top tier dialogue

battle system is obfuscated by poor ux design but it is interesting, just a shame it's been lost to another half-baked "roguelite". the rogue elements here are extremely fleeting; the maps could just as easily be presented as text prompts because there is nothing to explore, and the typical run differentiation rogue additions to them might be the least compelling i've seen in any one of these games to date. further, it's bogged down in endless hackneyed storytelling, the kind where the writer just doesn't have the influences and isn't well-read enough to cook up anything except a lot of mileage out of the SKIP? graphic. between involved, slow-going combat and walls (and walls!!) of character-driven text, it's almost confusing why this isn't just a traditional rpg instead of flavor of the month. of course we know it's because good rpgs are hard to make.
