My first SMT game, and it's made me a fan. Press Turn may be my favorite combat system ever, and I cannot wait, both to try more SMT games and to play DDS2.

It's fine? As 2D Mario goes, it was enjoyable. A bit on the short side, but definitely enjoyable.

God, this isn't a good game, but I'm reluctant to call it "bad," either. It's a very flawed masterpiece. I love the series, but this game is just so...not great.

Having finished all four routes:

If you're only going to play one route, play Verdant Wind. If you're going to play two, play Verdant Wind and Crimson Flower. If you're going to play three, add in Azure Moon. Silver Snow is entirely redundant.

Azure Moon is the most "Fire Emblem" of the routes. It's got a deposed prince fighting an evil empire. About the only thing it's missing is a dragon as the final boss. It's also a fairly unsatisfying story -- Dimitri's character growth is handled poorly, and the actual villains of the story are just kind of forgotten about after part one.

Crimson Flower is a very flawed route. You can tell it's unfinished -- it lacks the animated cutscenes the other routes get, it's four chapters shorter than the other routes, and it just sort of ends with no resolution (other than an epilogue panel promising the real villains will be dealt with in the future). That being said, it's an interesting chance to play as the villains, even if it's not necessarily the best execution of that concept.

Verdant Wind is hands down the best route. You get actual backstory on the world and the major conflict, you get to actually finish both major conflicts in the same route, and the ending chapter isn't a stupid, out of nowhere "twist."

Silver Snow is Verdant Wind but missing a chapter, no real "lord" character, and a stupid final boss. Only play this if you're a completionist.

As a final note, Byleth's lack of voice lines is really awkward in some points, mostly the romance bits at the end. I sort of get why they made this choice, but it's a bizarre one, and it really hurts Byleth as a character and as a story vehicle.

Shadows of Rose is fantastic. Absolutely loved it. Even going back to House Beneviento was great.

After Highway Blossoms, I expected a kind of light, fluffy yuri story. This was not that at all, and I loved it for that. The story went in ways I didn't see coming, and I loved every minute of it.

Plus Kira Buckland's in it, which is cool as hell.

Loved it. Loved that it was more tragedy, loved how it looks and feels to play, and loved that it goes out of it's way to explain why Mickey is in just his shorts at the end of the first game. Also, you can put Aqua in cat ears. Fantastic game.

It's kind of amazing that Kingdom Hearts as a franchise can go from Birth By Sleep to this. I also didn't expect a KH game that was worse than Chain of Memories, and yet here we are. The spirits are a singularly annoying mechanic, and I couldn't stand it. The story seemed interesting, but at this point I just plan to watch the cutscenes on YouTube and call it a day.

Meh. Didn't grab me like Until Dawn, wasn't really a fan. Didn't like it nearly enough to finish it.

Decided to play through all the Castlevania games in chronological order, skipping the PS2 ones because they're exceptionally terrible. So I started here. As it turns out, I'm really not good at the "Classicvania" style games. All the ones I've played and loved were the more "IGAvania/Metroidvania" style ones. This is a decent game for an NES platformer, but it's got really stiff controls and rather obnoxious level design.

It's fine, I guess? I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I like it more than Mario Bros. 2 (which I know wasn't really Mario) and less than Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario World. Overall kinda meh, but not actually bad.

I really liked this one. It was cute and gay, and hit all the right notes for me.

Didn't really grab me, and not helped by the fact that the controls are all keyboard based and thus I can't actually see what they are on the Steam Deck. Might try it again on my PC sometime, but unsure.

Need concept, but I found the execution lacking. Ignoring that it was only engaging for about an hour or so, the margin for error on some puzzles was infuriatingly small.

Easily my favorite Pokémon game in years. Since Platinum, probably. Just an all around great game, and a breath of fresh air for the franchise. Hope they keep up with this style of game.
