Freakishly similar situation to the modern God of War games. First game is a tight knit story and package that doesn’t take full advantage of its system with a lack of compelling bosses, while this is flipped in the sequel. I personally didn’t love either of these games, but the first one tells a great story

9.5

This game is far from perfect, I sometimes feel strange eating it so highly considering some of the more blatant filler, some of the more obnoxious captures, and lackluster Dark/Darker Side.

That being said, nothing in gaming is as fun as moving as this Mario, and I’ll always hold it near the top of my all time game list for that

9.6

The best From games are astonishingly close on my all time list, and while I personally prefer DS1/DS3, Bloodborne along with Elden Ring stand out as the most refined. It’s most notably held back by the framerate, which is a shame, as this game is a 10/10 in atmosphere, combat, and weapons. The bosses mostly average out to be great, but the game is quite short and the healing system is it’s biggest non-framerate flaw

9.2

A game with some of the highest highs and lowest lows. The Atreus sections are miserable, and the story leaves much to be desired, especially compared to its predecessor. That said, Ragnarok does what 4 did not and capitalized on its combat system with probably 3-4X the amount of engaging combat encounters, and for that I will always return to this game.

9.2
A beautiful game with some of the greatest story moments ever. While I love both this and Ragnarok, they are both held back my fatal flaws that take away from both. My favorite parts of these games is the combat system, arguably my favorite in any game, and GoW4 just has such a lack of compelling encounters pushing this system to the max, with Sigrun as the exception. It’s for this reason I can’t help but prefer Ragnarok

7.9

Underwhelming, but a good time

The Greatest Game I Have Ever Played

2020

9.8

A game I can never foresee leaving my Top 5. It executes everything it wants too perfectly, and I’m unable to come up with a single real flaw after 300 hours. There are more impressive games that exist, but this hits all the right notes for me.

9.6

While not perfect, the first time with this game is one of the most beautiful experiences

9.2

A fantastic game in its own right, but felt underwhelming throughout. Ultimately felt like too much of a tiring retread of the same 130 hour game, the Depths are incredibly empty, and the building based shrines felt far less focused than BoTW. Contrary to most, the Sky Islands were my favorite part of the game
