Theres so many good elements about this game, but man does it have huge issues, and if you didnt grow up with it, its hard to look past. I adore the vibes of this game, and i think flood was a fun mechanic, but the level design is atrocious at times, and 100% is a nightmare. Wish I could love this game more than I do.

This has to be my favorite 2D platformer of all time, and that’s coming from a huge Mario nerd. It has brilliant level design, using only a few main mechanics and just building and building on them. The movement feels fantastic, and I love that certain tech was implemented into the game. I also love just how difficult this game is, while still having great accessibility options. Beating the game is a challenge, but definitely possible, and if you can’t do that there’s the assist mode, which to me is the best an accessibility option has ever been handled in a video game so far. And if you want more challenge than the base game has to offer, then there’s the b and c sides. I’m not one for 100% games, but Celeste was just that damn good. It was one of the most satisfying experiences I’ve had in gaming when I finished farewell. The story is also great, and while it’s not the main reason I love this game, it’s great, dealing with anxiety and struggle. I really love Madeline struggling in a very similar way that the player does. My final thing Id like to mention is that the soundtrack slaps.

Designed well to be a fun arcade game and its got a lot of charm.

No reason to come back to this one with later titles but judging it on its own merits its a pretty good time. It's definitley boosted by it's charm.

Toby Fox is getting real good at makng games.

One of the best snes era games. Fast paced and very fun. Quite the challenge also.

incredible and ahead of its time. The gameplay feels so satisfying, the gameplay loop is just fun. At the heart its a strategy game, and its fun to learn the patterns of all the fighters, until you eventually beat them. Also, its crazy how much personality and charm this game has for an NES game. Each character is incredibly designed. You could take this game, update the graphics, and put it out on a modern day console. Oh wait, they did that on the wii.

Very solid arcade classic. Fun to practice and get good at.

Classic fighting game that still holds up.

This is such a beauty of a little game. The tiny interactions in the world are so cute and make it feel lived in, while also making you want explore every last inch. It feels so satisfying to finally reach the peak, even if it only took an hour. This is a very short game. But its worth the expireince you get from it.

I dont care what others say. This holds up. So creative, and the movement is just brilliant. Was the best mario game till odyssey.

Now that ultimate exists, there really isnt much reason to come back to this one, but at the time, it was fantastic. It's weird how netural I am to this game now, but at the time it was a blast.

Very fun, when something like this is made into a full fledged game it will be brilliant. This style + Odysseys movement would be an incredible game.

Certainly a major step up. I think the big thing is just the gameplay. It's faster, and it feels like it was made to make awesome matches with your friends. As for the new things they added, there's some major flaws. Gm mode is somewhat fun but it's not the gm mode of old, and it's not something I see myself spending a lot of time with. Universe mode is sadly untouched, which is weird considering it's the mode that many people play the most. Showcase is kinda cool, but at points you just want to get to the gameplay. The best part is all the attires and arenas you get. One mode I wasn't expecting to be great was myrise, the story mode of this game. We finally have more choices, it's not a linear path which is awesome. Story mode is usually something I only play once, but I see myself coming back to this. This game has a ton of flaws that I just don't understand, but the core of this game is good, and that's ultimately what you want. If they build on this and fix the minor flaws, 2K23 could be one of the great wrestling games.
