I haven't played many original gameboy games as they screen/lack-of-light turned me off of the system as a kid. Of the games I've played, this is likely the best. How they were able to make a compelling Metroid game with such limitations and able to produce the oppressive atmosphere that the series is known for is quite the achievement.

That being said, the game is pretty darn difficult. Getting lost in the mazes and having to farm for health / missiles if you're too far from a refill spot are a real pain, especially towards the end.

The last boss fight is absolutely brutal, too! Definitely the worst Metroid game I've played, but boy am I glad that I played it. Solid GB experience.

Incredible gaming experience. I love Metroid, but since I didn't have a Gamecube, I had never had a chance to play this game. I am actually thankful for that, as I am still able to experience things like this for the first time, in higher quality graphics, at this stage in my life. Easy 10/10!

While my opinions of this game wavered throughout my playthrough, ultimately I enjoyed this game. The core gameplay loop is very satisfying, but there are a lot of small things that frustrated me. The game introduces mechanics up until the very end, and holds your hand for each mechanic the entire way, so it never really feels like you leave the tutorial. There's so many different aspects of gameplay that some of the minigames and mechanics were probably not worth including. Rating: 4/5

Incredible game. I have only rolled credits and know there are still almost twice as many secrets than I've found. Atmosphere and joy of discovery are absolute king in this charming yet subtly terrifying game.

I started this game not quite liking it very much. It seemed cumbersome to play and the metroidvania aspects of it seemed pretty by-the-numbers. The further I got in the game, though, the more intrigued I was. This game is pretty incredible. I think the little bit of jank that it has holds it back from being a masterpiece, and I would wager if I played through again and spent some time with the cryptic stuff that hints at a deeper meaning/ending, I would probably elevate the rating. I absolutely recommend this for anyone who enjoys metroidvanias, especially if you like a bit of cryptic puzzle solving. It also has a lot of heart and touches on the ponderance of existentialism more than I every would have imagined. Also, Matt Mercer as most of the voices is the cherry on top.

Started in 2015 and played for like an hour. Decided to pick it back up this week and knocked it out in a few days. It's super janky, but it's a zelda-clone with more heart than I thought it would have. I had fun playing through the game.

A great game all around. The atmosphere is top notch, and the soundtrack is incredible. The puzzles were a bit on the easy side, but outside of the box enough to not be tedious. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this immersive game.

The definition of addiction. A gambling addiction that doesn't destroy your life (yet). Are you ever really done with Balatro? I marked the date I beat all decks, but I still need to gold stake and do the challenges. Wonderful game.

Incredible rogue-like. Class and build diversity make this endlessly fun. It's a HoF roguelike up there with Enter the Gungeon.

A worthy successor to one of the greatest games ever made. It earned GotY and other award wins, and continued the legacy of this series in the best way possible. Easy 5 stars.

Incredible open world game from the flawless From Software team.

I would play this game with my brother a ton when it came out. It is so ridiculously hard and unfair, but we found a way to make one of the characters invincible through a glitch, and that allowed us to progress to the 2nd to last stage.

The game would softlock if you performed this glitch, and we just weren't good enough to make it to the end without using it, so that's as far as we had ever seen. A terrible, yet somehow addicting game.

I may actually try to beat this game some day, if I'm really looking to punish myself!

This was my dad's favorite game to play. We would spend hours trying to finish it, and I remember getting to the last level a couple of times, but never being able to complete it. It was such a unique game with great sounds and I really enjoyed the sprite work.

It was so very, very hard. I'm unsure if I'll ever be able to play it again with Light Gun mechanics being a thing of the past, but if I get the chance, I definitely will.

My daughter and I play this every week on the Switch. Yesterday, on Father's Day 6/20/2021, was the first time she just absolutely stomped me in match play without rewinding any of her shots.

This game absolutely holds up to play even today. What was a novelty game to me as a kid is now a favorite simply due to the time I have spent with my daughter.

This game was way too hard for me to finish as a kid. I got to what I believe is the last level, but did not have the endurance to continue. I plan on finishing this game someday!
