10+ hours of headache hell and VR jank. Unbearable fucking game, only ever made it so far because of the occasional moments of pure joy that it would sparsely shit out in the midst of repetitive combat, bland puzzles, a lifeless and empty world, and the most unbearably inconsistent VR interaction. Wanna reload?Oops, you dropped your fucking mag on the floor despite putting it perfectly on your side like you always do. Wanna put your weapon on your back? Oops, you threw it on the floor. Wanna grab a barrel and use it to climb somewhere? Nah, the barrel is too heavy, matter of fact everything is too heavy, fuck you. Wanna go through another waist-high gunfight with enemies that DON'T have physical interaction with the world? You don't? Too bad, here's your 18th fucking gunfight. Wanna make a jump to grab onto a ledge? starts laughing like a psychopath you fucking idiot. you stupid fucking moron.

yes of course its a technical masterpiece in ways, yes theyve done a lot of crazy fucking with to make this game work out but its still full of shit that clearly cant be tuned well enough to work without a hitch. yes its crazy that a team of 20 people put this together but i dont give a shit about indie game feats, celeste was made by two people and it sucks dick. i only care if the game is good, and this game isnt good.

While I found Chapter 1 to be underwhelming and not really worth mention (minus a couple of key characters), Chapter 2, while not perfect, turned out to be a lot more experimental and fascinating than
I was expecting, genuinely.

Every turn of this chapter I felt like I was being assaulted or greeted with some hilarious and shocking idea, really fucking creative little spins on the normal formula made this game feel like re-experiencing the exciting joys of Undertale once again. I absolutely loved all the worldbuilding and character development too (it might not be to everyone's excitement as some cutscenes are pretty lengthy but i loved the dialogue almost more than the actual gameplay), and watching all these characters interact with each other is so much fucking fun. The combat is also just as great as it was in the first chapter, though without spoiling anything they've actually put in a lot more purpose for what everyone else asides Kris does in combat, which is a huge plus. Lots of great twists on the typical formula too.

This really is starting to feel like toby and his team working at top form, I can't count all the jokes I giggled at throughout the (rather surprising) five hours of game here. Occasionally there are some dud lines and jokes but that's to be expected for a game focused so heavily on comedy (and some people just won't get the plight of gamers wink wink), and for batting numbers this game hits it out of the park a pretty huge percentage of the time with it's quirks and jokes.

I can see why this is such an important project to toby again, this for once feels like its properly becoming something other than just "Undertale 2". I can't wait for the full game to come out in like.... 15-20 years lol

if you like fun fuck you. if you think games should be fun fuck you. if you want games to be fun fuck you. i think games should never be fun or even hint at the possibility of fun and if you think otherwise fuck you.

undercooked fucking game, great ideas buried under a lot of weak looter shooter ideas, simplified loop mechanics, and a very linear story for a game that emphasizes choice. get it for $20-30 maybe.

what an incredibly underwhelming and irritating experience. functionally awful from a gameplay standpoint, fisheye lens breaks the game once you get it outside of the objectives that require other lens, and most of those end up becoming egregious scavenger hunts with slow movement speeds and ugly environments. most of the objectives require abysmally specific placement with how you take pictures of things, while also most others are ostensibly broken and wont let you by even though you absolutely took a picture of the thing that was needed (i had to take a picture of the word "cops" and the game absolutely wouldnt let me go by unless i took a picture so fucking up close to the word that it wasnt even visible anymore).

the "story" is vague gen zed doomer stuff played out through environment only, but like others have said, there is no way to be invested in any of this because there is no emotional connection here, outside of the similarities of neoliberalism in reality. a lot of what this game tackles is surface level and doesnt actually bother getting into the roots of anything.

a bland and easily accessible platformer with an underwhelming plot. not really challenging (outside of the b-side levels).

the story on the other hand is the least touching most commodified self help dogshit. you get to deal with a character that suffers through the most general of generic mental illnesses, packaged up all nicely and likably to not be even mildly unappealing to the masses. theres nothing fucking new or interesting here that i havent seen done better elsewhere, the two halves shit is outplayed, the motivational shit is outplayed, and everyones acts like a fucking millennial. maybe the worst part about the game is that the final level is such a breeze that i felt nothing after playing it, it felt like the most colossal anti-climax to the hours the game built up that were just "wow isnt mental illness so terrible isnt mental illness baaaaaaddd omgggg u just have to get better dude u just have to climb that mountain bro!!!" like i had walked into my victory by mere accident.

its sucks meat boy better

every shitty commodified indie rage platformer wishes they were even half as good as this

the absolute distilled perfection of modern AAA first person shooters. i would dare call it the last hoorah of sci fi shooters because no game could ever fucking come close to this ever again, nothing could come close to the triple punch of the halo trilogy, and this game is a total knockout.

not a bad level here (i dont care what you think about cortana), the legendary campaign is beautifully balanced and fine-tuned to brutal perfection, the story is incredible schlock that still gets to me after all these years, and that MULTIPLAYER DUDE. GOD that multiplayer. FUCK. and four player co-op??? youve got to be fucking shitting me. nothing compares.

a funny and novel concept even though the game falls apart once you know exactly how the conversation system works, which is that grace and trip only respond based on a smattering of specific words, and once the cat is out of the bag (around 3-4 minutes into a playthrough) the game will only accept yes or no answers to questions.

despite this, and the extremely poor art quality, its still an incredibly fun concept to watch others fuck around with. i would agree so at least. theres also some additional variables that you can throw out there to freak out trip and grace before any character even has any reason to suspect that you'd know what was going on, like name-dropping maria freaks trip the fuck out. but yeah, wish these guys had gotten to make facade 2: the party.

a wonderful game if you have dedicated friends. i dont, so its actually a boring piece of fucking shit

awful boring fucking game, but at least its $1

fantastic in art style, gameplay, concept, even story too. but damn, this game is....... 6-8 hours too long. this game is WAAAY too long.

what if.... kongregate flash game..... but..... $10......

seriously though... lazy symmetrical level designs, bad ai, stiff imprecise controls, inconsistent difficulty (last level is a total headache but most of the levels beforehand are either annoyingly frustrating or stupid easy), honestly if i had anything positive to say about it, its that the soundtrack is great. stylish. pretty good. not a good game though

i love playing this game with friends and screaming and feeling nothing but agonizing pain and then getting so relentlessly toxic in all chat that i get banned. this game sucks ass but i have to give it one thing: it is a social experience. i have tarnished friendships because of this awful fucking game. it is brilliant. dont buy it or the sequel.
