something about this was just insufferable. or multiple things perhaps. I am glad I did not pay for this. I only played for a very small amount of time but eugh. It was kind of like when I attempted to play Knack tbh.

they could have just not made him Indigenous ...

Played evil version for platinum ... I could write another long rant w examples about how stupid the karma system is.. I do think it is a bit better than in 1 and 2. It is so stupid though. Altho how stupid it is kind of works the best in 1. Idk. Either get rid of it because you just want to make the blue version about a guy who is Edgy but has a Heart of Gold, or put ONE button at the front of the game to play the red story or the blue story , and make them differenter , instead of making them basically the same so you can have the Meaningful Choice to press the blue button or red button at various points throughout. Especially with Reggie this makes it stupid. Surely no one is actually doing a playthrough where they pick some red options and some blue options. There would be no advantage to that. Even the game itself at the end is like "now you should try THE other version"

When I think of it almost everything in this game is better than 1 and 2. It looks very good on PS5 with the unlimited settings or whatever. The variety of elements is kind of fun except that by the time you get to the last couple there's not much point in trying them out. The characters have a lot more to them (while still not being that much lol).

Evil playthrough for platinum - similarly to the first game, but perhaps even more annoying because the general level of stupidity of this one is a bit lower, the choices are entirely meaningless (except for the Very Last one, which is different from 1 tbf, this one actually has two endings).

If evil you hunch over and spontaneously grow tattoos and rings and your shirt gets ripped. But in the main missions and non-karma side missions, you act exactly the same, have the exact same lines, etc. Care about your friends etc etc.

Stupid Karma Things Spoilers Rant:

Good side mission: Kill militia guys who are dressed as militia guys
Evil side mission: Kill militia guys who are not dressed as militia guys

More than one evil side mission: Throw a car at a building doing no damage and injuring no one.

Related to this there are a couple moment when being evil, where you engineer a problem and then "pretend" to rescue people from it, to Trick them into liking you. But then other ones such as the carthrowing ones are explicity to get people to Fear you, to keep them on edge etc. This also applies to the general "evil karma opportunities" i.e. "kill everyone all the time. So what is the plan eh

Main mission storm the fort. At issue: whether to use the thing. Good option: Do use the thing, but with blue girl. Evil option: Do use the thing, but with red girl.

Good playthrough: be nice to blue girl
Evil playthrough: be nice to red girl
Neither of them stops being an ally until Right at the end

In the mission where you decide either to free the cops or to burn down a mansion injuring all the hostages (are there any hostages .. idk). The red girl is canonically wrong... she is like don't save the cops they'll turn on you. They do not

Annoying thing: Nix's monsters, of which there seem to be literally 3, (an "army") she gets them whether you help her get them or not, she takes them away whether you help her and use them or not, they get killed offscreen regardless also.

Annoying thing: when you meet John he convinces you to heal the "special woman" by saying omg you have to help her what you want her to die etc. You do not have the option of not being convinced to help. She is invincible ps. And this is the guy leading you to the evil ending ...

Final Annoying thing:
The ending .. there are actually two different endings ... you have to choose between yourself and a few people, the needs of the many etc.

BUT the second you're like hmm now how will I decide, the vaguely interesting moment is undercut by THE STUPID TWIST where red girl is nice, for purposes of revenge cause she loves her "babies" (former actual people mutated into slime beasts), and blue girl is evil for .... just no reason .... just entirely contradicts everything she has done up to this instant

dumb !!

reasonably fun game to play tho obviously I got through it twice in quick succession lol. The relative usefulness of the evil powers as compared to the good powers was better in this game than the first one. But overall the powers and esp. melee were worse.

Marginally less Stupid than the first game. The characters make slightly more of an attempt at being characters and are therefore completely different from the characters in 1. Thrilling update: dead people no longer blink and look around

The powers are kind of worse tho. Like shooting a ball of lighting is so much less cool than shooting a Bolt of lightning. Alsosome handy default things from 1 are stuck as upgrades in 2. And the slick very slick and cool and Dynamic animations for the melee actually make it way worse cause he just leaps off in a random direction and doesn't hit the guy.

I was right that I would think the karma system is even stupider on evil playthrough. It is extremely obvious that the good (blue) option is the default choice. Would it have been so terrible if they had just made a game where you are a good guy with zapping powers.

Evil Side Mission: Kill the Cops
Mandatory Story Mission: Help the Cops

Whether evil or good, he still likes his friend and girlfriend and wants to keep them around etc.

You be Maximum Evil and kill everyone you see, but then you sass Kessler for "torturing people"

Evil Side Mission: Help Sasha do Evil Stuff
Main Story Mission: You hate her and call her "a psycho"

Evil Side Mission: Help Sasha do Evil Stuff with the assitance of Reaper Conduits
Reward: Area cleared of enemies (such as reaper conduits)

Evil Side Mission: Kill bad guys because you Hate them and they are your Enemies
Good Side Mission: Kill bad guys because they are going to hurt the innocent

Good Side Mission: Kill the First Sons and the garbage guys, who are fighting each other, with the assistance of police
Evil Side Mission: Kill the First Sons and the garbage guys, who are fighting each other, with the assistance of Reapers
the mission is identical red or blue version ...

Neutral Side Mission With No Effect on Karma: help the clinics get set up so they can heal people

Main Story Mission Where Trish is Strung Up:
Good Version: It was her, you rescue the doctors and she dies
Evil Version: It wasn't her, she was one of the doctors and she dies
IT CHANGES RETROACTIVELY WHO WAS WHERE DEPENDING ON WHO YOU CHOOSE

The ending is also the same regardless of if you evilly activate the ray sphere or goodly try to destroy it. it explodes.

Final thought on good being the default. The evil powers such so much. They are all like eugh so cool and Brutal .. very Evil .. but they're all just like. Instead of one ball of electricity it's 2 and then 5 and then 7 or whatever. But none of the 7 hit anything it doesn't even work. Whereas the good ones are more effective at killing guys (by making them stay still etc)

Dumb !!!

Not a bad game but unless you are trophy hunting just do the Blue version

This is Older than I remember it being back in the day ...

also Stupider... the good/evil choices are so dumb... and meaningless like you can't decide who to believe etc. or which side to be on etc.

It thinks it's so much cooler than it is. what a profound choice to describe in your gravelly voice. "I could ask this guy to do something... or I could kill him and everyone else in the area ... hmmm ....."

However it is fun to zap things and the way that this game is stupid is kind of funny. Now immediately finally doing the evil (=Red) playthrough so as to platinum. After that I will probably think the karma system is even stupider

I played this on a mix of the PS+ streaming and on an actual PS3, which was handy for playing in 2 different rooms lol. It worked better on an actual PS3 than on the ghost of a PS3 projecting itself into a PS5.

Used getting the rest of the DLC trophies as a pretext to lengthily play this all the way through for the 7th time

The arcade ticket trophy is SO STUPID I did do it tho

Every time I play this I compulsively collect every single piece of junk even tho I know I am about to stop playing and it all became useless ages ago when I had 10000 woods etc. : /

I wish I had logged this closer to when I actually played it cause now I don't really remember my thoughts lol. Quite good, there were certain things I found annoying (blaster limitations, cameos, heterosexuality,), I'd say the story was worse than the first one but the gameplay was better ..? I still very much found it worth platinum'ing idk. Which, one way the gameplay was better is the collecting was less impossible lol.

The second time I am logging this here but actually the date of the 50th time I played it, I have it bookmarked and return from time to time. It is a good game for taking a break with because it's over and done with in not-5-seconds-but-not-a-million-hours and it's just a little puzzle.

On this one I got 758 which is annoyingly close to my high score of 765 which I have hit twice. Beat that

Did the return to Yharnam thing which was fun, as there were people playing so if you summoned for a boss someone would show up. I kind of messed that up by also taking the opportunity to try an Arcane build, which led to me Really not needing help with most bosses lol. But that was also a good time, I like that in bloodborne using spells doesn't use up a weapon slot. Do not think I will do arc again tho. It led to me using LHB as it has good scaling, but I have used that before. Will try some weird weapon next time.

Fun enough and short enough that I played it again straight away to do the umbrella run and get platinum, the annoying things were again annoying, but I had also figured out how to deal with them (and some of them were actually Easier to deal with when relying on ranged attacks)

While just ripping through to get a trophy it was possible to ignore almost all of the story .., I hope no one does that when they're playing the first time

Not actually a new playthrough (cycle goes on and on u kno) but I returned to it and played it a lot for a few weeks.

1º helping people in co-op which is fun, more single-player games should have a "just have a 2nd single player" mode

2º finishing the DLC which I did not feel like doing after completing the game originally. Very good. There's some reddit post or something saying how the DLC fixes all the problems with the base game, which I don't completely agree with but mostly yeah. It's not Better but it is Refreshing as in it Refreshes one's interest in the game u kno, kind of like the "problems" in the base game only become problems after you've been at it for a long time. The DLC is so Fast which is fun after taking time to look around and find everything etc. in the regular game.

Played a 2nd time to see the added stuff, which was pretty good, like more of the same goodness as what was already there. It is a little weird playing the whole beginning when you already know how it ends, but it's still so Nice & the music does as the kids say "slap."
