Bro what even happened. As always the game makes incremental improvements in the gameplay front making it more enjoyable to play overall in comparison to 4. However the problem with 4's confusing story returns with a vengeance. By the end of the game i had absolutely no idea what was happening. I pretty much gave up trying to understand the story near the end and as someone who enjoys these games for the story that made this an incredibly hard game to enjoy overall.

Ngl i've been meaning to replay this one as i sort of rushed through my first playthrough. Overall the incremental improvements over 3 make this game much more enjoyable. While 3 had a very cookie cutter story this game attempts to do something different with its several protagonists. Some of the early scenes are very well done and set the tone incredibly well. Other than that though. The multiple perspectives causes the games story to get extremely confusing by the end. It almost makes me wish the game had the in between chapter recap system that 0 has as it would be much more necessary here in comparison to 0.

I don't like most of the PS3 era yakuza games if i'm going to be completely honest. Often suffering from confusing writing and combat issues the entries stretching from 3-5 are some of the most average entries. This one in particular suffers from very block happy enemies and annoying boss fights. At least the terrible out of place english voice acting at some points in the game makes it entertaining.

Dragon vs Dragon. Badass. Seriously that final fight with Ryuji is incredible. The games a 9 based off the intro to that fight alone.

As a remake, I believe it does improve on the original in many aspects. The tale of the dragon and the ten billion yen girl is still just as gripping even 18 years after Yakuza 1's initial release.

One of the best in its series. A great jumping in point due to its prequel status while simultaneously becoming even more interesting after playing the whole series. People often forget that this is technically the 6th entry in the series coming after Yakuza 5. Its deluge of side activities and incredible story make for an unforgettable experience that will probably make you cry at the end.

An extraordinary game. Accessible to newcomers due to its simple characters and understandable combo system while still providing an entertaining experience for those who wish to dive deeper. The fact that the version with the rollback is free also helps bring in newcomers and i often use this game to teach new players the basics of anime fighters. H-Ryougi is life.

A very controversial entry for fans of the series. It's changes to the system mechanics of the series have served to alienate long time fans of the series. It has done an incredible job at introducing new people to the fighting game genre however and for that it begrudgingly earns my respect.

The best fighting game (for fans of the genre). If you are a fan of fighting games with extraordinarily complex characters and layers upon layers of system mechanics then this game has you covered. It's resurgence in recent times due to its netcode update and subsequent new features such as replay takeover have set an extremely high standard for fighting games that I hope continues in the future.

Homophobia simulator. Ok in all seriousness the combat mechanics and main story are enjoyable over all. I just find the writing of the characters to be extremely contradictory and poor. I especially dislike the way Kanji and Naoto were handled. As both of the games queer reps their inclusion in the story is not only very bigoted at points but is fundamentally uninteresting especially in Naoto's case being a rare example of squandered Transmasc rep. I mean cmon Atlus you did good queer rep in Persona 2 why can't you do it again?

I wish every JRPG had the brevity of this one. It's short length in comparison to other JRPG's works very well in its favor by not only creating an incredible story that has very little low points, but by also reducing the amount of grinding to a miniscule amount. The combat mechanics are also very entertaining and create an incredible feeling while unlocking the team up moves for all the games characters.

Beneath it's buggy exterior lies an incredibly well written RPG that has given me many hours of enjoyment, especially with mods to improve the games stability.

If there was a way to give a game 6/5 stars on here I would do it for this one. An absolutely unforgettable experience. From it's incredible writing to it's beautiful art and music. Everything in this game is masterfully done. I would recommend acquiring this game on the seven seas in this case as the IP was stolen from the devs by the publisher making this a case where swashbuckling is the morally correct option.

Fantastic just like the original. Controversially decides to go for a wildly different tone compared to it's predecessor but I feel it works out well for this game.

The closest a game can get to perfect. Nothing in this game is done without careful consideration from the dev team and it shows.
