Freakishly similar situation to the modern God of War games. First game is a tight knit story and package that doesn’t take full advantage of its system with a lack of compelling bosses, while this is flipped in the sequel. I personally didn’t love either of these games, but the first one tells a great story

This game is far from perfect, I sometimes feel strange eating it so highly considering some of the more blatant filler, some of the more obnoxious captures, and lackluster Dark/Darker Side.
That being said, nothing in gaming is as fun as moving as this Mario, and I’ll always hold it near the top of my all time game list for that

The best From games are astonishingly close on my all time list, and while I personally prefer DS1/DS3, Bloodborne along with Elden Ring stand out as the most refined. It’s most notably held back by the framerate, which is a shame, as this game is a 10/10 in atmosphere, combat, and weapons. The bosses mostly average out to be great, but the game is quite short and the healing system is it’s biggest non-framerate flaw
