very complicated thoughts on this one. fun as shit but also doesn’t have so many staples i love from metal gear. a great game but a very poor metal gear game

i almost never platinum games and i did everything in this game. it leans into a very specific type of whimsical mystique that games in the 90s were filled with and you just don’t see as much anymore. i also hate kingdom hearts combat and i was so sure this would be more of that but it’s so much more intelligent and well-designed than that and made me finally believe that action-rpg combat could actually work for me.

never clicked with me as much as others even if i know that it’s one of the most influential games ever. i think i’m not that big of a mario fan outside of galaxy

galaxy is better but it’s still a fun time
