A very fun Digimon romp, but a little too long for my taste. It may as well be classified as a visual novel because you'll spend 80% of the game just reading. And that would be fine if the plot and / or the characters were compelling, but unfortunately they just aren't.
The variety of Digimon is staggering though!

There are many great Fire Emblem games, but none are as skillful at world-building as this game. The narrative is compelling, the gameplay is fun. Small gripe is that it's very long, and the battles take a long time due to the animations (the Gamecube graphics really didn't age well), but none of these small issues should sully the experience for true FE fans.
The courage of this game is staggering. Rarely do you see such a mature, competent story from Nintendo. The gameplay is challenging, but the loop of getting to know your classmates and leveling them up is addicting. I unintentionally started and completed a second route immediately after I finished the first one. For about 2 months, I wasn't able to play anything else but this game.

One of the best games I've played on the DS. The battles ride a good balance of not being overcomplicated, but still having deep enough mechanics to engage you. I honestly found the fossil-cleaning process very fun, but some think it's a bit tedious. When you meet it on its own terms, you'll come away thinking it's a great game!

An "ok" JRPS experience. To get through the game quickly, I had to play while glued to a guide, especially for the dungeons, which I didn't prefer. Still took about 20 hours.
The battles are a tad uninteresting, which is 90% of the game. The difficulty curve did spike towards the end, which helped with the strategy aspect, but by then I just wanted to finish.
I kind of wish I took the advice of others and played the original instead. The anime-style cutscene images drew me in, but what I didn't realize is that these are few and far between. I'd be surprised if there were 15 total in the game. Most of the game consists of traversing the strange 3D dungeons, not experiencing story scenes.
I played this hot off the heels of PSIV to get some additional background in the world and lore, but in my opinion, it just didn't measure up.
