It's a party... A WADDLE DEE PARTY!

You probably aren't aware of this, but I'm pretty fond of Waddle Dees... I realize this may be a bit of a shock to everyone, as I have never shown any inclination me liking the- Ok I'll stop the dumb bit now.

I start this list joking but, truth be told, I actually haven't shown much appreciation towards my favorite common enemy in any videogame series over her in... well, never, actually... THIS SACRILEGE CANNOT BE ACCEPTED!

At first I was gonna make a list that included every game in which any kind of Waddle Dee made an appearance, but then I realize it was turning into more of a compilation of every Kirby game under the sun, so I tried a new perspective... what about putting together in which is better to be player 2, or in other words the games where you can PLAY as a Waddle Dee!

That does come with some caveats however, what the games count and call ''Waddle Dees'' perse and playable in practically none of the games, so by all intents and purposes, I'll count each game that lets you play as Bandana Waddle Dee and Parasol Waddle Dee, since they are very much part of the Dee family and their additions to the name are more of a way to identify them than a clear distinction. I'm also only counting the games where you fully and directly control the Dees, so in other words, no Squeak Squad is allowed in this house, since in that one you control the Waddle Dees through Ghost Kirby, and that kind of mistreatment to the poor round orange fellas is simply unacceptable.

Also, fan games are completely fair game! So if you do know of a fan project in which you can play as these fantastic goofballs, please let me know and I'll add it! For now, I paid respect and I'm redeemed, balance is restored...

Oh and I almost forgot, huge shoutouts to the Kirby Wiki, also known as WiKirby, since its page about Waddle Dees helped me a ton making this, go check it out, it has a ton of effort put into it and it has a ton of extra interesting information, especially if you like Kirby as much as I, and this wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for the people that worked on it!: https://wikirby.com/wiki/Kirby_Wiki

Megaton Punch
This game was part of Kirby's Toy Box Satellaview, and it was pretty much the same game as Megaton Punch in the original Super Star, and as @Angel_Arle pointed out, it's easy to assume that the second player could play as Waddle Dee.

There's no guaranteed confirmation, as this is pretty much lost media, but it seems to be the exact same game, so I think it's fair to say it had the same co-op capabilities.

The one thing I've noticed is that a lot of these games, sadly, don't allow you to play as the bundle of joy single player. A mere #2 to the ""real"" protagonist. The blasphemy of this...

@AlphaOne2 Exactly! When playing Kirby games with friends I always prefer being anything but the second player exactly because of that. But hey, I can forgive them for relegating the precious funny indestructible being to the second slot, 'cause at least he has been playable more times or at least as much in the Kirby series as Dedede and Meta Knight, which honestly is the single most funny and fantastic decision they could ever make xD

Everyone talks shit about star allies but the co-op in that game is so fun.

@moschidae I honestly still want to check it out, it's the only one of the modern 2D Kirby games I haven't played, and even if I don't know of the singleplayer experience will convince me, it does have a ton of content and I'll also try the co-op, so maybe I'll have my fun with... plus you can play as Waddle Dees and Gooey being the first player so it's automatically absolute peak xD

Idk- i didnt really like the overall design of star allies (like the new bosses/characters) but i still thought it was a fun and solid kirby game. Wasnt mad or anything playing it... still not sure why everyone hated it so bad
you might like star allies more but it was definitely the worst Kirby game I played...it was just so bland and forgettable 😭

I'd say its both, it really didn't do anything special and the gimmick on relying on buddies was very meh, and then the game prior, planet robobot...was an easy top 5 Kirby imo and a lot of people loved it so it felt like such a downgrade going from that to star allies
oh its definitely worth a shot, even the worst mainline kirby game is enjoyable somewhat

Not sure if it counts but Bandana Waddle Dee is also playable in Megaton Punch if you do 2 player.

@Angel_Arle I think it absolutely counts! I'll update the Super Star entry to reflect that information, thank you so much!

So while investigating about Megaton Punch, I found out it actuall re-released as a demo as part of the Kirby's Toy Box game on the Satellaview, and it's still lost media to this day. I had no idea about this and it's super interesting to learn and discover, so yeah, thank you so much @Angel_Arle! Maybe it was this standalone release to which you were refering to from the start and I'm just dumb, but whichever the case, this is such a cool piece of the the franchise's history, and I added since even there's not much information about it, it's easy to assume that it was also co-op like the original sub-game.

@moschidae I can't say for sure without testing it for myself, but my best guess is that considering how fantastic all of the three previous game were (especially Robobot) and that Star Allies levels seem a bit less involved and more focused on giving all four possible players space to move and do stuff rather than actually having interesting ideas and layouts, and the combination of those things, plus the fact it actually didn't have much content at launch from what I've seen, it's what made so many people sour on it or why many find it bad... bad again, more reason for me to play it and find out and reach my own conclusions, I am glad to hear that you at least found a bit of enjoyment with it, and that makes me a bit more hopeful for when I get to it in the future. Plus, it's the perfect excuse to play as Bandana Dee, Gooey, Adeline and Marx, and I can't say no to that xD (Also sorry for bothring with this message, just wanted to change some stuff)
