why is this so good despite being a free game?

I've stuck by DICE's side through the worst of days during BF4 and BFV. But this game is a complete embarrassment to the franchise. At times this game feels like a realization of Battlefield V in Battlefield 3's setting and that is perfect. Most other times the game is utterly broken. DICE usually fixes these games over time but 2042 has failed to fix basic bugs identified in its beta. Breakthrough is still amazing. Portal was a waste. Hazard Zone was a joke. Specialists were a mistake.

I only played through the first Mars DLC, but this game was a lot of fun compared to the first one.

The greatest FPS ever made. Played on Nightmare.

I've loved this game since day 1! I've done like 5 playthroughs at this point. Note I've never made it to the center though.
