A more action focused RE2make just like the original was a more action focused RE2. I do miss the clock tower and wish the city streets were a little more fleshed out but overall I’d say it still worked fairly well. My biggest problem with the game is that it’s just not scary at all. Coming off of RE2make which is one of my favorite games in the series for how tense it left me throughout my first playthrough, I’m upset that I never really felt in danger the entire game. They nerfed the hell out of Nemesis and that is so disappointing after seeing how great they did Mr. X in RE2make. I did feel a little uncomfortable when the spiders came out to play but that’s the only time. The only reason died more than once is because the second to last boss has a combo that can stunlock you to death from full health even on normal, if it wasn’t for that I would have gotten through with only a single death that happened due to my own stupidity. The final Nemmy form is really fucking cool though.

I do like the characters quite a bit, this interpretation of Carlos is surprisingly good and Jill is always great. The changes to the story overall I thought were alright and since the same general story beats happen and the ending is so close to the same this still fits the canon as it is now, although I am excited to see how they tackle the RE4 remake after this.

RE8 has the scariest segment to ever be in the series and that alone makes me rank it so highly. The Beneviento Estate is a highlight of the series as a whole and was genuinely terrifying for a first time play through.

Village also has my favorite story of the series as a whole and maybe the first genuinely great story in the series that isn't just a very basic A to B plot held up by its characters. This game cemented Ethan as one of the best protagonists in the series and really made me love its villains. Starting with the obvious, Lady Dimitrescu is great (horny not included). Her trying to keep her composure and keep up her "ladylike" facade while chasing you down is fantastic. Heisenberg is probably my favorite of the bunch just because his dialog is fantastically written and his VA pulls it off in stride. His boss fight is also my favorite in the game.

The gameplay is a more polished version of RE7 with some added touches that just make it the better game. The combat is more satisfying simply due to the increase in animation and sound quality while the exploration is more rewarding due to the amount of collectables and treasures to find and the larger amount of puzzles which RE7 sadly lacked in.

Probably the best game the Guerilla has made so far. It does really well in actually making this sci-fi setting about space WWII feel incredibly grounded, even the more outlandish things like the lightning gun and the hovercrafts feel like versions of those things that could actually happen. It helps that even in this far flung future, they still mostly use weapons that are obviously derived from current real world weaponry. It also has one of the best video game shotguns ever along with some incredibly satisfying weapons like the boltgun and the aforementioned lightning gun.

This game filled me with such pure glee and delight that I honestly couldn't stop smiling for an hour straight. That said, I'm afraid the controls are kinda iffy, making it hard to recommend this from a pure gameplay perspective—though I do love how mechanically adventurous it is for such a short title. If only this had the tight gameplay of something like Thumper, it would likely be a five-star contender. In any case, while I may not see much replay value in here, I will fondly remember my brief time with it. In fact, after finishing this game for the first time, it felt like it added a minimum of ten years to my life expectancy—pretty good bargain if you ask me...

It's aged remarkably well for a GameCube game but I think it definitely has room to improve. There is a lot of filler that could be trimmed down and the controls could be a bit smoother but other than that it's still a great game.

I found myself being more positive on the game after my most recent playthrough than I used to be but I still think it had the potential to be the best in the series but crumbled under its own weight in the last 2-3 hours.

Running throughout the city feels fantastic and the visual style is amazing, I just wish the story was better and the gunplay could have been tuned a little more to feel like it made more sense.

Fantastic shooter that has a very gripping and engaging narrative that humanized BJ in a way that I never thought possible.

This game is a perfectly fine 6-7 out of 10 that gets more shit than it deserves but I can also see where that comes from. Deacon St. John is a very abrasive character that I can easily see pushing people away but by the end of the game I ended up enjoying him more than I expected. The other characters we're alright at best and downright unlikable at worst but overall I think it was a fairly enjoyable game that ended up wrapping up in a mostly satisfactory way. Just wish the final "boss" wasn't just a QTE with the worst character in the game and that there was more to the end of it all.

Quite shocked I never was able to get around to these games back when I was still undergoing my Batman phase as a child, but the best thing that Batman: Arkham Asylum did for me was remind me of how great it felt to have underwent that phase back then.

The great attention to detail put into the world of Arkham Asylum, turning it into a labyrinth makes the exploration of the enclosed setting feel like its own world, but it also creates a perfect atmosphere for the game too. It would be easy enough to take a character like Batman and make him the star of just about any other superhero video game, but instead what's been brought out here is a straight-up horror game - never afraid to go even more twisted as it goes on.

But above all, it's also very briskly paced, while feeling very free enough to that point it actually feels bigger than it actually is. Impressive stuff.
