2018

It's impossible to talk about this game and not mention just how pretty it is, I mean this is easily the most gorgeous game I have ever played. It's not all looks though, the movement and platforming feel really nice and there's a simple puzzle aspect to it that I really love too. I don't want to give away any story details because I believe that going in blind and interpreting things on your own is the best way to experience this game.

Little Nightmares style gameplay, classic Brother's Grimm storytelling, plus character designs reminiscent of The Spiderwick Chronicles by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black? It's like this game was specifically made just for me!

[Played on SteamDeck (verified), batterylife wasn't great, but it ran perfectly and I had no issues with it.]

The best part of the first two Amnesia games, in my opinion, was piecing together the mystery alongside your character. I unfortunately didn't have this same experience with Rebirth, I figured out nearly the whole "mystery" not even half-way through my playthrough. The atmosphere was really good, the environments were interesting, puzzles were a mixed bag, and I liked the monster designs. Overall it's not a bad game, but I'd rather play the other games in the series to be honest.

This game is unapologetically brutal and raw. I thought I knew exactly what I was getting into when I launched the game, but I still wasn't fully prepared. This is not an easy experience and there is no perfect happy ending, just like in real life. If you can get past the trigger warnings, you should absolutely play it and support Taylor McCue.

I randomly decided to give Shadow of Mordor a chance because I was on a Tolkien kick and it was on sale, 50 hours later and I've 100% beaten the game and it's easily on my top 5 favorite games! I'll be honest here, I don't really like open world games and I always end up giving up on them, they're just not my thing. So I don't know if me beating Shadow of Mordor and loving it so much is a sign that it's a BAD open world game, or it's such a GREAT open world game that even someone like me could like it. Give this game a shot and figure this out for yourself lol

If you like pretty environments with bold color pallets, sea creatures flying in the sky, soft music, and chill gameplay, then I think you'll like this game.

I fell through the floor twice and somehow managed to sidestep a wave of water that should have killed me instantly, which led to me being stuck instead. Luckily I was able to just quit and reach my previous saves with no problems. Outside of glitches, I really have nothing interesting to say. This game is pretty generic honestly, being stuck on a sinking ship is pretty cool though.

It's very a short ride, but an interesting one. The ending really took me by surprise, I was expecting something very different.

Playing this just left me craving more! I'd love to see a longer sequel with puzzles that get progressively harder. This one is super short and the puzzles are too simple.

Interesting concept but it leaves me craving more! It's very short and the puzzles are too simple for my liking, but it has a lot of potential.

This game sent me on a ride, this game intrigued me, confused me, pissed me off, and made me tear up. I want to clarify that these emotions were not caused by the gameplay, but the story. It's an emotional one if you're willing to open your heart and give it time.

This game has a great comic book aesthetic, but everything else is just okay to mediocre in my opinion. The story is short and blunt, the characters are vaguely interesting but aren't given much time to work with, and the gameplay was quite frustrating at times. I was able to finish the game because I had just enough interest in the story and appreciation for the style to continue, but I don't think I'll ever play it again.

2016

[Played on SteamDeck (playable) and it ran perfectly, but I had cloud save issues every time I tried to play, luckily it just required a reload, and I didn't lose any data.]

I really enjoyed my time with this game, but unfortunately I could only play 10-30 minutes at a time because it would give me a headache. The screen often shakes in certain areas and combined with the sudden change in colors, it can grow to be pretty painful. I wish there was an option to switch the screen shaking off, this would help a ton for me personally. I did power through and finish the game though, and I really loved the puzzles (besides the obstacles that caused the screen to shake) and the color switching mechanic was so fun to mess with!

[Played on SteamDeck (verified), crashed twice and ran into some graphical glitches and issues with saves, but I'm pretty sure these were all issues with the game and not exclusive to SteamDeck.]

This game is so weird for me because I feel like I shouldn't like it, but I do?? The gameplay is repetitive, the story is kind of a mess, I got so frustrated that I actually debated abandoning the game multiple times, and the game would glitch out sometimes and not save properly (adding to my frustration). Despite all this, I found the game oddly addicting. When I wasn't playing I'd often find myself thinking about what would happen next (I went in blind with no spoilers) or how I could get through the section I was stuck at. The gunplay feels great and the stealth is fun to mess with and exploit, but I didn't really get into the story outside of the basics sadly.

[Played on SteamDeck (status: unknown), and had no issues at all.]

If you like casual point and click games, then I'm sure you'll love this game! Even if you don't like those kinds of games, the game is free so check it out anyway!
