from the slow start. I find it puzzling that your form quests are locked from completing them in the main big dungeons. This decision is something I don't quite understand.

My overall conclusion is that I strongly recommend this game if you are in the mood for a mix of 2D Zelda & Diablo that has carved its own identity that Drinkbox Studios has excellently crafted.

Nobody Saves the World is an ugly cute RPG revolving around transforming into different characters for puzzles and combat.

The gameplay is interesting, with every transformation having different playstyles. Each transformation has its own set of quests you must complete to level them up and unlock more abilities for them. These quests are cool, as not only do they teach you how to play the characters, they encourage you to mix and match abilities with them, letting you experiment with different combat builds.

The dungeons are fine, but they tend to feel the same after a while, even with the different aesthetics and modifications trying to make them unique or challenging.

The story is basic and somewhat predictable, but I think it’s written well enough to not be boring or overbearing. The humor is kinda hit or miss though, as the game’s style of humor isn’t for everyone, and some jokes overstay their welcome a bit.

All in all, a fun game to play in short bursts, or as a quick time killer.

If you're looking for a game to spend a lot of time on, this is definitely an option. The game has its good and bad points that can end up ruining the experience for some.
The fact that the game proposes a kind of improvement for each character, like a rank (and to increase the rank, you have to do specific things with each character), is interesting at first. But I was very disappointed when I realized that I couldn't improve a character to the maximum rank because I had to progress in the story for that (and to improve all the way to the last rank, you have to play a good portion of the game). Besides, doing this with all the characters is very monotonous and repetitive.
The game also kind of "forces" you to increase your main level to finish it, as the last castles are at a very high level and you'll need to spend some time getting stronger.
The NG+ increases the difficulty in a rather unexciting way.
There are no bosses in the game, only enemies that you encounter on the map, albeit giant ones.
The DLC doesn't add anything spectacular, just two characters that you won't use for anything in the game and some extra challenges.
The story is nice, the art style is adorable, the gameplay is repetitive. It's a great game to spend hours playing while listening to a podcast or something similar when you have nothing else to play.

Got this one off Humble Bundle and gave it a shot. It's certainly well made and I can tell there's a lot of content here, just not something I'm into.

hack and slash rpg with an engaging and satisfying progression system.

At first sight, it looks like Zelda III x Monster Boy. But the gameplay is way deeper regarding the countless way to set your skills. Finding the right skill set to finish each dungeon and their different modifiers is quite interesting. Maybe tye game is a bit too generous for its own good.

um dungeoun cralwer muito divertido

Nobody Saves the World is certainly a valuable indie. I played for about 2 hours, and I had a very good first impression. The artistic and graphic style is original and very pleasant, and the music is great. The structure is of a classic old-school RPG but with real-time combat, and the large open map reminiscent of the first 2D Zelda games is filled with procedural dungeons. But the strong point of the title, at least from my first impressions, are certainly the different playable characters, each with their own statistics and abilities.
However, I found the pace of the game rather repetitive in the initial stages: I "only" played two standard dungeons and the first large dungeon, as well as explored the entire first macro-area, and I must say that I find myself quite satisfied. I don't feel the desire to see more, because the procedural structure and the fast but banal gameplay didn't fully convince me, and actually started to bore me.
But it's a title that I recommend: an indie RPG of this type is a good thing that it exists and, who knows, it's likely that someone might really like it a lot.
