2002

Even if the gameplay is dated as hell now, this is a game with a lot of soul. Just driving through the city while getting to your next objective is a really chill feeling that not many games can capture, and you'll feel as connected to the characters as our good boy Tommy does.

A timeless classic, with one of the best combat systems in JRPGs and a fantastic art style. It's difficult at the start, but when you undersand the Press Turn System it's a joy to play.

Pure kino action. As long as you skip 2 you're gonna have a very good time

A very faithful recreation of the original, with solid gunplay taken straight from Mafia 3 and the same amazing story and characters, whose stories have been expanded on. The only part where I feel it's worse than the original is in Tommy's character.

In the original, he stood out because of his strong morals and a distaste for the mafia life, specially the killing. Although he keeps his aversion to killing (but still lessened) in the remake, he's much more willing to get into the life, to the point of ASKING the Don to get revenge on the thugs who trashed his cab before joining the family. These changes hurt Tommy's character in my opinion, but on the bright side Sarah's character is greatly expanded, which means Tommy's romance with her isn't just a background event anymore.

Beyond that, it's a great labor of love, but I still recommend you play the original as well.

When you create one of the best JRPGs of the generation by winging it in the middle of development

This battle system is so fucking cool dude

A love letter to the fans, it's a short fun trip into Kamurocho in Street of Rage 2's skin. Sure it's just one level, but it's free and it's not really meant to be a full game.

The core greatness of Max Payne is still there, but Rockstar's design philosophy sticks out like a sore thumb. Filled with cutscenes, extremely linear (in a series that was already linear) and with movement that feels much more restrictive this time around to make it look realistic (including having a weapon limit). The story also completely erases Max's development in the last two games so there's a reason for there to be a third game and the story just isn't good enough to justify this, with villains that have no charm or character and no reason to care about anyone else. It's still good, but worse than the first 2.

The game that made Bullet Time in games popular, and for good reason. One of my favorite shooters of all time, the mechanics are absolutely solid and it never stops being fun to blast enemies while managing your bullet time and painkillers. The story's presentation is also unique and the corny acting will keep you hooked as much as the gameplay.

A better remake than Kiwami was thanks to its additions not interfering with story progress. The soundtrack still took a large hit by replacing a lot of the music and cutting another bunch, but the remixes of the remaning ones are at least decent. Added in this remake is the Majima Saga, a short story that explains some background before the main game's events. Its story is alright, but Majima only has his mad dog style and like 3 moves and is not that fun to play as unlike in 0.

All in all it's a solid entry, but the original is much better.

If you liked the first game, this is more of the same with gameplay additions, like the Fate System (which is like a light version of Persona's social links). Whether that makes it better or worse is up to you.

Niko is my favorite GTA protagonist, and the story and characters are just as great as SA's (probably even better), but everything else is just worse.

This is the point where Rockstar tried to go for realism and that means clunky, weighty movement and realistic car handling that feels really slow.

90% of the missions are just "go there and kill people" and there's very little side content, and even less of that is actually fun to do.

The physics are fun as fuck though and it's sad that GTA V nerfed them heavily.

An improvement over the first game on every single level. The combat is massively better, the story is fantastic, the side content starts setting the humorous tone later games would get and the soundtrack is pure eargasm. Absolutely play this before the remake, it's one of the best entries in the series.

The story is absolutely insane and heart wrenching in the best way possible and the main cast is, along with the story, the best in the series. Its only negative point is that the combat is so braindead easy that you don't even need to think.

A very solid expansion. Although it is repetitive like the base game and it may drag on, it has a very interesting story and it sets up a future villain for the series. He ended up sucking, but that's not this expansion's problem.
