it's been a long time since I actually liked a game man, I thought games are boring nowadays but this... this kinda changed my mind

yea the story is a bit complicated since it requires MUCH of your time replaying it over and over and over and it's told through notes and books that are hard to find/understand or through encounters that you'll never know they existed till your third playthrough but Ion got no problem getting smart solely for the purpose of understanding this ON MY OWN -or on a 4 hour YouTube explanation video 🤔🤔🙄🤞🏻-


Anyways, to make a long story short, and I really don't say this lightly but, this game... is truly ... one of the best video games ever made.

look y'all, I really enjoyed this game but I didn't enjoy it that much to write a fully comprehensive review or smth, so I'll just list some pros and cons so that I could sleep well at night

PROS:
+ I think what I enjoyed the most in Amnesia: The Bunker is how the ammo is so.... balanced? it genuinely made the survival horror -one of, if not MY FAVORITE genre- aspect of this game SO enjoyable and made this game an experience for me and anyone who shares my love of this genre should absolutely give it a try.

the ammo in this was SO rare but SO practical and ACTUALLY useful, like for example, people keep saying that ammo in Resident Evil 2 remake is extremely rare which I somewhat agree with, but you could literally finish the game with at least 200 handgun ammo. In Amnesia you only find like 12 revolver bullets throughout the whole game but that's not my point, My point is, If I maybe wanted to kill a zombie in RE2 I'd have to shoot it IN the head for AT LEAST 7 or maybe 10 TIMES to 'balance' the ammo AND IM SORRY BUT THATS SO FUCKING BORING ITS LIKE AMMO ISN'T USEFUL IN THIS GAME, but in Amnesia IT IS ACTUALLY USEFUL AND IT SERVES MANY PURPOSES AND EVERY SINGLE BULLET COUNTS LITERALLY IM NOT EXAGERATING

+ I generally hate stalker enemies in games but the monster in Amnesia wasn't that bad honestly I'm quite shocked that I finally managed to like a stalker enemy damn
I won't say its AI was spectacular or anything but it was at least fun to confront EVEN on replays, unlike Mr. X in RE2. Once you know how Mr. X 'behaves' for lack of a better word, he won't be scary anymore he'll just become annoying, again, ESPECIALLY ON REPLAYS, I'm just glad that it's not the case here.
Also, I LOVE how THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO HIDE/FIGHT THE DAMNED MONSTER INSTEAD OF RUNNING AROUND AIMLESSLY EVERY TIME I SEE IT .LIKE. IN. RE2.
-I promise I love re2, it's literally one of my favorite games of all time but I 'kinda' hate Mr. X SO IM SORRY OKAY?-
I just... I like how you can actually fight in MULTIPLE, VARIOUS, NUMEROUS, AND COUNTLESS WAYS instead of just stopping what you're about to do ONLY to run

like, in this game, if you could spare a needed bullet you could shoot the monster and -it will actually retreat- or, you maybe could hide in a locker, under a table or a bed, throw a grenade, a gas grenade, a crafted Molotov, trick it to make it fall into a trap instead of disabling the trap with a boltcutter, and OH MY GOD THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO STOP IT I PROBABLY DIDN'T EVEN MENTION THEM ALL, HOLD UP I ACTUALLY LOVE THIS GAME

+ Continuing on this point, again, I really loved how there wasn't a singular solution to everything, like for example, you're not forced to 'shoot' the explosive barrel for it to explode... no
you could maybe spill some fuel on it and drop a flare and here you go, that's ONE way of MANY ways you could explode a barrel in this game and save an extremely needed bullet HPSPDPASDPOASD DAMN I ACTUALLY LIKE THIS GAME IMMA UP THE RATING A LITTLE CUZ IT DESERVES IT

+ I LOVE RELOADING GUNS IN THIS GAME ITS SO FUN, I love the very cool flashlight and the amount of depth it adds to the gameplay too!!!! AND NOW I WANT TO BUY AN ANNOYING MANUAL FLASHLIGHT PLEASE HELP

+ I like the idea of having to refuel the generator to get the bunker running and stopping the monster from running around freely, it ALSO adds so much depth to the survival horror aspect of this game which I seriously LOVE

+ I love how there is no HUD in this game it's so cool
If you wanted to see how many bullets you have, you have to hold reload, and open the actual chamber to know how many bullets you've missed lol, if you wanted to know if you're injured or not, just open the inventory and see the amount of blood ON your hand. I JUST LOVE HOW CLEAN THIS GAME LOOKS.

+ Side note: this is the first game that I FULLY play with a friend, it was just so fun to discuss it with him after we both finished it, or him asking me what to do if I go past him and me asking him what to do if I get lost, this game was an experience fr it's already one of my favorite games this year



NEUTRAL:
+- Why do French people in this game speak English with each other lmao? and Germans actually speak German?? It's not like I care lol but that's kinda weird

+- I would've loved more puzzles but that's ok the game is still good with or without them

+- I also would've loved it if they let me keep the map so I could just pull it out whenever I needed it instead of placing it ONLY in the save room? I just didn't see the point? but if people liked this idea then sure why not I guess

+- you can kinda cheat so easily?
this game focuses on a room called 'mission storage', this room has lockers that include really important items you need to have to go on -it's like that room in RE2 but this game MAINLY focuses on it-
anyway, the lockers need codes and you can find them by looking around for dog tags that are probably surrounded by some ANNOYING RATS THAT I HATE SO DAMN MUCH.
Looking for them and thinking of the multiple ways you could scare the rats away is so fun BUT... the problem is... you can waste all your resources and all the good ideas that make them scared off costing as less resources as possible and you could just... get the codes in a cheap way and just... go back to a later save?
Im not exactly sure know how to fix this problem and I'd be a liar if I said I didn't do it once or twice but anyway, I repeat, the game is still good even if you can literally cheat the main objective of it lol

+- The monster doesn't have a name?? I hate calling him "the monster" it's corny lol

+- the game is short, this is the only complaint I see people have which is so dumb
It's not like it's RE3 remake short, where the game is literally a lost opportunity and we will never see an actual faithful remake to the OG RE3, NO IT IS NOT LIKE THAT, but I still (kinda) see their point, I recommend getting it on a sale but nevertheless this game is solid so, just don't mind anyone who says it's not because it's short that's dumb



CONS:
- The Item Box
I FUCKING LOATHE the item box. WHY WOULD YOU MAKE ITS SPACE LIMITED??? WHO THOUGHT OF THIS??? I'M SORRY BUT THAT IS REALLY DUMB
also, you could literally drop stuff in the save room and they won't despawn so I just kept dropping stuff in there and ignored the stupid item box lol, i hope they fix this in future updates.

- The story
it's not because it's bad or anything but I literally did not care for it cuz they treated it like any survival horror game story, they delivered it through pages upon pages of notes, and they're so annoying -especially coming from a guy who his first language isn't English-
but that's ok you could, y'know... ignore them.. right? NO YOU CAN'T.
They sometimes put crucial information that you NEED to know, to know where to go next, so you can't just ignore them !!!! gosh I hated that so much but I might be overreacting here a bit lmao

- This game's engine
the engine is OLD AS SHIT HOLY SHIT. I'm not saying that the game looks bad but why in 2023 would you force me to play on locked 60 fps?? WHY? and also the game doesn't load the entire bunker in one go, so if you go to a new area the game will stop to load and it's kinda annoying and it's breaking the immaculate immersion this game has

I spent 3 days writing this and in those three days, i found out that i actually like this game so... ignore the first thing I said to start this review off lmao, I even gave it 3.5 stars initially but I changed my mind haha.
also i wrote the pros and cons randomly and in no exact order so if they sounded weird it's because of that so, sorry i guess lol


Anyways, Amnesia: The Bunker is a solid game and it's one of the best games of 2023, if you like survival horror and immersive sims I SERIOUSLY recommend it EVEN ON FULL PRICE
but if the words "survival horror, immersive sim" don't really interest you I STILL RECOMMEND IT ... but maybe on a sale lol


Oh right!! If you somehow read the whole review and you still haven't gotten around to playing this, here are some tips that might help u:

1- NOT EVERY DOOR IS LOCKED WITH A KEY THIS IS NOT A RESIDENT EVIL GAME. I wish I knew this before getting to it.
If you couldn't open a wooden door and it wasn't locked from the other side then just explode it with an explosive barrel or a grenade or break it with a brick or ANYTHING just don't expect every door to be locked with a key.
uhmm also... there might be secret paths around the doors so don't waste everything you have on a door before really making sure that there isn't any way to open it

2- if you see a strange smoke coming out from the random holes in the wall... RUN BECAUSE IT'S THE MONSTER'S BREATH AND HE'S COMING OUT OF THE HOLE. I LEARNED THIS THE HARD WAY BELIEVE ME

3- DO NOT PLAY ON HARD ON YOUR FIRST ATTEMPT, THIS GAME IS SERIOUSLY HARD, I recommend normal since playing on easy is extremely boring

4- For the first hour or 30 minutes the monster won't be around so just do what you want freely till you find the wheel... once you take it the monster will actually show up so beware

yall don't know how much I needed a game like this after playing Prey. I bought it 5 months ago and I just got around to playing it and it's INCREDIBLE.

I would've given it a 4.5 but it's really short and it's still in early access BUT either way, don't let the early access tagline stop you from playing it!! It's REALLY GOOD

I loved the RE4 inventory system so much -seriously all games should have it at this point lmao-
loved how the shadows are literally a mechanic in the game and how you can hide IN them
I LOVED the light ring and how it genuinely makes the game clean -it's HUDless which is so cool-
Loved the save system phonograph which is basically like the old typewriters in Resident Evil
I especially loved it in the first area since it wasn't linear like the other two but I'm not gonna lie... after finishing the second area I thought it was kinda annoying and didn't really serve ANY purpose but hey it's still a pretty cool idea after all


Here are some stuff/concerns that I hope will get fixed or added in later updates:
1- I thought the 'looting for money' thing was great, but why would put it IN the game if I can't do anything with it YET?? I kept all the raw gems and the brooches throughout the whole game in my ALREADY LIMITED INVENTORY and apparently, it was literally for nothing?? I'm sorry but that is so dumb

2- the A.I., the way to see my HP, and climbing are a bit clunky but it's okay they aren't THAT bad and I'm pretty sure they'll get fixed sooner or later

3- I'd love it if they'd be a little more specific when I pick up a key, yeah I know I just praised the game for how clean it looks but keys look literally the same and I don't want to stop what I'm doing to open every locked door in the area to check if I was using the right key or not.

4- I know it's kinda pointless but I'd love if they put my playthrough's stats when I finish one -like dishonored maybe-

5- WE NEED MORE NON-LINEAR LEVELS LIKE THE FIRST ONE!!!!!!!!


Anyways, Gloomwood isn't perfect YET by no means. Still, it's genuinely awesome and I seriously do NOT remember the last time I played an immersive sim without having to go through a hassle like 99% of the time lmao. I finished RE2 on standard in my first playthrough, and I sort of hated it at first but... This time, in my hardcore 2nd run I actually started to PLAY THE GAME THE WAY IT'S INTENDED TO

I started looking up/thinking of ways and strategies to FINALLY stop getting bit AUUGUGHHGH I FINALLY stopped running around the whole R.P.D. aimlessly whenever I see Mr.x because I got too scared
I even learned how to escape grabs, memorized the R.P.D with every single zombie's location to avoid them, and finally... how to actually dodge Mr.x.
I literally feel like the best RE player of all time i can't believe it


Anyways, yes. I do think that this game is good if it wasn't obvious enough, even though I still think that difficulties in this series are still a problem no one seems to care about

-seriously, I hated this for how easy it is compared to the first game, RE1 is one of my favorite games I've ever played, and the reason why isn't just because it's a great game NO, it's because... the way they handled the difficulty itself is really impressive
even if you played RE1 in the easiest difficulty, you'll still manage to learn some of the significant mechanics, unlike whatever RE2R and EVERY NEW RE GAME, THEY JUST DON'T GET IT RIGHT LIKE THE FIRST GAME MAN- but anyway i digress.

I still think that this game is really REALLY dark FOR NO REASON -nitpick i know, but i hated how they gave me hope that i'd see the rpd lit up when i first got into the save room AND LIT THE LIGHT. I THOUGHT ALL AREAS WOULD HAVE THIS WHY WAS THE LIGHT SWITCH ONLY IN THAT ONE SPECFIC ROOM??? it's not like the og was THIS dark man, and I hate how this game is TOO desaturated. ITS NOT LIKE IT BEING DARK WAS ENOUGH FOR THEM I GUESS??? why would they make it look like that man

I still think that Mr. X is annoying if you didn't learn how to deal with him, I still think that the horrible soundtrack -seriously it's atrocious- , the awful bosses, and the 1st run's ending are EXTREMELY BAD but...
if you don't have an issue with the problems I listed above I suppose you should give it a shot if you haven't already??

i know this review might seem negative but it's really not. i just have to admit it. RE2 is not only the best remake of the decade but it's THE BEST HORROR GAME TOO, and I wholeheartedly believe it should be in everyone's library

لعبتها 85 دقيقة و... ايه حلوة والكومبات وفكرته حلوين -على اني ماغير اسوي سبام بس والله يونس- لكن الكاميرا والخريطة مرة غريبين وما اعجبوني بس ما يخالف عوافي لأن القصة والاستثيتك غالبا عندهم بوتينشال يصيرون حلوين لكن اسف مو مهتم كفاية لأنها مزعجة شوي ولأن اغلب الشخصيات اللي شفتها من اول 85 دقيقة ذي يغثون وودي اصفقهم واحد واحد

ودي اعطي اللعبة فرصة بس ما اشوفها تستاهل سعرها ... غاليييييييةةةةةةةةةةةةة ورأس مالي ما يوافق هالمتطلبات للعبة مو ضامن اذا بتعجبني ولا 😫😫😫 فأعيد واكرر بسوي ريفند لأني حيوان ويمكن ارجع لها بعدين مرة اذا صارت ارخص. برب وراي 26 لعبة غيرها اكملها معسلامة
