While it’s a definite step up from the AC-RPGs of late, it’s still got that classic Ubisoft jank, a plethora of repetitive side quests, a forgettable story, and poorly implemented controls.

Still glad we’re back to the roots, though. Need more stealth games in my life.

Excellent first act, but falls apart in act 2 and 3. Kaycee’s mod more than makes up for it however.

While it’s a step up from SM1 and MM, it’s still a repetitive open world game at the end of the day. Enjoyable, easy platinum, but I didn’t feel as connected to this one as I did SM1 or MM.. not sure why. It’s still a great game, just not in my running for goty.

Truly groundbreaking. A revelation as far as the future of RPGs are concerned.

Short and sweet. Wish it was more in line with the original.

Top 3 all time. This is what gaming is all about!

Made it to about August in game. Believe I’m about 4(?) palaces in. Wanted to take a breather and try some other games. About 45 hours in.

About as meh as meh could get and still have me finish the game. The first M+R was a ton of fun back in 2017 and turned me onto a bunch of new tactical and strategy games. Unfortunately, this was also the game’s curse - making me experience other tactical and strategy games over the last 6 years, and realizing that Sparks of Hope is mediocre at best, and tedious/unfun at worst (and trust me, it gets repetitive as hell). It’s even more offensive when you find out just how easy the game is.

The voice lines, while some people may love them, grated on me HEAVILY. Especially Rabbid Peach in combat. I could’ve done without the voice acting a la 2017’s Kingdom Battle.

Not sure what exactly is going on over at Ubi, but this felt entirely uninspired. The story is incredibly weak, the gameplay loop dull, and the only saving grace (new overworld exploration system with fun puzzles) is hindered by the fact that you CANNOT JUMP. Let that sink in, you’re playing a Mario game where he can’t even jump.

Whereas I’ve played thru Kingdom Battle a few times, I think I’m one and done for this one. Just not my thing, and this is coming from someone who LOVES strategy games.

Oh yeah, and I hope you don’t mind a bunch of loading screens, because they are very often (even for just pulling up your map or character inventory) and they are LONG.

5/10 - wait for a steeper sale than $30

The character models and voice acting are very fan service-y and feel like a cliche anime group of characters, but the story is compelling (yet simplistic), and the gameplay itself is ASTOUNDING. This is my first real foray into FE and JRPGs as a whole, and I already picked up SMTV and P5R to keep it going. The gameplay and upgrade loops are incredibly satisfying, allowing you to feel your characters actually growing stronger after grinding a few paralogues.

Beat the main story in about 34 hours, but will eventually delve into the dlc.

Fun, cute, and sometimes surprisingly difficult - this was a fun departure from your typical 3D Zelda.

Magnum opus of 2D Mario as far as I’m concerned. Played on Switch SNES app.

It’s easily a 5/5 after the first 10 hours, but the gameplay loop got really stale by the end - especially while 100%ing the main game and Iki Island. If I have to do another fox den or write another haiku, I’m gonna scream.

This game actually makes you FEEL like Spider-Man.

Jokes aside, this game is great. I can’t wait to see where the 2nd one goes after this and Miles Morales!

I 100%’d both the PS4 version in 2018 and the PS5 version back in 2021. Love the time I spent with the game.

Crazy how the coop even holds up 12 years later.

Not a fan of this one. I’m a sucker for the linear Souls games.
