While a little more limited than its successor, the first RCT is still great. Forest Frontiers might be the first park I think of when it comes to the franchise, just a perfect intro park. The game has a lot of other really great well balanced scenarios as well. Beyond that, all that matters is that the coaster contruction was just as cool here as in later entries. I just love the creativity it affords you in putting together rides, parks, etc. Wonderful sim.

What's true of the first game is still true here, the only thing that's good in this game are the handful of minigames. The main difference here is that Gold/Silver pokemon were added. It still misses the point of a Pokemon game nearly entirely with no catching, no training, no traveling, just pointless battles. I guess the point was to see pokemon fight in 3D, that is no longer a novelty. The minigames were okay!

A charming 3D Platformer built around a physics engine, which is sometimes a bit janky but that just adds to the charm. Like in the first Banjo-Kazooie, each world can be completed in one go, which is always satisfying. This game does have hints too, which could help you finish up a world. The physics system can make the platforming a little sloppy/chaotic sometimes, but I think dealing with that is part of the fun. Overall it's one of the best platformers on a console famous for them.

This really cool racing game is just a bit too mechanically dense for its own good, but again: it's really cool! The tracks are a mix of outdoor courses and basic dirt bike arenas. The outdoor courses are more atmospheric, but also more confusing. Additionally, you can make your own courses, which is so cool. It's just unfortunate that riding your bike is so clunky. There's a massive tutorial on how to do it properly, but it'd be better if it was just intuitive, you know?

This is where Mario Party (briefly) perfected the formula. The game minigames that unlock after you play them once, a full suite of duel minigames, the ability to carry 3 items, Waluigi, all things that once you have them it feels like Mario Party should've always had them. There are also all sorts of neat little less consequential additions, like the Duel mode, Game Guy, and the Story Mode, that aren't essentials but none the less add to the fun. This is a perfect Mario Party. <3

A brilliantly streamlined RPG that's super fun and jam packed with charm. I especially love the combat. Since the health/damage numbers are low, it makes it really easy to do napkin math to figure out the absolute best ways to tackle battles. I wish more RPGs worked like this. The game's 8 chapters take you to a nice variety of fun locations and there's a nice progression of upgrades/partners which lets you deal with tougher and tougher foes which is rewarding. Power Plus best badge! <3

I hadn't played many space shoot em ups when I got this as a kid, and this one seemed alright. I remember it using 3D backgrounds really well, and also I liked that there were 3 different ships. It was kind of a novelty since I hadn't played many games of its kind, however I didn't get super into it. The genre just doesn't do much for me.

Wonderful simulator, I played so much of this one. As a kid I don't know I really understood how to make good roller coasters or how to keep paths from becoming perpetually covered in puke, but that didn't stop me from playing a ton of the game and creating loads of rides & parks. There's one massive desert based park I always think of when I look back. I wish I still had the save file. Anyway, this game incredible. So creatively satisfying. <3

A rather slapdash 3D platformer with some charm. Some. It is cool to explore the huge environments of the Toy Story world - everything is really big and you platform around rooms, neighborhoods, construction sites, whole bunch of places. However, gameplay wise, it's mostly a mess. It handles okay on a basic level, but there's so many rough edges when it comes to combat, power ups, level design, you name it, it's rough. While there are cool things about it, it's definitely mediocre.

An incredible game which set the standard to which platform fighters aspire. I still remember the first time I saw Mario's jeans - this whole game was a massive jump in fidelity as well as scope. The game has so many characters, so many stages, nice accommodations for more serious players, perfect basic gameplay additions and wonderfully tight gameplay. While I didn't get into the competitive scene myself and never fought strong opponents, I was still blown away by this. <3

A really neat strategy adventure that is unfortunately far too strict for its own good. Unlike later games in the series, there's a lot of ship parts in this game that are absolutely mandatory and you don't have much wiggle room in the schedule to waste if you want to beat the game. As a kid I was struggled a lot finding time to grow my army, beat specific hard bosses, and collect everything in time. While the game is definitely fun, I often ran out of time and ended up frustrated.

While I never loved the 2 minute timer goal based gameplay of the original Pro Skaters, I'm still really fond of this entry. Based on what I've seen of the first two, this is where they got the knack for building parks. The parks here are really well designed, memorable and fun to skate on. The game also introduced the revert, which is the last absolute essential move for the combo system that was introduced. This game is really fun to dink around with to this day.

A great ghost busting game with tons of personality. The basic gameplay works really well, and while they may have come to regret designing the C Stick around the needs of this one game, it certainly helped to make it super snappy and satisfying! I especially love how every portrait ghost is sort of like a one off hand designed little puzzle encounter, it really helps to mix things up and keep you from getting tired of combat. It all just works super well.

I guess this was a nice looking game and probably played alright, but I just never really understood any of what you were supposed to do in it. The missions were all really confusing to me, and as a result I got very little out of it.

Hell of a good guilty pleasure game. While it can be fairly rough around the edges, to me that just gives it character. In particular I love Sonic and Shadows levels, they're a little bit sloppy but that adds to the slightly out of control feeling you get as you tear through them. The other four characters' gameplay isn't quite as fun, but there's still a lot to love there from music, atmosphere and cool factor. Also, there's the Chaos Garden! This game is jam packed of cool shit. <3
