Loved the bits added the world buidling.

hated the way the routes ended. Maybe the dlc will fix this.

despises the plot twist in azure gleam in regards to Edelgard. It didn't make sense and was needlessly cruel.

edit: we won#t get a dlc and everything sucks.

I just couldn't get into the game. :/ I never got comfortable with the game play and didn't really like the characters. It's not a bad game. It's just not MY game.

I love weird west as a genre so this was an instant buy for me. I thought it was really neat how they managed to make it western but also a bit more modern with a female head hunter for example who saves her husband(!) from a siren (a monster that is traditionally female but in this case is not). The other characters are more traditional but still fun. But she was my highlight. It felt like someone finally took advantage of the fantasy aspect that makes the Western so Weird and honestly - finally some fresh air. Very nice. Very appreciated.

I wish I was more into the game play. D: Had a hard time with it bc it was definitely not for me but that's fine, I just ran around hacking at people with a machete regardless of whom I played. Not very elegant but effective. As long as I have fun I don't care.

I also really liked the overall story because it was NOT about revenge for a change. Woho!

Seriously, the writers really gave the world more than just a passing thought and it shows!

Solid story with a solid cast and game play. I didn't guess all the plot twists so that's a plus.
But I prefer its predecessor simply bc it was on an island and I liked the main lady.

Ah yes. People with mental illnesses are evil and harm people, especially themselves.
And what did she have? Schizophrenia? DID? Both?

Fuck you, game. Also fuck you for the shock value of THAT scene which in the end was stupid anyway.

I really wanted to dig this game bc I liked Town of Light but this game just made me angry especially bc of it's ending.

I have a lot of complicated feelings abut the game's setting. I think it's really original and it's kinda neat that it's part of the story but I also think it's kind of weird (to be nice) that the main character has no thoughts whatsoever about this situation except "my bf is a partisan and died :(" like - you are the daughter of a german general.

I don't want your entire political manifesto in your room but c'mon give me something so I know what you think about this. Especially because your sister was murdered during a politically charged situation. Which is used as plot points esp. later in the game but the ideology behind it gets swept under the rug. At least this is what it felt like to me.

Maybe I give it another chance when I am not pissed that it's another "it was just in her heeeaad" plots but I doubt it.

The style is nice though.

EDIT: Oh, ALSO! This is another game where the main character is a woman who is mentally ill and has a horrible life and who meets a horrible end. This is getting weird.

I really liked the atmosphere and general style of the game. It could have fleshed it's setting out more (the world felt a bit empty bc there is not much to interact with or even find) but it was pretty solid with it's story and characters.

The gameplay is nothing to write home about but the story was engaging, I liked the characters and generally had a good time.
Maybe I will finally read those comics after all! :)

A game that has a story that is sometimes really smart and sometimes really...well, not stupid, but lackluster.

Also showed me how reading comprehension is a thing that some people apparently don't possess. Huh. Weird.

If you buy the dlc you can feed the dogs and cats so that's a plus!

I seriously enjoyed the game even though silver snow is basically verdant wind but in boring. :/

I get why people like azure moon but if you you don't really care about Dimitri you'll have a hard time with the route. I also stand with the opinion that Azure Moon leaves Dodlan in a miserable place bc you just go back to the status quo until Dimitri think people are ready for a bit more human rights. :/ Oh wow.

I also don't get how and why you try to keep a system alive that made you and your friends miserable just bc it's tradition.

The ending to Verdant Wind is also a bit weird with Claude installing the player as a pope and buggering off to Almyra to take the throne. I feel like a puppet. I like Claude but yeah - weird. But Claude is a cool character and I liked the rest of the cast well enough!

Crimson Flower is just too short and even though I GET why you don't fight TWSITD (bc the plan worked, they don't expect you to come and Hubert just deals with it in the background little by little) it was something I was looking forward too. It was my first route and I like it a lot.

Silver Snow was just bleh. I understand why Rhea did what she did but I don't have to like it and I sure as hell don't want to keep the system as it was.

This was my first FE.
I hated tea time.
Fishing felt like a waste of time.
I am afraid of those horses.

I was at least halfway through the game until I figured out which special move to use on what enemy and/or situation. A lot of the combat was really just button mashing and hoping it works. Sometimes there was so much going on on screen that I barely saw what was happening and where my character even was.

I enjoyed the story though and didn't expect to like Dana as much as I did. The Soundtrack was neat, too!

Fun game with good writing and characters that even let me do some stuff that you usually don't get to do.

Like - have sex with an eldritch abomination. I did not expect that.

This is not for people who want a "serious" game. Though the game does hit the note when you make the "right" choices, it is a humouristic approach and can't be arsed to take it's main character very seriously. I loved that. Others might not.

With its 27 ending, there is a lot of replay value. I have unlocked five endings right now and still a lot to replay and see where it might lead me.

Now, there is no mystery about IF there's a cult and WHAT they want. The game made both very clear from the beginning.

Instead, it weaves a mystery about a few key players and how they are connected to all of this. If you are fine with that you get a decent game. It's like fast food. Nice as a treat but not exactly filling. Reminded me a bit of Quantum Dream games without the QTE.

2014

I played it like mad when my father was in the hospital and later died. My memories are so tied to that game, it'S just weird.

2018

This game fixed a few issues I had with it's predecessor (Death Mark) and added some stuff that I didn't really mind.

For one, the cast got reduced but plays a bigger role ti the story. There is a connection between them, the case and the MC which makes the story come alive easily.

I am a hater of the "take care of your sibling" trope but I didn't mind it this time. The kid plays a rule but is not obnoxious because the time spend with that kid is rather limited. She is also not just thrown in the game for the cute factor but is also woven into the world and the story like any other character.

There are fewer cases than in Death Mark but that helps the game. The time spent with the tragedies surrounding the ghosts is not wasted or cut too short and because of this not really leaving an impact.

Again, we have some ecchi stuff in it that was unnecessary but that's just visual novels I guess. :/

I would actually take two stars off the game because I had to laugh pretty hard at the conclusion of the game when we finally find out what the doll's deal even is.

I don't want to spoil it, but...I mean: I get where the doll is coming from but seriously, there are easier ways to get what she wants.

>_> y'know what I mean....?

That left aside, I still liked the game. :)

BOY, did want to love this game!

But you can't love a soulless husk. The character dynamic doesn't work for me because they barely interact with each other without the MC prompting it. It's like they only hang out with each other because of me and not because they found some friends along the way straight into hell.

The dissonance between what the game tells my storywise about blondie (what's her name? already forgot) and how they presented her in the game gave me an immense whiplash. The fact the guy 'subtly' tried to make her the MC's main love interest also pissed me off. In general, are the interactions with the women in the game and the MC just a bit off for me.

The Game has style, a killer OST, neat gameplay - but the story is a weird clusterfuck that just dumps the solution to the main puzzle on me in a sequence of one and a half hours without giving me really the possibility to solve it myself. Sure, I got hints. But they were meaningless because too much vital information just wasn't given to me.

I get that they didn't want anyone to find out what was going on bc people figured out who the killer was in Persona 4 way too fast. But I think persona 5 tried to be clever way too hard.

I had fun playing it. But I won't replay it.
Too bad. It really IS the prettiest one of the persona series. :/

Okay this was something...let's go through the thing that might bother some people:

The horror of the game really comes from HOW the patients get treated and not from how mentally ill people are ~ScArY aND WEirD~.
The game punches up, not down. That's a rare one for horror games. :/ Sadly.

If you need a list of the triggers, you can find one in the my review of the 2020 edition of the game. It's marked as a spoiler review. This here is the non-spoilery one. :)

This game hits harder because it's not a fantasy horror game like Evil Within or Clock Tower or one that uses it's horror theme to talk about real-life topics (Silent Hill 2, The Cat Lady). This is the horror people have suffered through and ARE still suffering through. For me, that just hit harder.

Story is a bit confusing but I think I got it in the end. ;) Just made it engaging for me not to know for a long time what happened to whom, when, and why.
Emphasizing with the characters was easy thanks to the first-person narrator and the pieces of information that the game sprinkles around the building for the player to find. Not a lot lot of music in here but when it hits it hits hard.

It's an engaging game for a calm day when you are in a good mood for everyone who has the stomach for real-life horror.
