Konami really did make great games back in the day. One of their flagship titles, Castlevania was a landmark in atmosphere, difficulty, and theming for the early NES. I'll never forget the patterns for getting through this game, the strategies I found on my own through trial and error, or the simple yet iconic soundtrack.

I think later titles perfected what this laid the groundwork for (Castlevania 3 and Super Castlevania 4 for instance) but this initial title is still worth going back to to this day, which is impressive compared to the first Mega Man title, which it felt like was the series which competed most with Castlevania back in this time, along with Ninja Gaiden.

I am happy we have games like Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 1 and 2 to hold the torch for this iconic style of vampiric retro delight, and while I dig the Metroidvania adventure titles a tad more, I respect this style immensely and it should not go unnoticed.

I like this game. Fun bullet hell schmup. I love the style and aesthetic, music is cool too. Not life changing, but very cool game.

This is the one entry in a short list of sega genesis games I had a brilliant experience with. I played it on console a year and a half ago, and at first, I had the same experience I've always had with 2d sonic games: Having fun, but very annoyed by the obstacles and limiting my average speed level. I thought to myself, like a lot of people, "man its so annoying i have to stop and play slow sometimes."

Of course, as sonic fans understand, all i needed to do was play and play. I started to learn the levels, everything started to mesh in a cohesive way, and i started to get faster and faster. Jump here, kill this enemy in this specific way, jump up here and get this shield, etc. So, once it clicked, I understood why sonic fans love these classic sonic games.

What a fun game to get good at. Reminds me of 3d mario games in that way: getting good at this game is a lovely experience. Also, not to disrespect the other aspects of this game that are clean as fuck. It has incredible music, sprite art, and physics. All in all, a fantastic follow up to the first game and a game that grew on me massively as I played it.

Now this is one hell of a video game. Not perfect, I dont think. I feel it has some issues, like the pacing, some areas suck, some enemies suck, some bosses suck; but the game's strong points make up for it.

fantastic first half, chefs kiss. incredible vibes. fun combat system. intriguing lore and world setup. Also, you can't talk about dark souls 1 without acknowledging that some of its bosses are the most iconic in all of gaming. ornstein and smough - gwyn - sif - fucking knight artorias: some of the best in gaming. also, some setpieces are incredible. arriving at anor londo for the first time, turning out the sun, exploring deeeep into the depths of the game world and accidentally coming across fucking ash lake (one of my personal favorite moments due to atmosphere and intrigue alone)

I think it's one of those "flawed masterpieces" (ie xenogears, breath of the wild, mother 3, etc) but that does not change the fact that if I heard someone say this was their favorite game of all time, I would be completely understanding.

First impressions, as of world 5

This game is so fucking good, its online is adorable and effective while not being invasive, the level design is really really good this time around, the animations and character of everyone is just wonderful (haha) and the game overall works so well. Maybe my favorite 2d mario. the music is also incredible! game good. also the badges are awesome.

i really hope this gets a switch port one day

Looks like im the only review of this game as of the writing of this review! interesting.

This game is decent, surprisingly so. Some runner-type levels followed by slightly adventure-y stealthy platformer levels a few times and then a final boss against jafar.

it shows scenes from the movie pretty well and its pretty cute seeing them in the 8 bit graphics, though it does skip over some parts because i would suppose it has to - it is really short and a tiny file size. If you like prince of persia you will probably find this interesting!

This game was pretty good! I played it in two sittings with my girlfriend. I like the music, the levels are fun enough, but arent like, really r e a l l y good like the console 2d mario games tend to be. The levels are more interested in feeling like you're really in the worlds that you are in - the theming is fantastic, from the big house world, to the fantastic pumpkin world.

This wont blow anyone's socks off unless you have dirt low expectations of what the gameboy is capable of, in which case this will surprise you. But if youre expecting a solid mario game, you will get that, but not much past that.

I really liked this game! Good balancing for this new release, nice video options, the included guides on what spells do and what to do on some parts of the game were so extra, loved it.

Play this if youre looking for a very solid retro jrpg experience!

I can say definitively that this game is subpar lmao

theres a line from The Room that i like to think about, its when Mark says

"Shit, alright?"
and thats the whole damn line

addendum; this game controls better than sonic heroes but this is the one case where that means it is less fun and i will not elaborate

I havent beaten it but this is a hella good shmup and i like it a lot, its music kicks ass specifically mine

good pixel art too

I really did not enjoy this game as a kid i felt like i was playing sandpaper if that makes sense. I would rather play lord of the rings
