So now that im done with everything I'll use this for my thoughts on optional content and gameplay.
I mainly played tank so I have nothing to say on the dps or healers. DRK was the one I played most and I do love ogcd spam and weaving. but honestly playing tanks feels similar to each other than its kind of eeeehhh.
Optional content wise, the raids are so fun. Alexander was a really good start, then i did stormblood and shb raids and they just got better and better. its really fun juggling mechanics and the goals of a job.
also i like crafting.

I think this is an improvement over a realm reborn due to its simple premise and feeling more like an adventure.
But it still doesn't feel like the characters have that much character interaction. There needed to be more interactions where the characters aren't just talking about the problems going on or how to fix them. There should be more scenes like the campfire scene between Ysayle and Epstinien where characters get to feel like actual characters rather than just "we know what to do actually and if we don't know what to do we just introduce another character that conveniently knows what to do"
(I love the dark knight quest tho)

I would have gone insane playing this on original hardware. (probably would have looked better on a crt tho)
A personal preference of mine is that I dont like turn based games so i'll just not comment on the combat.
I will say I do enjoy the story a lot but find it funny how it's basically there to set up what was going to be a 6 game franchise, and what is there from character writing is really good.
The lack of music did drive me insane when exploring, and having the same battle theme for the entirety of it sucked, but every new track in cutscenes was a treat.
