I do not like Sonic CD at all. It's saving grace is that it has an absolute banger of a soundtrack. (euro/jp version)

Levels are way too big and obnoxious and don't lend themselves well to the normal Sonic gameplay. Wacky Workbench is always a headache to playthrough.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Bean Machine.

On one hand, Puyo Puyo is just a pretty fun game and the Sonic skin is a nice touch with a simple but admittedly fun piece of music.

On the other hand, this is the hardest game I have ever beaten and one of my proudest moments playing a game ever. Finishing this game was my Mt Everest and I thought I was slowly going insane for hours on end.

It just feels slightly off... all the time. It's not a good feeling playing this.

Interesting for it's time and it works fine for what it is. Just a bit repetitive.

Final boss was pretty neat though, I liked it.

Vector stans rise up!

A gimmick that really works to be fair. The tether physics work nicely. I'd like to see this style come back to be honest, or at least see the game get a remake.

Unironically just a pretty fun time to go through, if you just have a casual couple of hours to jam out to the soundtrack you'll have a great time.

Honestly, I think the game would be a lot better and flow more if they just took out the hub worlds and just had custcene transitions between levels. The hub worlds added nothing but annoyance to me.

Other than that though, the game holds up really well. I enjoy all the gameplay styles (yes, even Big the Cat) and the story is at the right level of silly Shonen fun.

Some upgrades from SA1, some downgrades.

The flow of the game improves from removing hub worlds which I like, but merging the character styles into just the Good/Evil stories means you cant JUST play as the character you want and because Sonic/Shadow's levels are much shorter than everyone else's, it feels like theres less Sonic gameplay than ever.

Treasure hunting levels are too big this time that it becomes a bit tedious, but the mech levels are great fun, as are the speedster levels.

Story is a classic aswell.

This is EASILY my favourite of the "adventure" style games and close to being my perfect Sonic game in general.

Story is exactly what I want from Sonic, simple and unintrusive but with enough character to it to stay entertained.
Soundtrack is non-stop banger after banger after banger. (Seaside Hill is the best first level music in the series)
Characters all play the same with their own little twists which is the best formula imo.
Level themes and design is great and creative.

ONLY downside would how slippy the controls get but if this game ever got remade, it'd be hard to top it.

Starts off ok but just kind of overstays its welcome, especially with how many endings and route's there are.
Some of those level objective are just frustrating as well.

I remember playing local multiplayer a lot as a kid though.

The one Advance game that's really solid. Its visually the best with the most smooth character animations.

Levels are interesting without becoming a hellscape of bottomless pits. Still suffers from small zoomed-in screen though.

This... is awful

Every problem starting to form in Advance 1 is just boosted to 11. This game is an absolute bottomless pit nightmare, made worse by the crazy zoom in of the GBA. Sonic Advance WANTS you to go slow.

On top of that, bosses are all among the worst and most irritating things in the franchise and the game just visually looks so much worse than the first somehow?

I prefer it to the second game and it has some really fun and creative level themes but just in general, suffers from all of the same issues as the rest of the Advance games.

We ALL know how bad Sonic 06 is... it's an unpolished, unfinished, unoptimized mess.
My GOD the loading screens will make you suffer.

But I do wish we lived in a world where it wasn't. If this game was delayed and released in a working state I feel like Sega would've committed more to the adventure style gameplay it was working on before this.

And there IS good stuff in here, the levels are fine, stories interesting with a good cast of characters, it just... doesn't work.

The Sonic Rush games are SUCH a breath of fresh air after the horrible Advance titles. It finally feels like we have a solid Sonic title on the go that was made to function on the handheld it was built for.

While still not ideal, being able to see more helps so much when speeding through levels and reduces so much frustration.

Honestly though the only stage I really remember and stands out is Water Palace which has an all time great piece of music with it. The rest of the stages feel fairly standard for Sonic level ideas.
