HOLY this game holds up to this day
combat is pretty bad
story is pretty alright, although definitely not fleshed out enough considering the potential for story
but oh my god the gameplay is just
absolute peak
and the art style of the game makes it look like it hasn’t aged a day
i suck ass at this game but being able to keep a steady rhythm of momentum in this game is the most rewarding thing in the world
please give this game a try pretty please with a cherry on top

mechanically this is the best in the entire series no doubt because Witch Time is actually good again!!!!
granted the masquerade mechanic and summons isn’t as good as wicked weaves and umbral climax but the games gives summons and weapons that fix the problem (granted weapons only given if you played Bayo 1 or 2) and you can get used to the new mechanics and they actually become pretty fun and unique compared to the first two games (again at the loss of more complex combos and different weapon combinations on arms and legs)
but OH MY GOD THE STORY BEING THROWN IN THE TRASH WAS JUST NOT WORTH IT…
Bayo hasn’t always had peak writing what what the fuck were they cooking in the writing room man ðŸ˜
I say that and I actually like Viola so idfk
still though this entry is an iffy one
still a fun time just to play for gameplay

An absolute marvel of an indie game.
All of the pain and struggle that one goes through results in growth in game through learning paths and mechanics better with every death. Through every area you clear, you grow a sense of confidence that the game quickly humbles, but the spirit of determination is never truly sullied.
At points this game will get so stagnant and impossibly hard that it just may break you and lead to uninstalling it…
But the absolute catharsis of reaching the end of the game where you find it was all worth it is enough to bring one to tears.
Not only is the gameplay incredibly engaging and open ended, the story and regions are even richer, filled with mystery and uncertainty. The game around you truly makes you feel like you’re immersed inside a cruel and unforgiving world, not that you’re the center that everyone focuses on. There’s always a bigger fish than you, and sometimes those bigger fish will take out threats in a stroke of luck and fortune.
Rain World is an amazing experience that’s worth all of the frustration to see it through to the end that rewards the player for adapting through every death and lets you slowly unravel the mystery of where exactly you are.
