The first mainline 3d Kirby game! As usual with Kirby games, the level design is creative, the game is fun to play, and it has ton of objectives for 100%

The mouthful abilities are basically just more powerful, situational, copy abilities. It opens the level design for unique challenges and hidden secrets and I think overall they are fun, it is also exciting the way you upgrade copy abilities in this game so you always feel stronger than before.

I think this is an amazing game with one flaw: The amount of times you have to replay stages for 100% can be tiring. While you are never required to replay, each mission has hidden objectives you have to complete in order to100% it, a lot of these are just rewarding exploration and finding hidden areas... but a lot are also arbitrary and the game doesn't tell you them until you have completed the stage at least once. For example, one stage has a mini-boss that in order to unlock the hidden requirement you have to freeze... however before the boss the game gives you the option to either use freeze or another ability and no indication you are expected to use freeze. This means even if you explored the stage perfectly you will still need to replay! Hidden requirements happen often enough that it feels a bit like a slog if you are trying to 100%, but thankfully the game is fun enough that replays are still engaging and fun and you can keep yourself entertained by changing what copy ability you use.

Overall really fun platformer that is a great jump to 3d and I hope future titles can iron out the minor flaws!

Might be the best in the series. This game is stuffed full of charm, fun, cuteness, and good times. In typical Kirby fashion, there's plenty of extra content and unlockables to keep you coming back for more.

sooooo different from other kirby games, i fucking love the way it looks and the story

Kirby and the Forgotten Bland haha but seriously folks this one is pretty good

THIS IS WHAT KIRBY FANS WANT!!!! I loved this game, it was SUPER fun, and each level was enjoyable! I hope they keep using the 3D kirby formula as it turned out to be a hit rather than a miss. If you enjoyed Mario 3D World, you'll more than likely enjoy this.

Incredible. My favorite kirby game of all time. it's gorgeous, it's incredibly charming, it controls like butter, it's got a decent amount of challenge, and it's just fun :^)

Pleasantly surprised by how good this is because I thought the demo was just alright

Perhaps it's a little too easy, but this is still one of the best games Nintendo has ever released, overflowing with charm at any given moment.
...gee, didn't I say the same thing about Pikmin 3?

3d kirby is the future of gaming

Amazing entry in the series. Looks and sounds amazing, and though they played it safe, Kirby's transition to 3D was nearly flawless.

when i was a kid my favorite thing in the world was kirby. i was obsessed with kirby. i played all the games i could get my hands on, i watched the cartoon (whatever episodes were on my cable’s on demand service, which wasn’t as much as i liked), the movie showed up in the red box at the grocery store once. i didn’t even know there WAS a kirby movie. i begged to rent it and getting to see it, i was definitely not disappointed. when water kirby showed up i took a picture of the screen with my hand-me-down flip phone and made it my wallpaper.
when i eventually get unfettered internet access in my early teens i research kirby and i find out about an unreleased kirby gamecube game. 3d movement, full multiplayer, THEY EVEN HAVE WATER KIRBY! FROM THE MOVIE! this game seems like it’ll be THE videogame. my imagination ran wild. what else could this perfect kirby game have? it’s gotta have the power combinations from 64, the animal buddies from dreamland 2 and 3, gotta have playable metaknight and dedede too. of course, by the time i had found out about this, the game cube was long dead. any hope of this game existing was gone before i could even hope for it. i could imagine though.
eventually came kirby return to dreamland. i felt the pull in my heart. this was it, right? it’s a kirby game with full multiplayer, dedede and metaknight are playable characters! WATER KIRBY IS EVEN IN IT! but it’s not quite right. no 3d movement, no power combos, it couldn’t beat that game i imagined as a child even if it came close.
more kirby games came and went. nothing that really amazed me if i’m honest. lots of little side games i tried and got bored of. triple deluxe was underwhelming. i was too broke to try robobot (until much more recently when i played and loved it) or star allies. i don’t know if i could even be considered a kirby fan at that point. it was something so defining to me as a child and now it felt like a stranger. then, kirby and the forgotten world was announced. a 3d kirby game. with customizable powers (not quite crystal shards but still). and multiplayer.
ok, thanks for reading this far. now i get to the actual review. i’m not just reviewing this game as it is or as how much i enjoyed it. i’m reviewing it as the game i dreamed of when i saw those low quality screenshots of that unreleased game cube game. this is unfair to the game. but i wouldn't do it if it didn’t come so heart-wrenchingly close.
it plays like i always dreamt it would. kirby’s move set feels so adapted to a 2d platformer, but with the level design it fits seamlessly. the ability customization is straight up better than crystal shards. maybe not with as much variety, but the thought and design put into every variation more than makes up for the quantity. the multiplayer is fine. i wish it had online, but the game i imagined didn’t so i can’t fault it. the story is the thing i never would’ve cared about in my dream game, but i know if i could’ve imagined it i would’ve wanted it so bad. i was insufferable about kirby lore then and this would’ve had me pacing and rambling to nobody for hours. i loved this game. this is almost certainly as close as any game will ever get to reaching into my imagination and pulling something out and i am truly grateful i got to experience it. it’s the reason i 100%ed it within a week of getting it. but no water kirby. 4 1/2 stars.

Fairly decent Kirby adventure.

I honestly can't really think of anything that particularly sticks out to me being wrong with it, but I also can't think of anything that stands out.

If you were given the choice between playing it and not, I would choose playing it.

Pretty fun so far! I forgot why I stopped playing it for a while. Should go back and finish soon

While I don't love this one as much as Return to Dreamland, Triple Deluxe, or Planet Robobot, I still think that this game is an amazing step into 3D for the franchise.

The copy abilities feel great to use, the bosses are a lot of fun to fight with the newly implemented dodge roll mechanic, the world that you explore this time around has an element of disturbance that I really appreciate, and the game overall just feels good to play.

There isn't really much to complain about with this one. I just loved playing through the game and completing it felt worthwhile.

I should probably start this review by saying that I co-oped this with my sister, and her favorite video game character is Kirby, so she played as him. I was Bandana Waddle Dee.

Anyway, it was a fun, decent game in my opinion! I don’t see what all the hype is about, yet I wish I did, and I have not dismissed the idea that the game may be a lot better as Kirby. I really wish more had been put into the co-op aspect of this game, like it was with Epic Yarn. Bandana Waddle Dee is very lackluster and barely packs a punch. The warping gimmick is a bit annoying, especially when it does this during boss fights. Overall, these areas of the co-op experience could really have been fleshed out.

The story was fun, and actually pretty dark for Kirby! I enjoyed it. I didn’t love all of the levels or the fact that they demand replay to get all achievements. Most of them were one and done for me. The copy abilities were cool, and I imagine playing as Kirby is fun. However, the game does not really tempt me to replay it as Kirby, since most of it was just okay for me. The post game was okay too, but didn’t really add much to the base game.

Overall, it was a good experience, and definitely better than Star Allies. I won’t be playing it again, but I am still glad I did once.

ended up having a library of switch games passed over to me recently so i'm gonna be diving into those over the next few months, hopefully.

overwhelmingly cute and charming but the padding/repetition keeps it from being a truly special experience for me. both the bosses and levels themselves are almost universally solid but by time you repeat so much of it all (especially in the post-game) it starts to sour a bit.

as my first attempt with a Kirby title other than a brief dip into Kirby's Pinball Land earlier this year and an even smaller one for Epic Yarn back on the Wii, i liked this a lot. looking forward to dipping into some of the other titles as i'm kinda expecting more from some of those. a good start.

Peak Kirby. Only issue I had was with some of the level designs but that's more so an issue with this being the first truly 3D main line kirby game.

I 100% THIS GAME AND IT WAS VERY FRUSTRATING BUT I DID IT I GOT EVERY GATCHA FIGURE I BEAT ALL THE ARENA CUPS I FUCKIMG DID IT I AM THE KIRBY CHAMPION

If this game was so good, I wonder how good the next game will be when the take it to the next level and go full 3d sandbox collectathon like Mario Odyssey. This was the first Kirby game that I 100%, that could be b/c it was relatively short, but there was still a lot of meat on the bone. I'm very excited for the next game, Kirby is back!

has very fun abilities but heavily reduced by its level of easyness

This is I think the only game I've ever accidentally spoiled the ending of and every time I look at it I remember doing that and feel terrible. At least it's great?

Good game but the multiplayer is extremely barebones.

The best Kirby game to date, it's frankly shocking just how smoothly so many classic Kirby conventions have carried over to 3D and in most cases improved in the process.

Yeah this slingshotted up to my top fave kirby game. Im impressed how natural it all felt having a proper 3d kirby.

Just a really enjoyable ride all around. Had a hard time putting the controller down bc i just wanted to keep going!

The levels, music, the power ups just kick alot of ass. I love the sideactivities you can fo as well.

If i had any minor complaints itd be the lack of a Try Again button for main stages. Esp if you screwed up a side mission and need to start over (felt odd also how treasure stages had one but not this...? Oh well)

But yeah. Just a really really good game that i would rec with all my heart. Think its the first kirby game i 100% bc i didnt want things to end haha

Uh i lost my switch lol but the game was good

It really turned Resident Evil there at the end.

plataforma incrível, bem facil, mas eu amei cada segundo com ele. Meu primeiro jogo de kirby!
