this is gonna be a long one

moog city - the piano gives me chills every time without fail.
minecraft - this one should be obvious
subwoofer lullaby - memories of better times... but that describes most of these.
living mice - strolling around a plains biome, ready to take on the unknown. ugh, this is getting cheesy.
haggstrom - the one and only! i swear half these tracks make me want to cry from nostalgia overload.
wet hands - ICONIC, though once again, that goes for most of these.
Sweden - i'm not crying... you are...
danny - sometimes i wish i could go back then. even if only for a day. cheesy again? dammit.
alpha - every time i beat minecraft again, i rewatch these credits. i know the end poem itself is supposed to be some sort of joke by notch, but that won't stop me from sobbing uncontrollably!
blind spots - i have a specific memory for this one. building random bs with my childhood best friend in creative mode. those were the days.
aria math - idk what the instrument here is but man i love it
honorable mention: Intro - yeah i know this one isn't even in the game but its on volume beta and it is legit one of my favorite songs, ever. tears everytime, man.
Yakuza 0
Yakuza 0
Interplanetary Spark - I still can't believe that the best non boss fight theme is tucked behind an optional thing
Two Dragons - this shit just made that final boss that much better

Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Recieve and Turn You - easily the best version of recieve you, and just an all around BOP. my favorite boss theme in the series.
Substory Battle Theme - i love that it combines 8 bit/16 bit soundfonts with modern stuff, really good song.
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
Rage Awakened - best boss in the series btw
The Other Promise - bruhh why tf my eyes sweating
Kingdom Hearts III
Kingdom Hearts III
Hearts as One - this is just The Other Promise but somehow better, which is insane considering The Other Promise is already 10/10 phenomenal
Toy Box Jam - they didn't have to go this hard on a simple world battle theme
OneShot
OneShot
entire soundtrack is perfect tbh, especially if you need study music, but if I have to pick a favorite...

Niko and the World Machine - purely piano songs are always so good bro
Yakuza 2
Yakuza 2
A Scattered Moment - Quite possibly one of the best final boss themes ever made. Fuck i love this song.
Terraria: Calamity Mod
Terraria: Calamity Mod
I hope dm dokuro knows that I would kill for a vinyl version of this soundtrack. anyways, highlights include:

Infestation - this is the one where i first realized this soundtrack would be something else.

Blood Coagulant - GODDDDDDDDD I LOVE GRUNGE GIVE ME MORE GRUNGY GUITARS YESSSSSSSSSS

The Filthy Mind - see above
Antarctic Reinforcement - wonky time signatures are so cool omg

Raw, Unfiltered Calamity - takes everything great about calamity's music up until this point and mashes it into one fantastic song

Siren's War Cry - incredible vocals, sort of a "calm before the storm"

Forbidden Lullaby - i don't know what it is about this song but it makes me feel so powerful. fuck.

Interstellar Stomper - the sick ass guitar solo rocks me to my fucking core every single time i listen to it holy shit

Fly of Beelzebub - if you song includes a part where the composer just goes off using the main instrument of that song, chances are i will like your song

Universal Collapse - Servents of the Scourge and Scourge of the Universe are also amazing, but this is easily the best of the three. fast paced, high energy goodness. absolutely sublime.

Roar of the Jungle Dragon - everything good about DM Dokuros music, and on top of that, lyrics???? incredible. my GOD can DM Dokuro sing.

Stained, Brutal Calamity - takes every single amazing thing about the rest of the soundtrack and shoves it into one 12 minute masterpiece. deadass one of my favorite video game songs ever.
Bloodborne: The Old Hunters
Bloodborne: The Old Hunters
Ludwig, the Holy Blade - as much as i adore Elden Ring's The Final Battle, this song remains fromsofts pinnacle when it comes to music. fucking phenomenal.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
You Will Know Our Names - Finale - THIS IS THE GREATEST SONG EVER HOOOOOOOLY SHIT
Risk of Rain Returns
Risk of Rain Returns
Double Fucking Rainbow - I find it so insane of Chris took a song from ROR1 that had next to no story implications, and turn it into essentially the main motif of providence and mithrix. Absolutely mindblowing stuff

Coalescence - obvious pick but this song just really is that good. 10/10 best song in the game, no notes.

Double Fucking Rainbow Returns - Having this come on when Providence hit phase 4 was genuinely a top 3 gaming moment of the year for me, fucking unbelieveable.

Coalescence Returns - an incredible piece to end an incredible game. the vocals do so much to add emotion. realizing what you just did by killing providence. FUCK. this franchise is incredible.
Risk of Rain 2
Risk of Rain 2
Terra Pluvium - one of the first songs that made me realize how special this soundtrack, and game, were really gonna be. that drop is insane.

A Glacier Eventually Farts (And Don't You Listen to the Song of Life) - atmosphere as FUCK, perfect for the void fields. has one of the highest peaks in the soundtrack. incredible stuff.

Antarctic Oscillation - that 7/4 beat is crazy. i love odd time signatures. absolute banger

The Rain Formerly Known As Purple - while I actually (by only a little) prefer the sky meadow theme from ROR1/R, this is still a classic. chill asf, wonderful buildup, and amazing references to Purple Rain by Prince. I understand why is this some peoples favorite.

You're Gonna Need A Bigger Ukulele - those guitar riffs are incredible. the transitions between phases are so cool. and having a motif from the first game come back and transformed into essentially the brothers theme? unbelieveable stuff.

...con lentitud poderosa - the song that got me to play the game. gives me chills to this day. The moment I first got to commencement was an unforgettable moment, and commencement is still probably my favorite stage in the game. one of my favorite video game songs ever, even moreso now that i've played RORR and know the connections to Coalescence. Its just perfect.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
I'm Fading Away - might be my new favorite song in the series. makes me tear up every time i listen to it. the lyrics are so heartbreaking oh my goddddddddd.
