An excellent start to the Arkham series. The combat is extremely fun but is noticeably more clunky when compared to later games in the Arkham series in addition to being one of the easiest. I really enjoyed the story and all of the encounter's with the various villains. Sadly, I suffered numerous technical issues during my playtime. I experienced multiple crashes and the framerate took a huge nose dive during one sequence but is mostly stable in every other part of the game. The worst problem I encountered was having to reinstall drivers to get the game to go past the launcher. Despite my technical issues, Arkham Asylum is an excellent game that got me hooked on the rest of the series.

This is an adult Dark Knight story that is well-told, packs some truly fun gameplay elements, has topnotch voice talent, and feels like it's part of Batman canon. If I have to nitpick, I wish the cutscenes looked better as they can distract from the tale and that the AI was a bit more responsive, but those are tiny flaws that shouldn't distract from the big picture.
Rocksteady nailed what Batman is supposed to feel like. Fans, rejoice.

A very good game, even legendary I could say.

This game still rules. I prefer the more focused approach of the asylum compared to the sprawling worlds of City and Knight. The combat system was good enough to become the standard for third person action games and it killed the mediocre licensed game for a long time. Everyone should probably play it. I'm taking a point off because the Harley Quinn design is incredibly rough.

to be honest i only played for Poison Ivy's ass

Batman: Arkham Asylum

A fantastic beginning to a great series. I had the itch to replay these games recently, and this game is just as good as I remember. It's a little rough around the ages, but it still holds up well today, which is especially impressive considering all that's come since.

Hadn't played this game since I was 13 years old on my Xobx 360. Nearly 10 years later, it still hold up (mostly). The atmosphere is thick, the combat is fun, and Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy both give it their all in the VA department. My one main warning about this title is that it can be tough to go back to after experiencing subsequent entries in the series.

Up there as one of, if not, the #1 greatest comic book video game of all time. This was easily my favorite of the Arkham games that I played. Its linearity and focus within the asylum just made it a much tighter experience in comparison to the open-world, city sequels.

This game was flat out incredible, and I'm not sure what I'd rank higher at the moment - this or the Insomniac Spider-Man games. It might just depend on the day and how I am feeling at the time... thinking on it, I probably have to give it to Batman just because it sets the comic book game foundation, especially with its combat system. You can't go wrong with either one though.

I loved the dark atmosphere to this game - it fits the Dark Knight's world perfectly, and truly feels like a Gotham insane asylum. The dialogue is on point (the Joker made me laugh on multiple occasions as I started picking off his goons one after another) and the gameplay/puzzles are addictive and a lot of fun. This proves that Batman truly has the best villains out of any other superhero (Spidey's villains are a close 2nd), and the Joker is the undisputed G.O.A.T.

If you were a fan of the 90's Batman Animated Series, with the excellent voice work of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, you will adore this video game. A must play for any Batman fan.

Felt Like an episode of the Animated Series. Final boss felt like a "had to" thing. Like "it should have been something else but this is the thing we built up". Good game.

good batman game solid 3 stars

This and Arkham knight had been the only games I hadn't played. The game never feels repetitive, and you can get through the game very quickly. I believe I 100% this game in 3 days, but i left my game running overnight a few times. My only complaint with Arkham Asylum is the Final Boss Fight, to me it doesn't feel like a "final" fight, but rather a variation of the titan fights.

Rocksteady clearly put a lot of love into this game. The character bios, tape recordings, and spirit of Arkham chronicles flesh out the story world and show that the developers thought of everything. The atmosphere and vibe of Arkham island is dark and creepy, a feeling that is enhanced by the foreboding score.

Unfortunately, I played these games out of order and despite this being the original game that started the franchise, I played this one last. Arkham City was my first Arkham game and will always have a special place in my heart. There were times playing Asylum where I wished I was playing City. As expected, Asylum's combat is the clunkiest in the series with a lot of punching air and pulling out gadgets when I'm supposed to be blocking an incoming attack. Most villain interactions are great with the exception being Scarecrow, where the camera is no longer over the shoulder and movement becomes weird. This camera angle annoyingly comes back in the final battle which is also pretty lackluster.

Overall, a great game with fun villains, good story, and an awesome setting. I recommend playing this one first.

Play time: 14 hours

Ótimo jogo, envelheceu muito bem, mas acredito que seus sucessores sejam bem superiores, mas não deixe de jogar este jogo, uma aula de como se faz jogos bons de herói.

Batman is one of the Best Charcters in fiction. This is one of the best games ever made. Mark Hamil best Joker. Peak.

Score: 4.6/5
Letter Grade: A+

Great start to a great series. You can certainly see they knew what they did right and what they needed to add to that.

great game and trilogy of all time

After playing the Spider-Man games I couldn't resist going back and playing the Arkham games again. If you saw my Spider-Man review you'll know I spent alot of time talking about what those games could take from the Arkham series to improve them.

Arkham Asylum is the first in this series and while compared to the later games in the series this is extremely basic going back to 2009 when this released it was revolutionary and didn't just set the standard for Super-Hero games but third person action games as genre. Still to this day you will see some sort of variation of this combat system in modern games.

The atmosphere in this game is really unmatched by any of the other games in this series. It really gives you this feeling of being trapped in a prison with some of the biggest psychopaths of this world that is crafted.

The Scarecrow hallucinations don't just give you new interesting areas to traverse they really fuck with you as a player faking out that your system crashed and restarts the game.

Now the Riddler trophies... While I think that they aren't nearly as bad as people say in this game you don't gwt much for doing them. Although, I will say that the audio tapes you can find are super interesting and give you some great context to the villains you run into across the course of the game.

Overall this game is great, While I do think this is rather outdated these days compared to what came after it is still a great game.

The game that started it. Batman Arkham Asylum is a masterpiece in every sense. The thrilling combat, gripping narrative and the atmosphere & ambience truly makes one feel as the Dark Knight. The ability to switch between beat-em-up combat and stealth is second to none. If you're a batman fan, this is a game for you. And if you aren't, this game would turn you into one.

10/10 would bang Poison Ivy :3

Great game! Already a huge Batman fan but this game has great combat, fantastic story writing, and you truly feel like the caped crusader throughout your playthrough. Highly recommend.

It's a great Batman game. Exploring Arkham Asylum was fun and all of Batman's gadgets were neat. The characters are all a joy with some fantastic voice work. The combat is enjoyable, but a bit inconsistent. Sometimes I would press the counterattack button and it felt like a coin flip to see if the game would pick it up. Enemy detection varied widely, especially during the stealth sections. The game was also annoying when deciding if I meant sprint, dodge, or jump since they share the same button. Let's just say it almost always picked the wrong option. Batman: Arkham Asylum is still a fun game, despite its flaws.
