My favourite game of all time, don't think I've ever beaten a jrpg as many times as this one, and I still end up discovering new stuff.

The ex skill system and friendship affinity system adds for different nuances per playthrough with extra/different scenes, dialogues and gameplay. At points of the game you can mix up how you want to progress and get through the story in different ways, which adds for a lot of replayability.

The HD version has japanese va (with fully voiced skits) as an alternative, though the english va (no voiced skits) is still pretty good. I'm too attached to the english voices to usually swap, but I would probably recommend japanese to experience the skit dialogues with voice acting. The HD version has some extra sidequests and high ougis. (late game special attacks)

Meanwhile, the lightning and shading effects, as well as the older character models makes the original GC version pop more visually. The music also doesn't loop after battles on the GC.

Still, this is also the series first outing in 3D at a time when set standards were more undefined and experimental.
Granted there's certain aspects which haven't aged as greatly, there's stiff stock animations, some cheesy dialogues, the plot may seem shallow the first hours, some akward dungeon puzzles, no free running in battle, missable items and time sensitive quests that even fleshes out character motivations and other elements of the story.
It's definitely aged, yet I still absolutely appreciate Symphonia for what it was back then for me, and how it still keeps me hooked with its amount of diversity, great cast of characters and story filled with layers on layers of details and the sense of new discoveries every damn time I replay it.

A game I really cherish, but at the same time I can't deny the game's flaws in having a party member roster of 45 characters. This game has some really powerful story moments and great translation, and while a bunch of the characters are just fillers, the ones that matters are really great. Chrono Cross is something else than Chrono Trigger, both for better and worse

If there's one game worthy of a proper hd remaster. It's this one! One of the greatest jrpgs!
R.I.P Rieko Kodama

Absolutely love this gem. The battlesystem is addictive and basically plays like poker, the pre rendered environment are a sight to behold, amazing music from Motoi Sakuraba, and a story with some of the coolest twists. It starts slow, but gets really good. The english va is some of the worst I've heard, but thankfully you can turn it off.. The translation and writing however is top notch material. An alltime favourite!

being a prologue set some time before Baten Kaitos Eternal Wings. Origins borrows a lot of assets and areas straight from it's predecessor. Yet there's still a decent amount of new areas while older areas have been tweaked up, making the game feel fresh. Again it's all about cards blended with the jrpg formula, but damn how fun it is. The writing and voice acting is also super stellar. great cast of characters and a fun world to visit almost just as much as eternal wings

This to me is the harvest moon that has everything. charming design art, festivals, great amount of bachelors, and great variety with all the farm work. Alongside Friends of Mineral Town and A Wonderful Life, this is a timeless classic

endless fun, wickedly stylish, sexy, fluid, classic, bangin, peak of gaming and everything else. Incredible game! Now to replay Bayo 2 before 3 comes out.

Still my favourite in the series. No other games in the series touches the sheer magic atmosphere and design of this one. It's definitely quirky and ambigious, but that's also why I love it

I'd almost deem this my favourite in the series if it didn't have the tamagotchi system attached to it. The worlds are amazing and exploration is a thing again and while the free flow movement is beyond broken it's insanely fun to use.

A decent kh game. and especially great for its era on the psp. I don't think it has aged too well, and playing through the 3 characters in a row can be a bit repetive, although their stories and world visits are varied enough. some of the lengthier worlds you literally have to play over again per characters which in my oppinion drags.

If you have the tolerance to scale through Majoras Mask's instant pressure and complexity of activities through its 3 day cycling groundhog concept, you'll be in for an experience unlike ANY other adventure game.

Majoras Mask has a strong identity, rich and eerie in colours, memorable and versatile, within its compact world there is a broad attention to detail, heaps of discoveries and magical moments that will stick with you.

A great and colorful zelda game, a lot of ww later game consists of sailing to miniature islands boasting reused assets, small puzzles or gauntlets, whereas the final dungeon and story feels a bit rushed after a certain point, everything leading up to that point is a briskly paced fun narrative journey through greater islands and larger dungeons that really stands out.

The attention to visual detail is majestic with both Link, goblins or other enemies reacting with fully animated emotions to their surroundings and hazards.

Other environmental details like flower and trees swaying in the same direction as the wind. Or specks of dust blowing away from the ground as the wind changes, all adds for a very organic artstyle. Windwaker is still one of the prettiest if not THE prettiest cel shading around. And the HD version lifts up the presentation even further, with some exceptions.

The bloom effect hits some sour spots at times and the shading really doesn't benefit as much in the darker areas, but when the sun shines and you're out in the light there's a whole other spectrum of the visual quality.

While the game runs at a generally stable 30 fps there's some occassional framedrops whenever too much is going on at once. But thankfully the HD version has so much more added in that remedies most of the issues of the original gamecube version.

Alongside a higher resolution, better draw distance and new instruments added for the OST that really makes a handful of tracks stand out even more, the HD version also adds a lot of small fixes with a new faster sail, gyro aiming + 1st person roaming, aiming cursor for cannon aiming, real time inventory+map with the gamepad etc, a bunch of small fixes that just makes the gamecube version hard to get back to.

While you can tell they had to resort to recycling assets for the sidequesting, Windwaker is still a great journey with sound mechanics, a great OST and glorious visuals. It's very understandable how many would considers this their favourite LoZ.

The beginning of an oddball of a series. Training martial arts, playing arcade games, collecting gatchas, forklifting, abusing fortune prophecies to win slot reels, encountering new scenes and events you haven't encountered before, while traversing a very cool detective story of finding out the mysteries of the world of Shenmue. An incredible experience if you have the patience to learn how it all works and can appreciate the rich atmosphere of the game

one of the most impressive games I've played to this day. the insane amount of voice work put in this game, not to mention how all the npcs have their own va's and design for the most part is just astounding. Each and every corner of this game is beautifully crafted. There's always something to discover in this game.
Shenmue 2 is grand and majestic with memorable story beats.
