A love letter to classic survival horror games with updated mechanics that makes the game accessible to an audience that did not grow up with the genre. The story and enemy design were both classic Resident Evil/Silent Hill. I absolutely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of classic and modern horror games.

I'd played this game before, but I was much younger and not able to appreciate the absolute genius Metal Gear Solid is. The game play holds up well for being over 25 years old, and the story is like no other. I absolutely recommend everyone play this game, even if your only way to do so is Twin Snakes (which is not as bad as people make it out to be. Yes it has it's problems, but it's still great)

Half Life 2 Episode 2 continues the improvements started by Episode 1, however it does fall short comparatively in a small number of things that Episode 1 finishes. It brings back the chapters that seem to overstay their welcome, but also adds great new mechanics, maintains better pacing than the base game, and introduces new enemy types that are challenging and fun to fight.

Having played Half Life 2 Episode 1 directly after finishing the base game, I feel that it resolves many of the issues I had with Half Life 2. Each chapter has great pacing and feels well packed with story, combat, and puzzles. A great way to continue the story of Half Life and address criticisms of the base game.

Half Life 2 is a fantastic follow up to Half Life, however, it does have it's faults. The campaign feels like it overstays it's welcome in some chapters, where as there are standouts like "We don't go to Ravenholm..." and "Nova Prospekt" which I feel are the best the series has to offer. Overall Half Life 2 was worth my time and everyone should play such a classic piece of gaming history.

Cyberpunk 2077 was and still is my favorite game of all time. Replaying it for Phantom Liberty, I fell in love all over again with the world and characters. Phantom Liberty takes everything that made Cyberpunk 2077 a perfect game for me, and turns it up past 11. Every character interaction feels real and the stakes the DLC sets rivals the greatest spy stories. I highly recommend that everyone take the time to experience Cyberpunk 2077 and it's DLC. It is 100% worth your time.

Mechanically, Persona 5 Royal was everything I loved about Persona 4 Golden and more. It does great work to refine the already mature parts of P4G while also introducing new, fleshed out mechanics. Story wise, while it is absolutely fantastic, I feel that it is a step down from P4G in character development and general writing. Overall, no one can go wrong with this titan of a JRPG as a entry point to the series. It's dripping with style and captivating all the way to the end, despite it's flaws.

Hands down my favorite Remedy game to date. I played this in anticipation of Alan Wake 2 and didn't realize that I'd end up with a game that breaks into my top 5 games of all time. Watching and waiting for the sequel to Control very closely.

This was both my first Persona game and my first JRPG that I kept coming back to day after day with no breaks. Persona 4 Golden drips with style, has compelling and well written characters, and a story that will entice even people unfamiliar with the JRPG genre. Highly recommend anyone that is considering playing this to go into it completely spoiler-free if possible.

2022

Highly stylized Zelda-like with Dark Souls style mechanics. Absolutely loved every minute of it and the absolute challenge the game presents. I've described it to my friends as "the best Zelda game Nintendo didn't make".
