Dropped when I got bored of going through dungeons that end in really underwhelming reused underlevelled "bosses". I'm sure there was more interesting stuff I could have done but eh, not much of a souls guy.
The combat has a lot of problems, too many of the shrines are copypasted tests of strength or gifts, the main "dungeons" leave a lot to be desired, the plot is nothing, but hey it's the only open world game to get me to complete most of its content, so it's doing something right.

Huge glow-up from 9. Levels and bosses feel like they weren't made solely to gnosh your balls, Bass is fun as hell, great weapon roster, fun Robot Master designs, and probably my favorite Wily plot.

Honestly did some things I'd really like the series to try again, the banter with bosses is nice as is the expansive playable cast and level editor.

Those were my first impressions
After replaying the game, I can actually say it does a lot of interesting things, and its difficulty is actually more fair than I realized, the major tip for this game is to use everything at your disposal, get good at using the weapons, do what you can to build up bolts and buy helpful items, and switch between equippables instead of just sticking to one. Once you engage with all of the game's systems, it really comes together in a way that people tend not to appreciate.

This game is infuriating even if I ignore how much of a step back it is for the series, hell I think I even like Rockman and Forte more, eugh. Anyway, if you've read this review you now have to draw Splash Woman hentai and send it to me on Discord at Nullify#2105.

Better than the NES games, still feels like a step back in some small ways from 8 and even 10 in others, mainly just disappointed that all these years later Mega Man games are using the same structure as the first game and the same basic plot... But as a video game it's above average and I don't think it's failing at what it set out to do, I just wish it aimed higher.

Glad to see the game get some more love over the years
This is what every Mega Man game should strive to be, if not more.
