Played the living shit out of this game back when I was in high school. Game’s image has changed a lot now but damn was it fun back in the day

Valosmurf

but in all seriousness it’s a pretty ok game, not the worst game but not the best, like what the game tries to accomplish but is held down by the game actively encouraging smurfing. does some things better than cs but for every step forward it takes 2 back.

edit: jesus the more I think about it the more this game grows on me

They fixed everything about OG P5 and made the greatest antagonist in any game.

2.5 stars for the game, which is ok, but 1/10 for how this game exploits children

The first Persona and Megaten game I played. The game's message about facing your inner self resonates with me deeply, but even if I prefer 3 overall, I constantly go back and forth as to which one I prefer. I bought my whole ass Vita for this game because I was some weeb who wanted something to play. May do more of a review in the future.

This review contains spoilers

"The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge, he sealed his fate...
Entrusting his future to the cards, man clings to a dim hope.
Yes, the Arcana is the means by which all is revealed...
Attaining one's dream requires a stern will and unfailing determination."

Wow was the summer (or winter in Australia and New Zealand) of 2015 good. I remember completing P4G on the plane on the flight to Singapore before playing this and thinking "maybe I should look into this series more. I then discovered that the 3rd one was a PS2 exclusive. However, our PS2 that my big brother used was broken, however there was a PSP version, so I decided to homebrew my Vita. I used my laptop (which, in retrospect was just there so I could play League of Legends while I was away from home because at the time I was addicted), spent at least 5 hours trying to homebrew it until I succeeded, and found a ROM for P3P. It took 2 hours to download (mostly due where I was downloading from).

But was it worth it? Hell yeah, it was. The game is one of my favorite stories in any video game, and the best of Neosona. Akihiko Sanada is one of my favorite characters in any video game. And he genuinely made me want to be a professional boxer, until hitting Plat in LoL made me throw that ambition away to become a pro LoL player and one day challenger Faker, so once again, fuck you League of Legends. I trained boxing with my friends and dad every day because of Akihiko. And I can't even begin to express how great the soundtrack is on both FeMC and the male protag's routes.

I remembered I didn't think the game was as good as P4G, but was still reallly enjoying it.

AND THEN OCTOBER 4TH HAPPENED.

I cried. It was the hardest I ever cried playing a video game at the time. I thought I wouldn't cry any harder. I loved Shinjiro. Seeing him die broke me.

and then the ending happened...

no... no way. i thought i couldn't cry any harder than I already had on october 4th.

When that ending happened and the protag died I was the equivalent of the "EMOTIONAL DAMAGE" meme. I had what felt like depression for 3 days over a video game.

Gameplay is also rock solid, now you can control your party members. but it's held down with my BIG flaw with the game and only flaw as well, Tartarus. If Tartarus was actually a good and non grindy dungeon this would genuinely be my favourite game of all time, also the party members getting tired mechanic was dogshit but didn't affect my experience that much.

Overall, I'd very happily reccomend this game to a friend. Best JRPG I've played, 10/10.

I mean it's fine. Got nothing out of playing it tho

every few months, I reinstall this game, get surprised by the changes, play a few ranked matches and get curbstomped by hackers, then uninstall.

Funny story. I remembered one time my friend put "Friday Night" on during a Zoom call between friends on a Friday night. We all immediately started dancing

about the game it's fucking awesome go play it

If Handsome Jack wasn't in this game this'd be a 5/10

Had tons of fun playing with friends until we realised we didn't have the time and patience required to be able to compete with "xxlittlejohnny520" being able to build the Empire State Building, Burj Khalifa and an entire Airbus A380 all within 0.6 milliseconds.

Been considering picking it up again though

From an unbiased standpoint, this game is much worse than League. Feels like a dollar store League with virtually no learning curve. Played to a high rank within 10 hours of ranked, and no one still has a clue what the fuck they're doing.

From a biased standpoint, this game is better than League, but not by much. I am biased against League because of the negative impact it had on my life. I stopped playing League and just like that, my life became great and I have been able to control my video game addiction.
