Now, if only Square Enix could remaster FF Tactics as awesomely as this one...

She tactics my ogre till I reborn

I was a mess and couldn't enjoy the games anymore and THEN I find this game on Game Pass. I really enjoyed playing it, the overall quality was high. Textures, voiceover, story, THE ENDING, gameplay mechanics and the list goes on. Truly one of the best works of EA in a decade. I didn't think that I would finish this game 100% but I did. And while 100%ing other games generally felt like a burden, this one was different, I enjoyed patiently replaying the parts I have already been and getting the loot I missed. I can't wait to play the sequel even though it got less positive reviews than this one. I wanted to try the 'Sexy Merrin' mod but I have already uninstalled the game, what a shame...

Oh, the intro is pretty awesome too!

I joined my character on the journey to insaneness. He went mad I went mad, he got into depression and I still did not leave his side, I got depressed with him. Then I saw that this relationship was toxic and decided to abandon the game. After that, I have never seen that lunatic.

It's not very good, unfortunately. It plays fine, but suffers from acute "play through this stage again as a different character" syndrome, and feels like it's repeating itself throughout. Also too much sexy dress-up play for my liking. That doesn't work on me, Koei!

I thought this game would be funny bad but it's actually just the most offensively boring game ever. The combat is bad, the levels are bad, the story is bad, the pistols are infamously broken, the camera is even worse, nothing is good. The enemies and bosses are completely braindead, but they have the biggest health bars so the fights are just extremely boring. The only single good thing about this game is Dante's design, it's pretty cool. But even Dante in this game is boring as a character. I was begging for it to end the whole way through, I'm just glad this game is short.

I didn't understand why people hate this game so much, but now I understand, I don't have any positive points I can say about this shit.
Empty, meaningless game, no plot, no meaningful dialogue, horrible level design, repetitive gameplay and no variety. Super poor world design, no context, shitty characters (at least they don't destroy Dante nor improve him), Super easy difficulty, I literally finished it in 2 hours. You can beat all the bosses by standing in a corner and shooting. Nothing special, I mean, what the hell is this game doing in the DMC saga?

Among Persona fans, there are those who proclaim Persona 2 as the pinnacle of the series, and you know what? I totally get them now.

After having played both P1 and the first part of the P2 duology, I can't help but appreciate the differences between the old games and P3 to 5. Honestly, I'm glad P1 and 2 are not all like P3 to 5 because I don't think I'd have enjoyed them as much.

P2's gameplay is a major step up from its predecessor. It's pretty much the standard JRPG experience, and it can be a bit tedious at times, but just like in P1, it was worth trudging through. That being said, the encounter rate is still shit. It's not as torturous as in P1, but it's still annoying.

But let's talk about what really shines here—the story and characters. Man, the plot is just so darn intriguing and good. It's got its dark, heavy moments, but then it throws in these bursts of humor and wackiness that really keep things lively. And I think they did a pretty good job at balancing the humor and seriousness, which enriches the overall experience and leaves a lasting impression. The cast is also great. Each member of the main cast is carefully designed, with their interactions filled with chemistry and undergoing significant development as the journey unfolds. I really enjoyed my time with them. However, after P1, the soundtrack here takes a noticeable dive. While there are a few standout tracks, the overall soundtrack is kinda forgettable, which is a shame.

P2 Innocent Sin might have some outdated and average gameplay, but it's got one of the best stories and characters Atlus has ever cooked up for a Persona game. Finishing it has only got me more hyped for Eternal Punishment, especially because I get to see more of Maya and meet even more grown-up characters, who are the main cast this time around. An adult cast in Persona? Yeah, it's really old-school, huh?

losing my save file after 20 hours this is truly the dark souls of saving

Wish Hydlide was more popular than souls so I could hear the term "Hydlidilike" for any ARPG

The pinnacle of survival horror and one of the greatest games ever made. It's been over 20 years and I still love it just as much if not more.

Survival horror gameplay is so satisfying, especially in Resident Evil Remake. When you start out you feel like a mouse trapped in a violent maze. Then you start to learn the map, figure things out, get better and make your way through. Then the replays begin. You go from fumbling your way through to attempting things like harder difficulties, speed runs, no save runs, no hit runs, etc. It is so enjoyable, rewarding and fun. If there was any game I could forget and experience all over again it would probably be this.

Every enemy encounter is meaningful because they don’t go down quickly and you have to consider the risk, limited resources, item management and backtracking. When you approach a zombie or hear one around the corner you need to stop and make a decision. Do I take it out or try to run past? Is there another way to go? How much health and/or ammo do I have? How much health and ammo is back in the item box? When am I going back to the item box? How often am I going to come back here? If I put it down will I come back and burn it so it doesn’t get back up? What do I do if I get hit? Do I have any self defence items? How much progress will I lose if I die? The game allows you to screw yourself and never holds your hand but this makes overcoming it so much sweeter. It is utterly fantastic.

Then on top of this there is enjoyable exploration through creepy, atmospheric environments that you slowly unlock your way further into. With tense action against tough, scary enemies that forces you to stand your ground or run. The weapons hit hard and can produce graphic headshots and you can die just as horrifically. And the puzzles that are just right. Nasty traps, horror, gore and jump scares. This game recipe is f**king exquisite.

The presentation is stellar. The fixed camera angles allow the developers to perfectly frame the whole game to increase the atmosphere, horror and player discomfort, and to highlight or hide things for the player. The visuals and art direction are excellent. The environments are gorgeous and detailed or dirty and gruesome when needed. The mansion is stunning and has so much atmosphere. It is my favourite video game location ever, it’s that good. The character and enemy models are great. The game is getting old now but still looks so good. Of course the audio is top notch too. The music, sound effects and ambient noises are so well done but they also knew when to have restraint and it’s all such a big part of the game's unnerving atmosphere.

I love the characters, story, lore and dialogue too. The history of the mansion, Umbrella and the experiments is fun to dive into and all the notes/diaries/documents are worth reading. Jill, Chris, Barry, Rebecca, Wesker, even poor Richard, I love them all. The famous dialogue is a joy as is the B horror movie vibe.

The only thing I can think of that is wrong is that I wish there was more of it and that we still got games like this regularly. A little bit longer, more options, more unlockables, more variety on further playthroughs. But I’m probably just being greedy, this game is near perfect. The only other issue is that the cave and laboratory areas are not as memorable as the mansion and residence for me.

It improves on everything from the original while staying true to that vision. It doesn’t really throw anything away or remix stuff too much. It just makes it better and the new additions fit in so well it’s like they were always meant to be there.

Go play this now if you've never tried it. I’m serious, I don’t care what your plans are. If you’ve never played Resident Evil Remake, fix that as soon as possible. I’m jealous that you get to experience this for the first time and wish I could again. Give it some time, you will get used to the older gameplay style and find it really works for this type of game. I hope as many people as possible enjoy this. Resident Evil Remake is how remakes should be done and how well games in general should be done.

Good game! The writing is very good, one of the few JRPGs where it doesn't feel like the writers think players are stupid. Great characters and story as well!

Gameplay is also very good, but I'd say it can get quite repetitive and feel like a chore by the time you're almost done with the game because some battles can be pretty drawn out.

I didn't engage with the post-game stuff, though. There is a LOT of it, so if you really like the game you can spend hundreds of hours on it.

I am an idiot because this is my first Tactics Ogre game. I should not have missed this series in the past and should have played this already. So I'm grateful for this re-release but also unfortunately that means I can't compare it to previous releases.

I love the visuals and art style. The game play is really satisfying. I really enjoyed taking my time and planning my moves. The story and characters are good with plenty of twists and drama. Loved the setting, world and lore. Sound track is great. Plenty of content here too.

There are a few issues though. There is a level cap which I'm guessing is to stop you getting over powered but it's too restrictive. I wanted to try everything this game had to offer but some of the side stuff just felt like a dull grind. There is an uneven difficulty incline. Sometimes you breeze through a bunch of battles and then there's an occasional difficulty spike.

Tactics Ogre is getting pretty old now but still leaves the majority of modern games in it's dust. If you have enjoyed games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem then this should be on your games to play next list. So glad I finally played it. Tactics Ogre: Reborn is pretty damn great.

While the game may not have completely recreated the sense of wonder I felt as a child playing the old-school 2D Mario games, it certainly served as a delightful reminder of the joy and excitement that those games brought into my life, and I honestly couldn't ask for more.

The true highlights for me were undeniably the new lively and adorable animations. There are just so many little touches to the point where you can tell the developers really cared about making this game as charming and cute as possible, and they succeeded.
