(completed the main four routes + their good ends for this replay, so no ren route)
still one of my favorite BL vns despite sweet pool existing and also some of the failings in it. all of the boys are great but the OFFICIAL RANKING clear = noiz > mink > koujaku (koujaku is dead last because his route is a certified sleeper snooze fest)

tnc is fundamentally, in my opinion, the weakest of the n+c games (i vastly prefer dmmd and sweet pool), but i think the games writing really and some very strong characters (motomi is great, rin is best boy + akira is a fun protagonist) makes up for a very weak story. weirdly enough, i still like it. reading the liner notes from kabura really drive home why i like it still: it's a story about passion. and that passion is felt through every once of this game, even if its story kind of sucks.
keisuke and shiki still suck tho
edit: decided to 100% it achievement-wise on a whim. thank god for the nitro skip i did not want to slog through the routes that arent rin or motomi

This review was going to be a tad longer, but I think my main problem with this game is that it's so damn conflicting.
Because there are elements I really, really like the music and Yusuke Kozaki's art is always fantastic-- and on a technical level, the upgraded combat is good. But it is just so divorced from Suda's original vision and it is just so jumbled in aesthetics and lacks any proper cohesion it's a little unbearable at points.
Shelved because I just lost the drive to finish it. I should say that No More Heroes is a great franchise, and this is far from a terrible game, but it is for sure the weakest game from Suda that I've played.
