Really solid adventure with a great flow and scale. Some jankiness and a shitty combat section didn't dampen my enjoyment, though the very over-explained canon ending was disappointing.

This is fun to pick up and play now and then especially on mobile, but it is quite limited gameplay wise and has way too many annoying (aka not clever) puzzles to be engaging for longer than 20 minutes at a time.

Meh. I appreciated the emotional conclusion to kiryu's story and the new characters are mostly enjoyable, but things are slower and more limited than usual for Yakuza in a series known for having glacial pacing. The new fighting system is fine when you get used to it but never feels as smooth or fluid as Y5 or 0. The hunger system sucked in kiwami 2 and it sucks in this too, just mindless grinding instead of a more robust and diverse build mechanic. Onomichi is a terribly designed city compared to Kamurocho but unfortunately most of the game takes place there. I can't say this is worse than Yakuza 3, but most of the time I was just wishing I could zoom through this to move on to like a dragon 7.
